While governor of Arkansas he was opposed to gay and lesbian foster parents. He tried to make it illegal, but his policy was challenged in the Arkansas supreme court. Huckabee lost. He later pushed through legislation to make it illigal for unmarried cohabitants to act as foster parents. That law remains.
He wanted to quarantine HIV patience.
He wrote a children's book in 1998 that blamed a recent school shooting on, "abortion, environmentalism, AIDS, pornography, drug use and homosexual activism."
Huckabee believes sodomy should be illegal. (Sodomy is any sexual act that does not result in conception.)
And finally, in 1992 Huckabee said, "that homosexuality was an "aberrant, unnatural and sinful lifestyle" that posed "a dangerous public health risk."
Huckabee currently leads in Iowa Republican Polls among likely caucus participants.

Blueplanet,
I share your frustration but I would offer to say that perhaps we might set a better example for Cabindude if we didn't attack him personally.
It's not his fault he has a narrow point of view, poor guy, he probably was born into it and hasn't had the chance to really live and experience the world outside of Alabama. (not sure if he served in the miliatry but that hardly qualifies as a multicultural experience)

What is it with people thinking that taking away a person's freedom and establishing rules that are truly unfair being a way to 'save' America from the hell that it is steadily heading towards?

Man, I feel like my world is so simple. God is Love. Love is unconditional, or it's not love. Love is Life. Life is God. Life gives to all and excludes none. As does God. In my world. Ask yourself, What would LOVE do? maybe I'm too simple. But in my world, I just recited the bible. by the way, libral snobs havent learned their own lesson. pointing fingers and placing blame perpetuates hatred and helps no one. the people of this world are connected. not by love but by hate of the other perspective. when you can't turn em using their owns scripture, speak the message in a NEW way. No one is lost. LIVE (practice). LOVE (God). TEACH (learn).

Cabinetman74....YOU ARE A FUCKING IDIOT.
I loathe your fear, and feel a deep regret at the embarrassment that your "god" must have for you. Your ignorance and self-hate make me laugh. You are a pathetic excuse for a taxpaying american. I especially feel deplorable about what you will inevitably do to the bright mind of your three year old. Perhaps a nice gay foster family would save him/her from your sickening fate. Have you ever wondered why people laugh at you when they walk by?

You just keep your false hopes up that homosexuality and beastiality and EVERYONE is a good person. You just keep those thoughts...and remember them when Jesus comes and you are left behind. And you are searching for answers.
I'm not forcing my religion on ANYONE. The gay and lesbian community is FORCING us to listen to their nonsense that they are normal and it's not their fault they are the way they are. God gave us ALL free will. To do what we want. BUT with with, comes the consequences that they will have to deal with come judgement day. I will pray and hope that they will come to know Jesus and what he stood for and realize they are wrong and sinful.
You said it was normal and ok. That's YOUR opinion. You expressed it. And I expressed mine.

You said on your profile:
What I Would Change About The World:
Everybody thinkin'g that the Earth is falling apart. Of course it's falling apart....The Earth wasn't created to last forever"If you are a Christian as you have proclaimed then how do you explain Psalm 37:29 "The righteous themselves will possess the earth, And they will reside forever upon it."
Common man, aren't you up on your own beliefs or what your sacred writings tell you? You say that everybody knows that the earth aint gonna last forever, yet the Psalms tell you otherwise...hmmm

