Gore Endorsement Rumor Kicking Around Clinton Campaign

A well-placed spouse of a Clinton campaign insider just told me that a rumor is spreading like wild fire that Al Gore is going to endorse Barack Obama.

My source emphasizes that this is rumor and may just be paranoia and hyperventilation of the campaign, but it's important to know that this rumor is out there. Another source of mine inside Obamaland has told me that they have been working very hard to secure Gore's public support and trying numerous avenues to "encourage" him.

    • I would have to agree with you on that Varex. I was also disappointed when Al Gore was attacked with the "invention of the internet" spin, etc. and didn't fight back. They all need to immediately fight back with the truth and make it clear to the public, and do it loudly. Otherwise, it looks to those too lazy to research anything, that the spin and lies were true.

    • I think the problem wasn't so much that the spin machine discredited a war hero, the problem was that Kerry was trying to have a feel good campaign that was more "positively" focused. The problem was that he didn't take the gloves off until it was too late when things like those swiftboat vets against Kerry started attacking his history.

      Now I'm not saying the spin machine was not at fault, but Kerry did not really fight against it like he could and/or should have in my opinion.

    • I agree we have to do the best we can with what we've got. My fear is the spin machine. If they could discredit a war hero, they will go all out to discredit either of the current candidates.

    • I had hoped he wouldn't endorse anyone. I had hoped he would hold out and see what in going to come to the Democratic candidate from the Republicans. We can't end up with a Republican! I still think Al Gore is the best choice for President!
