Hayden Hearings

CIA director Michael Hayden has closed door hearings on the interrogation tape destructions today with the Senate Panel, tomorrow with the House Committee.

I expect his case got a lot more tricky to make given an ex-CIA agent's interview with ABC saying waterboarding was "authorized from the top, and effective to boot" (not a direct quote, but that was the jist of it).

Ugh.

    • This is B.S. We, the American people, tend to observe, scrutinize, and criticize the subject of torture as cruel and inhumane. We are only splitting hairs if you're going to take this angle. Don't forget we are at war and killing the bad guy... the terrorist.
      The question is, who is qualifying the dangerous? How far do we, as believers in freedom, go to protect our rights before we trespass on privacy and humanity? Well as I see it there is a conflict between liberty and the fight for it. If we fight are we cruel? If we empathize are we weak? Right now i am not sure that we have a hold on what to do in this threatening situation.
      Here I am in my spare bedroom of my apartment wondering what path is ahead. Everyday soldiers are willing to fight and DIE for our freedom and our rights, yet our privacy is in jeaopardy because of it. What can we do? Appreciate what we have.

    • I will believe that water boarding is not torture, when the president chooses to be a volunteer to demonstrate such. Until someone of actual "authority" goes through actual water boarding and can say afterwards that it was not torture, I ain't buying it.

    • they need to water board Hayden, Cheney, Bush, and those in the Congress that were privy to the fact that we were torturing people as a matter of policy.

      This kind of treatment of others will only result in hatred for our country and our people. How can we claim to be for human rights when our country kidnaps and torture's people even to death.