Cabin Dude:
You must be a bible literalist when you make statements like "God created Adam and Eve." Where is the scientific proof similar to the one you asked Marylinn for that demonstrates that Adam and Eve or even Jesus really existed and I will gladly produce for you study after study that suggests and confirms that homosexuality is completely natural and should be normalized and accepted by secular society.I can show you a study that demonstrates that often times children from homosexual households manifest better academic results in school with regard to grades, could it be that perhaps the homos are having the kids because they actually want them while the heteros are having them because they have to? After all you can't have an abortion right? (I can show you just in my community many parents who have no business being parents, but they get to have kids and neglect them and collect welfare because their "lifestyle" is acceptable by your standards?)
I agree with Angelique when she says that we all need to tolerate one another more. The rhetoric that blanketly states that God Hates Homos is counterproductive. It only incenses people's rage and causes arguments and in severe cases leads to LGBT community center and abortion clinic burnings and worse yet; Mathew Sheppard like savagery.
The kind of anti homosexual talk that Huckabee is putting out there only serves to hand out licenses to those looking for an excuse to hate. They hear Huckabee say its ok because God said so, and you got people thinking they are helping God by bashing gays and killing fags.
Jesus said that "My father judges no man. He has given me the authority to judge the world." If Jesus already stated that there was "not going to be any marriage in heaven" then what purpose does your marriages serve except for an economical one in the hear and now? Marriage provides an economic advantage because of the property rights associated with marriage.
All the hully balloo about marriage being sacred is a bunch of crap.
] The divorce rate in this country is higher than in any other in the world, and this country is statistically mostly Christian or holds Christian like beliefs about marriage.Jesus made such a strict standard for marriage because he wanted to discourage as many people as he could from getting married.

I would also direct you to another article....
Cabin dude: what today is considered and called homosexuality or LGBT, as a class of people, and as a sickness that is treatable is something that was made up thanks to modern medicine.
Excerpt:
"The historian John Boswell, of Yale, has noted that during the Middle Ages "same-sex sex" was regarded as a sin, but those who committed that sin were not defined as constituting a type of people different from others. Between the sixteenth and the eighteenth century same-sex sex became a crime as well as a sin, but again, those who committed such crimes were not categorized as a class of human being. This changed in the nineteenth century, when modern medicine and particularly the science of psychiatry came to view homosexuality as a form of mental illness. By the 1940s homosexuality was discussed as an aspect of psychopathic, paranoid, and schizoid personality disorders.Having defined homosexuality as a pathology, psychiatrists and other doctors made bold to "treat" it. James Harrison, a psychologist who produced the 1992 documentary film Changing Our Minds, notes that the medical profession viewed homosexuality with such abhorrence that virtually any proposed treatment seemed defensible. Lesbians were forced to submit to hysterectomies and estrogen injections, although it became clear that neither of these had any effect on their sexual orientation. Gay men were subjected to similar abuses. Changing Our Minds incorporates a film clip from the late 1940s, now slightly muddy, of a young gay man undergoing a transorbital lobotomy. We see a small device like an ice pick inserted through the eye socket, above the eyeball and into the brain. The pick is moved back and forth, reducing the prefrontal lobe to a hemorrhaging pulp. Harrison's documentary also includes a grainy black-and-white clip from a 1950s educational film produced by the U.S. Navy. A gay man lies in a hospital bed. Doctors strap him down and attach electrodes to his head. "We're going to help you get better," says a male voice in the background. When the power is turned on, the body of the gay man jerks violently, and he begins to scream. Doctors also tried castration and various kinds of aversion therapy. None of these could be shown to change the sexual orientation of the people involved."

Hey Cabin dude: a recent paper by a Norwegian theologian, Raghnild Schanke, asserts that Jesus was indeed referring to several categories of people including asexual persons and those who would fit the modern concept of homosexuality. She notes that many eunuchs in antiquity were capable of sexual relations but did not seem to have natural desire for women. She amasses an impressive array of ancient references to some eunuchs being disinterested in the opposite sex even though physically capable.
To address these questions, I turned to one of the top Biblical scholars in the world regarding sexuality, Dr. Robert Gagnon of the Pittsburgh Theological Seminary. Author of the encyclopedic The Bible and Homosexual Practice, Dr. Gagnon commented, ?I think that the phrase ?eunuchs who were born thus from their mother?s womb? [Matthew 19:12] is probably an inclusive group consisting of any man who lacks sexual interest in women. This group would include both men who have genital abnormalities that result in impotence and men whose genitals are still capable of begetting children. It would also include both asexual persons and persons who, in time, develop exclusive same-sex attractions.?
Regarding Jesus? phrase ?eunuchs who were born thus? Dr. Gagnon said, ?The saying does suggest a recognition on the part of Jesus and early Christianity that some men are born in such a way that they do not develop, as adolescents and adults, other-sex attractions, for whatever reason.? Such men are not born gay, but rather without responsiveness to the opposite sex. Attractions to the same sex may or may not develop during the formative years via a combination of temperamental and environmental factors.
This is an excerpt from the article form "Concerned Women for America" under culture and family values.

