Despite many Tibet supporters requests to the contrary, the Dalai Lama says he always supported China's right to host the Olympics. He said a boycott would be too drastic, but said supporters "could remind the international community, including the Chinese people, about the repression and urgency of the situation in Tibet".

The Chinese invaded Tibet in 1951 and have ruled it ever since. The Dalai Lama fled to India in 1959 to avoid execution. China has shown nothing but brutality and "demographic aggression" towards Tibetans, leaving them the minority in their own country.

The Dalai Lama has given up his dream for complete autonomous rule, but is asking the Chinese for spiritual and cultural autonomy. The Chinese continue to refuse his request and have done everything possible to destroy the Tibetan culture.

    • this is so akin to the attitude of the Dalai Lama. in the face of abuse, suffering, injustice and terror, he still shines a smiling face at China and shows support for their right to do something.
