Is an attack on Iran imminent?

George W. Bush is poised to order a massive aerial bombardment — possibly including tactical nuclear weapons - of up to 10,000 targets in Iran. The attack would be justified on grounds that Iran is interfering with U.S. efforts in Iraq and that Iran is developing a nuclear weapon, a charge that was debunked last fall in the National Intelligence Estimate (NIE).
According to international experts, the U.S. declared economic war against Iran on March 20. On that day, the U.S. Treasury’s Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) called on the world’s financial institutions to stop doing business with Iran, making it much more difficult for Iran to engage in global commerce.
Now the Bush administration is preparing to drop the other shoe. Below are some of the indications that a U.S. military attack on Iran is imminent:
The March 11 resignation of CENTCOM Commander Admiral William Fallon who, according to a well-publicized Esquire magazine article, “openly opposed Bush’s Iran policy and was a lone voice against taking military action to stop the Iranian nuclear program.”
The recent removal of Vice Admiral John Stufflebeem, Commander of the 6th Fleet (Mediterranean Sea), also known to be a critic of the administration’s war plans.
Two U.S. warships took up positions off Lebanon last month. According to US News & World Report, “The United States would want its warships in the eastern Mediterranean in the event of a military action against Iran.”
The Israeli air strike against Syria last September was advertised as an attack on a nuclear facility. Current speculation is that the real purpose of the raid was to “force Syria to switch on the targeting electronics for newly received Russian anti-aircraft defenses.” Knowing the electronic signatures of these systems would reduce the risks for U.S. and Israeli warplanes heading to Iranian targets.
Israel conducted its largest military exercises ever beginning the week of April 6. This exercise simulated missile strikes from Iran, Lebanon, and Syria. (Note: Both 9/11 and the London subway bombing of 7/7/07 occurred simultaneous by with military and/or civil defense exercises.)
One day after a March visit from Vice President Cheney, the Saudi government announced “national plans to deal with any sudden nuclear and radioactive hazards that may affect the kingdom.” This announcement came following warnings of possible attacks on Iran’s nearby Bushehr nuclear reactors.
According to former U.N. chief weapons inspector Scott Ritter, the Pentagon has contracted for additional bunker-buster bombs and planes that carry them. Delivery is due this month.

Yes, we get to watch because there aren't enough people willing to speak up and do something about it. Current has given us an excellent platform to speak freely, now we need the platform(s) to put our words into action and to get more people involved.
If you put all the laws that were broken by this administration together in one ball, you would have a preponderance of evidence to indict any of the Joe Blow's, take him/her off the street and hold them without bail and try them in a court of law in front of their peers. Unfortunately, there are American laws protecting these mad men from any of this. Maybe after their terms are over some charges can be presented, but you can rest assured the mad men will be pardoned before any charges get to first base.

....and noone does nothing about it.
The president does what he wants, and the people that allowed him to be there just get to watch.

. We have technology in our grasps, yet there is so much being done right now, it makes it hard to focus. They promoted the preemptive war with Iraq in plain sight. People spoke out, but were ignored by MSM. Many times MSM would put on their own 'talking head' who would spin (distort the facts) with no follow up. Leading viewers to believe facts could go either way. It's an 'Assault on Reason'!
My dream would be for all patriotic Americans with voices to stop the spinners from spinning. State the facts and explain how they have spun (distorted facts) trying to mislead the American people. People with voices could expose their spin with facts.
We can change things if we focus, inform and support others who are trying to make a difference. When you hear spin, post it and counter the spin with facts. Expose the spinners and pass it along. If you hear facts that others should hear, post it on current.

JanforGore:
I don't believe these stories do more harm than good, even if they are conjecture. With all the obvious signs of conflict coming with Iraq, the antiwar movement didn't have the time or analysis to mobilize the American public to stand up for their belief that inspections needed more time. It was not Bush's war, it was all of ours, in our name or not.
We need to exploit every opportunity to inform, warn, and resist, because once combat is initiated, even if only from the air, it will last decades and you can kiss cheap oil (yeah, $4 is damn cheap compared to other importing countries) goodbye.
I watched a snail crawl along the edge of a straight razor . . . That's my dream. That's my nightmare.

America has had some brave individuals who have spoken out about possible lead up to war with Iran. A brave person exposed the nuclear bombs being transported live across the country. Had that person not exposed the 'accident?' who knows what would have happened. Every thing that has been exposed, was classified as an 'accident?', or classified.
This story was reported today in my local paper. Americans need to support the ones who have the courage to expose wrongdoing. MSM gives them 'nothing to see here, move along' coverage. We need to not move along. We need to take the time to think of what could have happened if they had not spoken up.

I hope they don't have our aircraft carriers in position, just to bring up oil and gas prices. JanforGore, people stating that Iran is going to be attacked for the last five years is no accident. They have been rattling the sabers for the past five years. I'm afraid they are waiting for the right moment.
I'm afraid the concrete proof will come in the form of a mushroom cloud used by us. Tactical nukes are just that, a WMD authorized for use by this administration. 'Nothing is off the table' scares the shit out of me. I would like to see a full plate of diplomacy, not half baked threats.
After George W. and the neocons lied to us to attack Iraq, how can they be trusted? The Democrats did not expose the lies before we preemptively attacked Iraq, how can they be trusted? Trust may be a thing of the past.

And how do we know this isn't being put out here just to bring up oil and gas prices? People have been stating that Iran is going to be attacked for the last five years. While I do believe Bush and Cheney are entirely insane enough to do it, where is the concrete proof? Is it then right to keep pushing this out without some other back up while consumers continue to suffer at the pump for it? Yesterday's reported incident with a cargo ship firing on a boat in the Persian Gulf will probably cause gas in my neighborhood to rise another few cents today as it did by ten cents in just three days. So are these stories actually doing more harm than good?

As Einstien said, "I know not what WW3 will be fought with, but WW4 will be fought with sticks and stones". I think that this may just be the case if a match is thrown on the Middle Eastern tinderbox.