Check it out Cabinetman... The bottom line is simple; you are free to follow your god. Isn't that freedom GREAT!?!? I, on the other hand, am free to follow MY god. Now, I won't push my religion on you, and you don't push yours onto me. See how that works? It's a pretty cool system that guarantees you your FREEDOM OF and FREEDOM FROM Religion. Is this making sense yet? It's not about whether gay sex is right or wrong, because that's subjective; it's relative, based on an INDIVIDUAL's beliefs. In America, every single individual is entitled to his or her beliefs...no one wants to strip you of yours, and we ask only that you don't try to strip us of ours. Are you getting this? You'll understand this point the day that the government steps into YOUR home. The day the government crosses the line over YOUR beliefs, and tries to "guide" you into a life that fits A god's standards. When that day comes, you will be up in arms, angry and defiant. It will be different then, because it will be your freedoms on the line. It will be your liberty at risk. Can't you see that you are imposing your beliefs onto others? Can't you see that you are sacrificing something even bigger? You are sacrificing the principles that this nation is founded on. Ever heard the phrase, "Give them an inch and they'll take a foot."? You're willing to give them someone else's inch, but it'll be your foot. Get me? Watch what you love, protect your freedoms, and protect the freedoms of others. Just because you believe in the liberty and freedom that this nation has promised, doesn't mean that you support non-traditional lifestyles; it only means that you are a patriot, and you believe in the principles that this nation is founded on. In my opinion, it would also make you a better christian. I'm not gay. But I will not cast a stone. I will protect my fellow man with the ferocity with which I would protect my own child. I will protect the principles that this nation was founded on, in the hopes that my children, and your children, will be free to choose their own religion, whatever that may be. You claim to know the bible, but there's more to knowing it than reading it. And it's easy to see only what you WANT to see. Remember who Jesus was... Remember the lessons he taught, and ask yourself, what would be more important to Jesus, persecuting those who sin? Or showing love, compassion, and forgiveness to all, even those who commit mortal sins? If you are a christian, you know the answer, and there can be no other. There is no middle ground when it comes to the teachings of Christ, especially on this topic. Forgiveness is the basis of the belief system; not persecution. As I have mentioned to others who spew forth the same words that you have here...YOU ARE BEING USED. You and your religion are being exploited. These powerful, rich, corrupt men and women are connecting themselves to your religion, when they are really the anti-thesis of Christianity. Think about it. Pray on it. Most importantly, ask yourself, WWJD?

Can a man be decent and honest without harboring a fear of a vengeful god? I think so. and in doing so his eyes are open to different forms of thought. That voice in your head is your conscience, not god. Unless your choosing to identify it as the "god" in yourself. Check it out Cabinetman, why give the power of making a decision in your life to anyone but yourself. Because you are the God of your life, as I am with mine. In other words, God is in each of us, and we are all a part of God. We are all One. just a thought. There is more than one way of explaining life, just as there is more than one way to skin a cat. We all need to take a good look at em.

Did I say I "hate" homosexuals? I don't HATE anyone. I disapprove of the homosexual lifestyle and agree with Mike Huckabee that marriage should be defined in the Constitution as a covenant between 1 man and 1 woman simply because GOD created it to be that way.

The world is melting...that is funny. And just how many years do you think it will take for the WORLD to melt?

This issue is a MUCH more important and immediate issue than the "World melting".

HATE?? I don't remember him EVER saying he HATED anyone.
As a U.S. Senate candidate in 1992, Huckabee wrote in an Associated Press questionnaire that homosexuality was an "aberrant, unnatural and sinful lifestyle" that posed "a dangerous public health risk."
"I would tend to leave (the question of civil unions) to the state, as long as they wanted to not call it a marriage," Huckabee said in 2006. "Now if they'd call it a marriage, then I'd have a problem with it."
These things ARE a sin, and not only the U.S., but the WORLD, needs someone in power who will stand up and say ENOUGH.
People are spending SOOO much time concerned about saving the planet, and SOOO little time concerned about protecting our children from the filth that invades our TV's, internet and daily lives.
