By looking at the history of black folks in America, we understand this system's general attitude/stance towards blacks (especially males...see Black Holocaust Museum http://www.blackholocaustmuseum.org/ for more information). It's high time some true media coverage be given to this subject....racism today...because it DOES exist!

Apathy certainly won't get us there (dontipo) I am inclined to agree with MornRail...you go girl. I am also African American and a Woman living in THE worst place in this country for someone like me = Milwaukee, WI. BELEIVE me, this is not going to go away and as long as people are continually jailed, wronged, lynched, profiled....take your pick, I will continue to be a beacon for equality and quality in life for us ALL! Amen!

Strong personality, MornRail.
The police officials have gotten very powerful. To powerful for anyone to fight against. It's a lost cuz to fight the power because we have become nutured/spaide. "It's just that way it is, things will never be the same."But .........Using the power for an advantage is the politician way....

I think that's also the biggest question I have. What should we do? We've contacted the media, made an outcry to our congressmen and women, made our voices known while marching peacefully through the streets. But has change come from any of this? The only answer I have is to keep on pushing because maybe something won't happen today or tomorrow or even in the year but we can keep going until our needs are recognized. I am tired of the reprehensible acts towards Blacks and women (see story in link below). I'm tired of these indignation to our youths whether they're Black or skateboarders. I'm just plain tired. And I know we all are but nothing can come about if we stop now. Look how far we've come so far. I think the first step would should be taking is how to protect ourselves from the police. How can we stand up for ourselves when we are tasered left and right? How can we stand up for ourselves when it is two or three...or four against one? That's the scariest part of it all. If you protect yourself, you're a no good cop killer and that man gets a honorable funeral. When cops are "protecting" themselves, against an unarmed individual of all things, they're just doing their jobs, and individuals become just another statistic. That's currently my fight as I am not only Black, I am a woman, I skateboard through the streets of downtown with my friends occasionally, and their are power-hungry cops lurking in my city. A job that was once commendable and brave has now been tainted by racists, violent and controlling people. The law, it seems, doesn't know the law themselves. A lot must be done but I know where to start. It's up to you to simplify this holocaust and go at it at any angle possible to finally weaken this beast!

Therein lies my question to everyone who has viewed this message...what do we DO? Well I, for one, will continue to trumpet things such as this until someone listens! Thank you for your support. Please check my other posts here and at "Something You Need to Know" (topic) I am finishing up a few pods that deal with this subject and that try and foster a conversations about the ills of the US and how we can start true healing...not just slap a bandaid on the cancer anymore. Again, thanks for viewing and commenting.

no views, comments...?
It's very simple. People don't care.
It's a harsh reality, but clearly no one is that concerned, or is willing to take the time to address this issue.
The question is, do stories that deal with Black injustice get enough light in broad media outlets for us to care? How many people received the mass Jena 6 emails demainding media coverage LOOONG before the story finally hit the news? If we hadn't banned together, would CNN have even bothered covering the story?
in addition, how many missing white children, or slain white women, or white runaway brides will we sympathize with before little Keisha or Jamal gets an Amber alert or BREAKING NEWS story?? Let's face it, you just don't see it.
Now if we DID, then maybe people would be more prone to raising their voices regarding the "Black Holocaust". In the meantime in between time (@my brothers and sisters), as individuals we really should try to address these issues within our communities and spread the word to the masses.
Now this is not to alienate ANY other races; as DONTIPO says, we are all the same animal. But we first have to look at what's real.no offense to anyone in particular. i love Anderson Cooper, lol.

A lot of people are still ignorant with the concept that we are all the same animal, the human animal.
Our species varies in different religions and culture like different types of wild animals. Tigers versus elephants.
Some are predators and other herbivores.
One are big and others small.
We are all in the same boat that have both stupid and smart humans. The Race Union would be a good idea.
We are all underneath one understanding, Life.......No guns, no destruction, and war to control the population with to control. "Animal Planet"
