it should be noted that many people think that kennedy stole the election in 60, and there is curious evidence lying about to support that he did. not to take away from the override point you're making, which i agree with.

It's too late for John Edwards. Kennedy managed to win because back then the election process still worked. Today the same force that brought down JFK--the military industrial complex--is too entrenched and powerful to be taken down by a national election. All the money and press coverage will go to the candidates who they know will keep the machine of war and oppression running, and if that's not enough they've got the Diebold corporation to ensure that the results of the election are results that are acceptable to them.
We can't just VOTE democracy back. We have to TAKE it back, and it starts with demanding serious changes in the way we hold elections, from campaign finance reform to the out-lawing of any voting machine that is so easily tampered with and leaves no paper trail.
