HERO OR ZERO: THE LEGACY OF JOHN CONYERS?

Marilynn_Murray, I couldn't agree more. I sit here typing, but I could do more. I could be attending a town hall meeting in Cleveland. Complete with speakers who are speaking up for Americans, not Democrats, or Republicans, but Americans. I would like to see Americans from all walks of life to join in the conversation. There are people capable of organizing such an event. Al Gore did it last year, but one year is not enough. We need to come together to decide and discuss the direction of the country.

People with voices don’t have to be politicians to voice their opinions. People would listen. They could generate record crowds. Wouldn’t it be great to have conversations across America, all at the same time? It could be called ‘Live America ‘08’. Simulcast live throughout America. A conversation talking about where we are and where we can go. We can be environmental friendly. We can have transparent government. Everything should not be ‘classified’! That needs to change! We need to be led by voices who care about ‘We the People’ first.

We need a movement! We need leadership! I have tried to call out individuals with voices, such as Al Gore, Chuck Hagel, Chris Dodd, John Edwards, John Conyers, writers, directors, actors, musicians and ordinary Americans, to join in countering spin with facts. Far too many people, sit by silent while spin is being openly spun, as equal to facts. That's an 'Assault on Reason'. Why?

Who are we to lay blame on anyone? Have we flooded, I mean FLOODED the Senate and House with demands for impeachment? Have we had any big demonstrations demanding impeachment? No, we haven't. What better time than an election tear when they feel and are vulnerable? So it's back in our court. What are we going to do? What about our legacy?

The reference about the basement was in reference to the hearings about the Downing Street Minutes meeting which had to be held in the basement, because the Republicans were in the majority.

As far as the auto industry and his wife, I'm not knowledgable enough about the subject to even participate in the discussion. shadyjay, Iook forward to more information about his ties to the auto industry.

I do not have blind faith in Democrats or Republicans! I personally don't trust either party to look out for my best interests. But, I know the Republicans do not work for ordinary Americans. They don't even try to fake it.

What's this about a basement and the light of day? I'm confused.

Conyers doesn't run the committee by himself, anything that large would have to come down from Pelosi and top democrats. They want to keep the majority and worry about fixing what's already been screwed up. If the impeach it just looks like revenge for Clinton, although obviously there is a real case there and I personally believe Bush, Cheney and others should be in jail for sure.

Difference is, in Watergate republicans were against Nixon. I don't think the same would happen again. There was also no Fox News then, either. How do you frame articles of impeachment into soundbytes?

Conyers, like Dingell, are whores for the auto industry when it's all said and then. They and our democratic senators consistently vote not to increase fuel mileage. Detroit isn't exactly swimming in money, so we have no public transportation thanks to decades of auto industry pressure AND poorer people drive older cars with even worse gas mileage. Meanwhile their jobs are in Mexico while Japanese companies build plants in the US.

If you're going to bitch about Conyers, I think that's much better.

Or you can wonder why he's married to his wife Monica..who's always in Detroit since she's on the city council. She's a rubber stamp for Detroit's scarface-wannabe mayor Kwame Kilpatrick. She has the maturity of an annoying 8th grade girl when working in and within the council. If he runs a committee like he chooses his wife, we're worse off than we thought.

ZERO.

Well It's been 5 days and everything I see, he's pointing to ZERO. SAD! HOW CAN WE BELIEVE THEM IN THE FUTURE, THEY HAVE LIED IN THE PAST! ONCE A LIAR, ALWAYS A LIAR?

One can only hope so.
