The aim of Westwood's Manifesto is to encourage all intellectuals in the fight against propaganda. The following is an extract from the manifesto: 'The most important thing about this manifesto is that it is a practice. If you follow it your life will change. In the pursuit of culture you will start to think. If you change your life, you change the world'.

    • Of all the people to listen to? Why can't people listen to George Monbiot? Or Noam Chomsky? We don't need the Westwood to tell us what to do when there are world beating intellectuals on our side...

    • '"Every time I read a book instead of looking at a magazine, go to the art gallery instead of watching TV, go to the theatre instead of the cinema, I fight for Active Resistance to Propaganda". Vivienne Westwood's life-changing cultural movement is not without its contradictions - was she not on Jonathan Ross the other day on said vile telly box? - but it's wonderful to have a bit of free-thinking in our consumerism-obsessed age. Here, converts to the cause can download her 22-page manifesto, recite Aldous Huxley's three evils of the modern world, apply for an AR badge and moan about X-Factor and Turkey Twizzlers pacifying the masses into submission' - the Guide.
