Good to see a follow up to the media that surrounded the Orange Revolution but never went below the surface to contextualize the situation for viewers outside Eastern Europe. It'll be interesting to see how things evolve. In an emerging democracy there are many challenges, one of the most crucial is helping citizens in these countries to understand those challenges so they can stay motivated to continue to work for change! More is needed. Keep up the good work.

I viewed the original full-length film by Damian Kolody, "Orange Chronicles" and this update is definitely a suitable post-script. Mr. Kolody should be commended for his passionate interest in the evolving history of contemporary political and social life in Ukraine. His work with limited resources is quite a feat. Well-done!

Well done! Personal observations like these are always interesting and provide a useful insight into a sampling of opinion, however small. As with similar mass-movements, some individuals joined for reasons that were not very deep or complex - just a bit flip. And now some of these people are disillusioned for equally flip reasons. Undeniably Ukrainians achieved a compelling non-violent change in their society. And while opportunities have been painfully squandered, real progress has been made nonetheless. May Ukrainians continue to come closer to bring real power to the people.

If you'd like to see more, I have the raw, unedited interviews posted in the video section of my website www.OrangeChronicles.com
And yes the hyperfocus on the Middle East I have found has resulted in a reluctance for festival and television programmers to show the film, unfortunately. But from the history of screenings that we have had, all types of audiences have been affected in significant ways by viewing the film. Many of the themes are so universally applicable! - 4 years ago

This whets the appetite for additional features on the political evolution of the post-Soviet space. We've become so obsessed with the Middle East that most of the media seems to have lost interest on the dramatic developments in eastern Europe. We need to hear more about why Ukraine has gone in one direction, Georgia in another, and Russia has regressed.

Only a few rebels like you left on the road less traveled. From another on the road...wonderful work and courageous efforts.

So is this the disheartening sequel to the Orange Chronicles?
I suppose it shouldn't be surprising how much the apathy and disappointment of the people you spoke to reflects our own here in the U.S., except for the fact that Americans have had a few centuries to watch our democracy become corrupted by money and power. In Ukraine, it seems have taken less than a few decades for voters' resignation to kick in, even after the cathartic upheaval of the Orange Revolution, just a few years ago.
One thing I'm curious about, though, is that you seems to mostly have canvassed a younger segment of people. Since the OR involved significant numbers from older generations, as well as the young and feisty, I'd be interested to hear if/how their views of Ukrainian politics have changed in these last few years.
Great piece, though! Please continue keeping us abreast of these issues in Ukraine, as they could probably teach us more about our own political problems here than we realize.

Thanks! In the final version I'm planning to have subtitles rather than my on-the-fly voiceover translation.
