    • "So we must offer up Israel to nuclear annihilation? Are you INSANE? The United States and Israel have every right to defend themselves."

And apparently Iran does not. Is that the point you're trying to make?

    • the popular sentiment of the American populace holds a Iran as a fermented pastel of the 1979 Hostage crisis. Blatantly, the austere richness of its history as an empire, architectural plethora, and as a natural wonder should be instated into common knowledge. As many people on this forum have reiterated we are one race, the human race and to witlessly decimate people of our own entity is preposterous.

    • I watched a special on Iran and the people...they're just like us! They watch all kinds of sports, ride bikes, have ice cream parlours. They love the American people as we should love them. They don't agree with their government....and we agree with ours? HELLO! If we bomb them, we might as well bomb ourselves. I think the Iranian people don;t want to live in the middle ages again with dirt and more dirt. Let them be...the people there will figure it out. Let's just mind our own business and protect OUR country.

    • That they've never fought a war in expansion in more than two thousand years might be a reason to not bomb them.

Oh, and they are innocent human beings but I forgot their leader said something nutty once, to hell with them.

Thank God George W. Bush never says anything stupid or non-representative of the American people. God, if we were a poor country without nukes, we'd have been bombed by every country with a goddamn air force by now.

Anyone advocating war with Iran is

      A) A lunatic
      B) Work for or are completely invested in the military industrial complex
      C) willfully brainwashed (i.e. Faux News viewers)

    • Iran has done nothing wrong? Their overt mission has been to "wipe Israel off the face of the Earth". Sounds hostile.

An out of context mistranslation of Ahmadinejad misquoting an historical text. He was not stating an intention to destroy Israel, he was misstating, from memory, a comment by a Cleric as to why Iran cannot recognize Israel in its current form. it was not, in fact, a declaration of war or intention to war. Those are declared very clearly, and not by the President.

I did read a good translation of the speech recently, if I can find it I'll post a link.

If anyone out there *does* have the necessary skills to chime in, please do so.

Aside from that, it is worthy of note that Iran has not attacked Israel either. The fact some people believe they 'might' is far from justification for bombing.

ps. America now has only one candidate for Presidency who does NOT advocate a unilateral assault on Iran without provocation. I find this disconcerting.

    • Hey! All you guys who think that Iran is not a threat, you're wrong. They support the insurgency in Iraq and have the centrifuge technology to enrich nuclear materials powerful enough to be used for weapons.

"Oh yes.. all evidence from weapons inspectors declares that Iran physically cannot develop nuclear weapons. They have exactly the wrong materials to do so. They would blow up their own labs during the enrichment process, which kinda gets in the way of bombing other nations." -undeadbydawn

I will be working hard to make sure McCain does not become president of my country.

His singing "Bomb Iran" was a huge insult to all that is good in humanity.

    • TO ME THIS IS ALL A MODERN DAY CRUSADE. IT IS NOT ABOUT HELPING THE ARABS OR ANYTHING OF THAT NATURE THIS IS ALL ABOUT POWER CONTROL AND M IND MANIPULATION. WAR IS NOT THE ANSWER TO THIS CONFLICT. LOVE AND UNDERSTANDING IS!!!!
AND I AGREE WE SHOULD NOT BOMB ANYBODY UNLESS IT IS ABSOLUTE LAST RESORT. DEFENDING A NATION IS ONE THING MEDIA ENHANCED MIND CONTROL IS ANOTHER...

And I get to tired of the argument that Israel stole the land from Palestine. In case you missed the flash-based story from a few weeks ago, the entire region has changed has so many times, I'll bet Native Americans can lay as much claim.

    • Put simply, 'we' should not bomb Iran because Iran has done absolutely nothing to merit bombing. Or invasion. Or even general vilification.

The current... less than ideal political situation in Iran is a direct result of US/UK interference decades ago. Given the extent to which we fucked them over it is somewhat surprising that Iran does *not* hold its accusers accountable.

Oh yes.. all evidence from weapons inspectors declares that Iran physically cannot develop nuclear weapons. They have exactly the wrong materials to do so. They would blow up their own labs during the enrichment process, which kinda gets in the way of bombing other nations.

Iran has also never invaded any other nation. Hands up if your Govt./army has?

      thought so.

