Figuring out Florida and Michigan

Controversy, debate, and conversation continue to swirl around what to do about Florida and Michigan who forfeited their delegates in the Democratic nomination process by pushing their voting dates earlier than the rules allowed, but who now want their votes to count. They probably should have thought about that before breaking the rules, huh? Remember kids, patience is a virtue.

With a total of 366 delegates between the two states, and given the currently neck and neck delegate counts, the decision could make or break either campaign.

    • Honesty, and fair play is the name of the game. I will finish going insane if they give Hillary those delegates. We need a popular vote election. I hate all this conniving crap.

    • Bill/Hillary weren't planning on being behind Obama when they agreed to the concept of leaving out the Fla and Mich delegates. To be fair, Dems should follow through just like they agreed to. It would come out the same way the voters voted.

Only problem is, we are dealing with people who are doing things the OLD way. We are getting ready to see the Dems shot themselves in the foot again.

That's how we got the Reagans and the Bushes in the first place. The masses, or the peasants, started fighting amongst themselves and the feudal lords just walk right into power.

They HAVE to get us fighting ourselves to beat us. The last Dems that got elected had to split the vote with George Wallace to get into office. Then, they reformed welfare and balanced to budget. The only thing we hear about from the MSM is, that the Repubs are conservatives and the Dems are liberals. What the hell do we need a conservative Republican for if we can reform welfare, balance the budget and put all the peasants back to work.

This is what Obama is saying. We need to do it in a different way.

If we do it the same way, we can't win. Cause we just shoot ourselves in the foot! And the bad guys just walk right in and take over.

The last Dems we put in office, stole the Repubs thunder by creating financial success for the masses. The only way the bad guys got back in control is to threaten impeachment for failure to answer a question that nobody had any right to ask! They asked a question about a consensual relationship. They claimed it was impeachable to lie about a question no body had the right to ask.

Now, the bad guys can go to another country and kill a million people and spend 9 trillion dollars and they're patriot's and a hero's! But we had to give up our pay-as-you-go system that was working and creating financial success. Don't get me started!!

    • It would be a huge mistake to include these delegates. The party agreed on the rules. Obama's name wasn't even on the ballot in Michigan. I'm not sure if his name was on in Florida. Anyone know?

I wouldn't have imagined the democratic party being in two pickles at once. They will divide the party if they, a)overturn the will of the people by having superdelegates decide, and b)choose to include two states delegates which previously were decided wouldn't count. Hope they make the right decisions. : )

    • I agree with Marilyn. The DNC shouldn't change the rules in the middle of the game. That would not be fair to Obama, who followed the rules and did not campaign in those states, versus Hillary who broke the rules and did campaign. I will remind the DNC that integrity is important. It's what separates us from the Republicans. (And this is coming from a Hillary supporter!)

    • This is a huge mess. DNC better play this one right, because McCain could attract moderate Dems who feel they had their candidate pulled out from under them.

Of course not if he keeps caving to the radical right fringe of his party like he did with the torture bill.

Straight talk express is getting a little more crooked everyday.

    • The only fair way to include them is a caucus. I doubt there is time to print up ballots now. They sure as hell shouldn't use the results they already have that would be totally unfair to Obama. They all signed on to not being on the ballots in those two states. Hillary didn't follow the rules, she should not be rewarded for it.
