What we should remember on this Memorial Day

How unfortunate that we have a need for such a day, especially since “War is a racket. It always has been. It is possibly the oldest, easily the most profitable, surely the most vicious. It is the only one international in scope. It is the only one in which the profits are reckoned in dollars and the losses in lives.” So stated Major General Smedley D. Butler, USMC, the most decorated Marine in US history.

We should remember that war is neither about honor, duty, justice or peace. War is about money, greed, power, and death and destruction. It is about sacrificing our children to propagate fear.

    • tigpoppa, not all of us voted for Bush....not even once. There are many in the U.S.A. who did not partake in the whole BS spewed my media, but didn't see a way to make a major difference. I hope that you see the "Sleeping Giant" waking up with Obama. 85,000 people came out in Oregon to hear the voice of hope. If you want to help, keep your eyes fixed on the hope of America.

    • HaHa well I would say the money machine is more an American phenomenon.

Their country on the whole is so uneducated their too stupid to know whats going on.

When I was in America I watched the news on TV and they it seemed like they tell people what to think. Its understandable since for internationally they test miserably on an academic level against even third world countries.

    • I have four children, and I have taught children. The first primary lesson is always to teach respect. Learn to use words, learn to listen, learn not strike out but to work toward a peaceful solution. How hypocritical it is to tell children to behave in a way that most adults don't utilize in their own dealings, especially our so called leaders!
