“It’s kind of humorous that Mr. Zucker makes an announcement that pretty much describes our strategy and approach over the last few years,” Fox programming and scheduling chief Preston Beckman said, referring to NBC Universal chief executive Jeff Zucker. “It is total smoke and mirrors. If anyone should be getting credit, it is us. He is basically saying, 'We are going to imitate the No. 1 network.'”

    • I for one am pissed at both of these networks.

First of all let me say that as far as Fox is concerned; I love several of their entertainment programs that I have found to be innovative and "ground breaking" but they also have several really obnoxious "reality" programs that I find completely devoid of anything of value.

As for their news division, they are the quintessential myth makers of the day. And that is both a complement and a derision.

As for NBC, for me my experience has been the opposite. I have really loved their News Division for what I perceived to be integrity in journalism, however since the Bush Administration took office, NBC News has been on a downward spiral. I love the Dateline Investigates series but I can't stand the Catch a Predator Dateline spinoff.

As for their entertainment programming I have been enamored with several of their shows but I have been upset about what they did with them. For example, they got me all hot and bothered for the show Surface, but they canceled it after the first season, because of ratings (which is a nightmare labyrinth in itself). Even though it was a critical hit and a cult favorite. They ignored the letter campaign to "bring back the show". I started to be really disappointed in NBC for that tactic, which they have done to several other good shows since then. Now we have Heroes which I find I am enamored with as well and I am dreading continuing my love affair with the show because of the haphazard scheduling. I know the writers strike affected all the networks, but this show is such a bona fide hit with the young people I know, that they are practically religious about it.

So what I wasn't clear about from reading the article is what exactly is NBC supposedly going to be copying from Fox? I certainly hope it's not their News Division. It was bad enough when they lost katie Couric to CBS Evening News, the Today show has never been the same to me, I have lost interest in that show altogether now.

I am rambling about television oh gee. Well that is all I want to say. thanks