    • A great history. Cyrus the Great is credited with the first state edict on human rights. He freed the Jews and let us return to Israel. That was 1500 years ago!

Unfortunatley, Iran has now been led into the dark ages by fundamentalists. USA is at risk for going into a fundamentalist dark ages of our own; Rev Hegge, Pat Robinson etc.

    • "offer up isreal to nuclear annihilation?"..

      the boogieman looms large indeed..

if you want INSANE, then take a country inhabited for centuries by people (palestine).. transplant thousands of immigrants and refugees of a different ethnicity from all over the world (jewish people) into that country practically overnight (right after world war 2).. in the wake of a recent tragedy (holocaust), ride a wave of sympathy and guilt to pass international legislation to recognize and label it a country within a country (UN establishing israel in 1948).. displace the previous locals and create a new wave of refugees (palestinians).. in the process, provide it with financial and military superiority (USA) to allow it to break down and intimidate those original citizens (again, palestinians) who attempt to fight for their homeland (palestine), all the while ignoring resolutions from the very same international body which gave it legal recognition to begin with (again, the UN).. and do so based on the racist ideology that there are those who are chosen and then there is everyone else (zionism)..

and now you want to bomb another land of people because they recognize this injustice and choose to speak against it?

      now THAT is "INSANE"..

maybe you should take up your own offer and buy yourself a ticket to go see how life passes in a place that you are so eager to "annihilate"..

    • So we must offer up Israel to nuclear annihilation? Are you INSANE? The United States and Israel have every right to defend themselves. If you don't understand the clear threat that is posed by an Iran with nuclear weapons, then you don't deserve to be protected. Why don't you move over there an offer yourselves up as human shields? I'll give you the money for the ticket.

    • These people who use fear and violence are like children building sandcastle on the beach during low tide.

I must say, I am very disappointed in Nancy Pelosi for her position that she only has a difference of opinion with Bush.

Israel IS it's own worst enemy - they have seen the enemy but mistake the mirror for a window.

Same is true with Busheney and gang - they are too stupid to know they are playing a destructive game to know it - when it isn't even necessary.

    • arguably , Putin "backing" Iran works in the US's interests , as it might prevent the US from jumping into another war which would sink it even further into debt - if having a NWO which involves US presidents having to check their ambitions or else risk suicide , i'm all for it - there has to be a balance of power eventually - the only other option is "Gotterdammerung " - at some point it has to dawn on all the "major players" in this world that "war" is MAD. playing by the same old rules of localized conflicts hasn't benefited anyone - and it isn't going to work in the future - this is a new era - "grand alliances" are being formed , and those countries which choose to be islands unto themselves will be at a very costly disadvantage . adapt or die - that simple .

    • Damn straight malathion.
There are a great many people who need to stop automatically embracing the simple/ flawed thought process that equates a nation's current leader with the nation's entire civilian population.
It just makes things worse, and widens the rifts between people.
      Seems like common sense.

    • A. can't do a thing without approval - A. is not a dictator ( that is , having unlimited power ) , and despite whatever he espews , he is no more a representative of the opinions of Iranian society than Bush is for the US . in short , he is over-rated by paranoid americans , and the US gov't wants this to be the case - do not be fooled .

    • These pictures are absolutely amazing! I never knew how beautiful Iran geology really is. No wonder Iranians are proud people. They're more mature and have deeper roots in history than the people who threaten them for sure.

Let's focus on how we can better understand them and ignore "spit" comments intended to derail this thread into another trivial political garbage (like the one above kingston).

the historical treasures there are all of our history
this land is the cradle of civilization.... and the baghdad museum looting was a carefully crafted effort. By the elite to separate us from the ancient knowledge...
destroying the past....... to build a nwo

    • the destruction and looting of the natural history museum in Baghdad was a real tragedy. We had soldiers guarding the oil facilities while letting the historical legacies of the beginnings of our civlization go to ruins. shows you where the American government's values are.

    • Well...we made sure the ancient artifacts in Iraq were pludered or destroyed. Why not move to Iran? Then the US can march right through what's left of eastern Europe, then the Iberian penisula and moving finally to Washington D.C. Or maybe we should start by cleaning up Washington before they destroy what's left of an unbelievably rich culture.

When I think of the historical treasure and architecture that was destroyed during the US invasion of Baghdad, it makes me quite angry. I hope that never happens in Iran.
