Imperial Presidency

capeflandaveral
Democracies must have freedoms in order to breathe, just as you and I need air to breathe. In the name of terrorism and security, dissent has largely been quashed. This has had the effect of both banishing protesters from the manstream media stage, as well as having induced federal employees, including the Secret Service, to engage in blatantly partisan and illegal activity.

This is very dangeruos in a democracy.

This is what happened when one journalist stepped outside a Presidential Free Speech Zone and refused to go back inside...

    • This nation was founded by men of many nations and
backgrounds. It was founded on the principle that
all men are created equal and that the rights of
every man are diminished when the rights of one man
      are threatened.
      John F. Kennedy 6-11-1963

    • while I can appreciate the time and effort you put into this piece, there is no way I could consider it a "brave" pursuit as has been mentioned on this board. Abrasive interview tactics where anyone with a camera feels the right to ask local officals about presidential issues gives citizen journalists a bad name and makes it even harder down the road for reporters to get access to events like this. Thank you for sticking up for your right to film on a public sidewalk. But beyond that, the point of your piece was lost for me... and I actually felt bad for the security guards in your piece who I believe handled you quite well considering what came out of your mouth.

    • MonSoltaire, You are doing exactly the same thing that you are accusing the maker of this pod of doing; interpreting the constitution of the United States.

Everything we believe to be real or true in our minds is an interpretation. It seems from the indignation in your post that your interpretation is that the Secret Service can do what ever it pleases with impunity in order to protect the president; that it is their jobs to adequately interpret their authority and reach. What about the issue raised in the pod about applying the interpretation equally to all people, not just to those who disagree with your interpretation.

Imperialism mean that one, and only one, interpretation of reality is correct; and that IS reality as interpreted by the Imperial Ruler. Perhaps you should do some research into what empire building is all about. The president is not any better or holier than anyone else. Yes he has a very important job to do, but this particular president's integrity in defending and upholding the constitution of the United States is in grave question.

Although your suggestion to inquire of the Secret Service the "how,, why, whem and where they have the right to establish security boundaries,," (your typos copied and pasted) sounds reasonable, it was evident in the video that the Secret Service personnel were not interested in any kind of dialog with the film maker. They are not going to share anything or explain anything to someone who is challenging their authority! Did you see the fact that anonymous automobiles and invited guests were not considered threats, only those who might want to exercise their free speech and protest the president - as if anyone wishing to do physical harm to the president would be found only among those who would dare protest his policies. If someone where going to assassinate a president they would more than likely not be among those being cordoned off; well away from view or earshot of those the president is addressing.

The truth is the president just doesn't want to stomach even seeing a protester out of the corner of his eye, he doesn't want to even here a grumble or a nay voice of anyone but those who applaud his reign.

I applaud the conviction of the pod maker to show us just how ridiculous this whole circus side show called the Bush Administration has become; with everyone on the payroll playing their parts, the Secret Service, the local Sheriffs.

I say we need to the see the end to corporate and collective powers; no more capitalist, no more socialists, no more communists, just individuals. No more gods or kings or presidents or generals, just man.

      Just man!

    • Mr. Cushing

Point of clarification:where was the free speech zone.

I have included a link to Google maps where the spot you shot this pod at. the location is in the center of the screen. The Hotel where the president was speaking is near the bottom of the golf cores. as you said its over half a mile away(0.65 Miles as the crow flies) if any one would like to look it up it's The Inverness Hotel.

    • I truly wonder what goes on in your mind, when somehow or other, you have convinced yourself Mr. Cushing, that the security of the Presidency of the U. S.. should be based on whatever your interpretation of the law may or not be.

And, if it does not meet YOUR standards, based on whatever interpretation you have made of the Constitution of the United States, you then produce a "pod" in order to prove that the protectors of the individual, who is currently the president of our country, are in affect breaking or stepping all over the Constitution.

Mr. Cushing, you could not be more wrong sir.!

If you really and truly seek the factual truth of the laws of "protection" of the president, I suggest you do some real research in the matter,

My suggestion to you would be to ask the 'Secret Service' the how,, why, whem and where they have the right to establish security boundaries,, such as this one you are so antsy about.

    • Very brave pod many Americans are noticing the changes in the very fabric of what made this country great, especially the deterioration of our civil rights, the mock democratic process and the stealing of electoral votes, and the blatant control over the free press is slowly killing our nation. If we do not have these things what do we have anymore??
