Brighton bars and clubs may loose their licenses if they play music by homophobic reggae performers and rappers. Jamaican gays are regularly attacked, even murdered. Some believe homophobic reggae encourages the violence. Similar attacks occur in the UK. The Brighton City council, who voted for the ban, learned later that their library had a sizable collection of the so called "Murder Music".

    • Homophobic reggae? So if I am understanding this correctly...

There are people who listen to music that, under certain stereotypes, is often listened to while stoned on weed. Weed, like alcohol can make people a little easier to influence. To top it off the music that these people listen to while likely stoned, according to the stereotype of reggae being stoner music, is preaching homophobia and potential violence towards people of a homosexual persuasion.
