Remember when George W. talked about what a good time it was to refinance your home. Heck, he even did it. The only problem with that is, many people gave up their equity. Laws were put into place to make it harder to file for bankruptcy after leading people to borrow more. The credit card companies paid for his inaguration. Who do you think he was looking out for. As it turned out they suckered more people into buying more than what they could afford and they will get the homes back anyway. It was a win, win idea for the banking industry, or whoever was writing the paper. The American people will turn out to be the loosers from this administration. They have used bait and switch far more than people realize. It wasn't by accident either. They knew what they were doing.

You Conniepae you have a point. This could very well be more spin coming from the Administration using their old bait and switch strategy.
They probably were complacent and looked the other way so they could make the money...

.jubal, I question the spin against China right now. These issues are not new, yet they are being spun as though China is out to get us. Large corporations took their jobs to China, India, anywhere they could make a buck. They made their money with reckless abandon. They were living large at the expense of American jobs and safety. Now they want to act as victims? Like they didn't know? They are giving us a common enemy about contaminated items from China. Many recalls have happened in America, beef, vegetables, medicine, etc. China, China, China draws our eyes away from what has been recalled here. Corporate America must have made enough money from outsourcing, so now they will go for tax dollars to reinvest in America. They will probably get our tax dollars to come back here. There should have been consequences for taking our jobs to another country, so they could make more money, money, money! They have bigger house, cars, etc. Living large at the expense of average Americans. It has been win, win for big business. Companies got their employees to invest in the stock market, then scared them that if they protested jobs leaving America, they would loose their retirement (401K). Double-speak!

I totally agree with Conniepae on the issue of replacing used up things with other less used up things. That is a cool idea.
More and more now I am looking at thrift stores and estate sales, I am finding real bargains. I am also looking at labels and trying to buy as much local and American as I can. I especially avoid Chinese products wherever possible, not because I dislike the Chinese, but I am concerned about all the contamination I keep hearing about with their products they send over here to us. I am concerned about lead, and malamine, and other stuff like that.
I also try to buy local organic produce and dairy products with RBST's. The list goes on and on. I keep doing as much as I can to limit my carbon footprint on the Earth. I don't do it for any strokes, I do it because it makes me feel good to do a small part to help. I am one person, but together we are powerful. We are a force to be reckoned with.
Keep up the fight.

100monkeysyndrome, I hate the thought of getting on a list because I post, but I am an honest American who longs for a better day. I know bad things have been done throughout history. I don?t think that gives this administration a pass. I don't want to go quietly into the night, while our Constitution and the 'Rule of Law' gets destroyed. We still have the opportunity to change things. If we don't and things remain on their current path, it won't be for lack of effort on my part. I do what I can to control what I can, but it's in American's hands to actually cause change. I can only use what voice I have to bring awareness to the issues. These guys are doing things in plain sight, challenging anyone to hold them accountable. I think it?s time for accountability. Maybe if we start using our voices they will realize ?we are watching?.

I totally agree with Incredulous and jubal. I changed the way I made choices about what and where I made my purchases several years ago. I am amazed that companies on the New York Stock Exchange appear to be American investments, when in fact they are not ?America First? companies. They tend to give their business to the 'lowest' bidder. I no longer want to support them. I make my purchases at Thrift Stores, which are non-profit. My local thrift's money goes to disabled vets. So, I'm purchasing in America, supporting disabled vets. We need to stop filling our landfills with the mass consumption items and pass it along. It doesn't matter where it was made, once the global corporations have made their money, but where it goes after that is up to us. I pass along the things I replace and I replace them with things that are already here. I also love estate sales. Things don't need to be discarded, other people can purchase and cherish the items they once held dear. It's kinda 'pay it forward'. I also do not shop at grocery stores that required a card for discounts. They don?t need to track what I buy. I?m not willing to sell my privacy for want of a dollar. I value privacy and the freedom to choose my path in life. Americans need to stop being so concerned about the dollar and care more about compassion and making the world a better place to live. Oh well, that's just my opinion, 'One Lonely Voice' in Cleveland.

I totally agree with you Incredulous. I too have stopped consuming the crap they peddle everyday. I speak out against consumerism every day and point out the manipulation; especially to my nieces and nephews who are the ones most affected by the media telling them what to wear, eat, think, and do.

We have media that speaks for us, and it's getting louder everyday. It is called Current.
I agree that our country has lost it's moral compass, our leaders are not the trusted servants they once were. The integrity and honesty of political leaders is completely lost. Especially when you have philosophers like Leo Strauss who believe that "governments need myths (lies) in order for policy to move forward."

they might be looking for corporate sponsors like what they did for the tv debates which are sponsored by nationally know corporations.. so much for we the people.. until we the people are divorced from those that represent us..but i can't speak for anyone as those with the access and power and lust for power do speak for us sort of at least in their minds.
i hope i dont' get called on some focus group opinion survey now - 4 years ago

Could this be the reason that Senate are spending so many hours at the office? According to the Washington Post the Federal Elections Commission will cease to exist in 2008.
The FEC is supposed to be in charge of monitoring the election process and ensuring fairness.
