15' tall Obama mural in Houston, Texas (documented by PR!MO)

Some local street artists painted a 15' Obama mural designed by Shepard Fairey (ObeyGiant) in Houston Texas. I documented the painting from beginning to end... using 1 camera for time-lapse and another one for the interview during the process. I also photographed the process as-well.

Painted by: GONZO247, Christian Azul, Mr. Bristle & Reginald Adams.
Artwork by: Shepard Fairey
Documented by: PR!MO/LecheQuemada
Location: Alabama @ Travis, Houston Texas

    • JanforGore,
You're obviously not Latina/o. There is a cultural precedent for such murals. It has nothing to do with idolizing a tyrant. It has to do with showing respect for a beloved leader. (By your reasoning, our candidates should not make speeches, since Hitler made speeches).

This mural is an image, just like images you see of all the candidates in the media. It happens to be more beautiful than those other images. I do not see beauty as being subversive or threatening. For those who believe in Obama, this is an inspiring work of art. Respectfully, Ms.Henriquez

    • This is super! I love the way it had that OBEY look. I think you guys did a great job. It provokes thought and brings plenty attention. Good way to get to the art community as well. Keep up the great work!

    • Isn't that what Saddam Hussein did in Iraq? Had his picture painted up on walls as propaganda? Hey, if you want to paint a mural about hope, fine. But putting his face on it gives it a whole new connotation that frankly I'm not comfortable with. If Bush was doing this it would be called Fascist. Obama is not the definition of hope. We are.

    • Right on man,

      Hope indeed....
Them being invited by the Obama camp, tells me that these people know what's going on in the world today.

      Word.

      -D.
