Wedge issues designed to preoccupy the masses, or how great works of art are redefined by Indiana
Indiana has passed new legislation declaring art work portraying the human body unsuitable for humans. Great artist once considered by the vast majority of humanity throughout the ages to posses a "divine gift" such as Michelangelo are now determined to be "PORNOGRAPHERS" in the eyes of the enlightened Indiana legislature. Never mind the work of the "Divine himself".
Next up on the "enlightened'" Indiana State legislature's agenda; a bill to ban all mirrors and "reflective surfaces" for fear "horny" sexual deviates might view themselves; become uncontrollably aroused; and violate themselves - oh, and children of course.
"Even seemingly innocent reflective surfaces can be turned into "PORNOGRAPHIC" paraphernalia such as car side and rear view mirrors, shiny cook wear, CD jewel cases and even patent leather shoes" excitedly exclaimed one erect 'member' of the Indianan legislature.

Missouri is passing a law to require proof of citizenship too. Just another way to suppress the vote. Too bad we are allowing those clowns to remain on the SCOTUS. We better start a drive to help people reregister to vote, and check the rolls to make sure we and they are still on them.

What is this world coming to...Is Salem in Indiana..?Just the idea of such a censorship is disgustingly obsessively obscene...who will protect the children from the Angelico whackos now..?
Puddles are reflective too...so I guess they will no longer pray for rain...
At least they won't have to worry about over population... there won't be any sex allowed either...that would be entirely too offensive and indecent...what a bunch of jackasses...clear the whole damn state and just plant trees...they're harmless...
The art piece shown above is quite good though...
Thanks Voyager...

Hey Indiana is also passing a law that you have to be an American Citizen to vote and you have to show proof that you are a citizen in order to register to vote.
This will only hurt non Republican voting people, because many of them don't even have passports or documents that prove they are citizens while the Reps get an official citizen card from the GOP hah hah just kidding...
But seriously folks, this kind of laws will only hurt voters. The idea that an illegal immigrant would risk being arrested and deported to engage in voter fraud is utter nonsense. The whole problem is a made up problem.

I would like to send a message to the citizens of Indiana via the wonder of democratic media that is Current: Do everything you can to fight this. Wheatpaste large posters of great works of art that are now deemed "pornography" by the ignorant legislators, start some street protests, hand out subversive flyers, anything!
And why didn't the people have any say in this? Why are these things voted on by the politicians and not the people? - 5 years ago

This is unbelievably rediculous! I think the Indiana legislators need to be schooled on the difference between Art and Pornography. There is absolutley nothing pornographic about this beautiful photograph. This is really nice Art work and should not be censored at all. And placing a ban on mirrors and reflective surfaces; perhaps the legislators should look in the mirror and realize the human body isn't pornographic, but beautiful instead!

It could hardly be argued that ABC would get a fine for showing the "nipples" or other aspects of human anatomy of works of the "masters". Especially, since these works of art have been photographed, filmed, published and broadcast for decades if not hundreds of years.
Seriously, it was bizarre.

Appreciation for the beautiful human form does not denigrate it nor reduce our respect for others.
You (no one in particular) learns how and what consideration to give others, physically, emotionally and psychologically AT HOME from birth - maybe before.
A person raised with healthy respect, learns to respect others and is not "altered" by viewing the human body in "God's" dress (wearing only skin, naked, nude, butt naked, birthday suit, stripped, exposed, bare), pornography or anything else.
So, you say what about those who weren't raised to respect others? I say; remember the nasty elementary school teacher who would punish everyone because of something one person did? Why reduce the healthy interaction of society to the "conditioned" state of a small percentage of dysfunctionals? And how does suppressing the expression of healthy individuals help those who are dysfunctional suffering from arrested development??
I'll tell you why! It draws into question the mental health of all those elected officials and public servants who use power, position and a super ego of some kind as a bandage for real self-esteem derived from a healthy psychology / developed personality who ignorantly exploit these kinds of issues.
You can tell those who are merely compensating for (little man / woman's complex) because they are the first to judge and condemn, they have the least compassion for the suffering of their fellow humans.
Those attempting to compensate for their own developmental issues ALWAYS seek to inflict punishment, harm and suffering on others "they" deem unfit - and never and are not capable of helping them. As a result, their misguided approach is an attempt to expunge their internal demons, but externally. They are the enemy, and the enemy is often us. This is not the way!
In this society, it is nearly impossible to develop ones personality / psychology unaffected.
This brings me to the Republican mentality; those who are seriously in denial derive a sense of empowerment and exhilaration from destructive acts, from disobedience, from killing, from violating others, from wanton and willful disregard for others. Who falls into this category: Bush; Cheney; Rove; Rumsfeld; the Israeli government; and all who sign on in blind allegiance who ignore the lies, deception and corruption. People who feel the profundity of the Constitution is obsolete - and no longer applicable in our time - or is it their interpretation that is lacking?
Why do they do this? It is the feeling of righteousness it gives them - still a compensation for undeveloped personalities / psychology resulting from neglect and abuse of varying degrees. It is their dysfunctional view validated. The feeling is a drug that is hard to get off of. I am not speaking from personal experience.

Maybe they have a real point, the cheapening of the brand through over exposure to images of it's naked flesh has left us in a situation where people think it's ok to hurt and kill each other.
Perhaps this is how they plan to help ragain respect for the individual human being.
Maybe if it doesn't work there will be a sickly sweat drink we can all drink at once,,,,,,,

I don't think my politics have changed at all since 1984, when I was considered a conservative Democrat instead of a rabid progressive. Every once in a while, since I live in a college town, I still have the luxury of thinking "I'm not so far to the left, after all."
