Ok the first five minutes, and I'm laughing. Just wanted to reply that "Zietgeist" was brilliant. Not too sure of the evidence about the origins of christianity. But you can definitely understand the correlations between ancient and modern religions. Not religious anyway, so not too bothered. (selective ey?)
The other parts of Zietgeist were an eye opener. Now if only you can get that running on TV alongside
http://storyofstuff.com/ (very easy to comprehend in depth look at why we can buy "things" for dirt cheap. Also a slight critique of macho capitalism)
I recommend checking it out. The woman stops sounding patronizing shortly after the start =)

Social_Fuzz,
Hi. I think we're mostly in agreement. I interpret the film as an attempt to divert attention from where it belongs. It's use of history is highly selective and only serves to correctly point out the total amorality of the extremely wealthy. But from there the message gets twisted to scapegoat Socialism.
Socialism is not the problem. It is the remedy of redistribution. It embodies what Thom Hartmann calls the "commons", those things that belong to all of us. And, yes, the media is hopelessly corrupted in the US. I'm old enough to remember when that wasn't necessarily the case.
I don't consider you an idiot and I'm certainly not shouting at you. The film is old (like me) obviously transposed from film to video. I recommend you watch it, but with a critical mind (which you clearly possess), if only to gain perspective on just how long right wing schlock has been around.
I do think, however, that a more thorough and accurate treatment of some of the events portrayed in 'Conspiracy Theory', especially the origins of the Federal Reserve, can be found in the "Zietgeist" movie. Do check it out.
Thanks for your comment.

Can't watch it on this computer. But sounds like a bunch of bullshit.
dogmatic capitalist zealots just fear socialism because it takes away private ownership, and the ability of a few elite to indoctrinate and accumulate from the masses.
Capitalism has lead to the atrociously poor distribution of wealth, the non-existent health system, the "have money or die" attitude, individualism to the point of ignorance, the exploitation of non western nations, war for profit. Im not saying socialism would heal those ills. But it is stupid to believe that socialism is the CAUSE.
And americans, do not confuse socialism and communism. I know not much disgression is used in your "shout at me like im an idiot" Propoganda media corporations.
Ill watch it when i get home, see if i just bitched for no reason. But aspects of socialism is a true democracy. The upper class capitalist zealots reaping the rewards of greed and exploitation, promoting their values through upper class airwaves can go fuck themselves with a rusty iron pole.

'Conspiracy Theory' is a thinly veiled right wing attempt to portray socialism as THE worldwide conspiracy. It begins by quasi-correctly observing aspects of international money accumulations and then attempts to shift responsibility for the resultant inequalities on collective social action, away from where it belongs, on the banking/corporatocracy itself. It's essentially a form of political obfuscation. Dr. John
