What TV can do to help us reach the greatest number of people?

That is a great idea Stephen! It would be interesting to test this on practical TV programing. I was thinking to having a panel with classification to air educative human health environmental issues. We would attempt to create news to fit into this classification. This panel would give suggestions to the news creator of how he or she could do to reach the accepted classification to air it on TV NEWS NETWORK. We could follow this classification:
1. It has to be health for human life [x]
2. It has to be safe [x]
3. It must be clean [x]
4. It can present different forms of entertainment [x]
5. It must educate people motivating them to act to save our population and our environment [x]
6. It must present some character towards innovation [x]
7. It must present a character of respect for Life [x]

That would be a good start!
Mr. Gore movie does qualifies to reach these marks right now. It does question people about corruption and about doing things right, it raises people awareness about our Planet and how to cure this environmental cancer. We just have to spread the News and reach the most people out there! If we all act together towards a goal we will get it! There is power in numbers!

I think it would be nice to have TV petitions. The same way people send SMS (text) on their cell phones to vote for American Idols, a 30 second commercial could sell a concept or political issue and if you're so inclinded, you can vote on it, without getting up from your seat. Maybe we could even vote on the programming itself.

one thing is for sure, TV is not as currently as interactive as it could be.

I agree with you cibalin! TV Networks still have lots of red tape and dimensional barriers to brake on their own. Like I said before, I just hope we can shift TV to be more entertaining and at the same token educative to the public at large. I can talk about editorial content and market demographics as long as it takes so it would help TV News to wake up and refine its way of airing environmental issues. Actually what we need is a department of priorities identification or a department of priorities. You know, that fun thing to tell directors and producers to do this first than that after. Do not waist your time to much with things that are part of the problem, work and help to air those that are part of the solution first!

I advocate current.com whenever I can. It has helped me to understand more about this world we all live in. TV was so lacking and hasn't helped much in that endeavor.

Absolutely. Not just a news station, but an information station that actually combines information with activism.

Great thoughts Stopnoise. CurrentTV is a place that can make this change. It would be great to hear from a more wide scope of its contributors on these topics. The same small handful are posting most of the environmental material but I can imagine it is difficult for many to get their heads around such an abstract concept. It is hard to believe the Earth is exhausted by our mistakes. I imagine when people feel empowered again they will make real change. This could be a place where that can happen. we will see.
