"Police state II coming to a neighborhood near you."

"Remember how we've always been told that free markets and free people go hand in hand? That was a lie. It turns out that the most efficient delivery system for capitalism is actually a communist-style police state, fortressed with American "homeland security" technologies, pumped up with "war on terror" rhetoric. And the global corporations currently earning superprofits from this social experiment are unlikely to be content if the lucrative new market remains confined to cities such as Shenzhen. Like everything else assembled in China with American parts, Police State 2.0 is ready for export to a neighborhood near you."

rsmithers with the dumbest post of the day!
america is a socialist democracy by definition. socialism doesnt entail a police state, capitalism does as capitalism is the unjust system where a few get rich off the backs of many poor.
new york city is a police state. the name of the mayor: bloomberg. whats your point?

MRsmithers, You can use a name for how a Police state exists, but we have a work in progress, he is no socialist and he's not a dictator, he's a 'decider'. Dictator/decider they are both wrong for America.
The 'decider' is setting up the police state!

Habeas corpus
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
For other uses, see Habeas corpus (disambiguation).
Habeas corpus (IPA: /ˈheɪbiəs ˈkɔɹpəs/) (Latin: [We command] that you have the body)[1] is the name of a legal action, or writ, through which a person can seek relief from unlawful detention of themselves or another person. The writ of habeas corpus has historically been an important instrument for the safeguarding of individual freedom against arbitrary state action. Also known as "The Great Writ," a writ of habeas corpus ad subjiciendum is a summons with the force of a court order addressed to the custodian (such as a prison official) demanding that a prisoner be brought before the court, together with proof of authority, allowing the court to determine whether that custodian has lawful authority to hold that person, or, if not, the person should be released from custody. The prisoner, or another person on his behalf (for example, where the prisoner is being held incommunicado), may petition the court or an individual judge for a writ of habeas corpus.

Posse Comitatus Act
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopediaThe Posse Comitatus Act is a United States federal law (18 U.S.C. § 1385) passed on June 16, 1878 after the end of Reconstruction. The Act prohibits most members of the federal uniformed services (the Army, Air Force, and State National Guard forces when such are called into federal service) from exercising nominally state law enforcement police or peace officer powers that maintain "law and order" on non-federal property (states, their counties and municipal divisions) in the former Confederate states.
The statute generally prohibits federal military personnel and units of the United States National Guard under federal authority from acting in a law enforcement capacity within the United States, except where expressly authorized by the Constitution or Congress. The Coast Guard is exempt from the Posse Comitatus Act.
The Posse Comitatus Act and the Insurrection Act substantially limit the powers of the federal government to use the military for law enforcement.

It might have been more helpful to post JFK's speech on it's own. That video seemed to cram every single conspiracy theory into one giant mash of unverified paranoia.
Secrecy is a danger, and democracy and transparency are our weapons against it.

It's not about fear, it's about rights and corporate control. Do you want a private corporation telling you how you can or can't live your life (i.e. blackwater etc) ?

Neo Is a metaphor for the collective efforts of the people combined..... We have to go out infiltrate, fight, sabotage ,protest, show up in congress, call our senators, hold all of our leaders accountable, waive our rights, if we have any.... and stand up to those who claim to be our ''leaders''.....
The word Government is actually two words Govern-Ment-Govern in Latin means to Steer or to guide- Ment in Latin is actually Mente- which means Mind put 2 n' 2 together and you have TO Steer The Mind......Hmmm

Just know this, if you are posting on this site they already have your name and number. They know everything there is to know about you. So you might as well go ahead and fight the good fight to try and change things before it's too late.

They've had police camera's in Chicago for at least the past 6 years. Monitoring the "bad black and brown folk".
I've had alot of friends come to Chicago and ask me "what the hell are those". My usual response is..."have you ever read 1984?".

If you think this article is terrifying enough on its own, please take the time to watch this radio interview with Naomi Wolf in which she discusses her new book "The End of America. I recently attended a filming of her giving an "Inconvenient Truth" type presentation tomorrow night, only icebergs sliding into the ocean, it's about how democracies slide into tyranny.
Here are the three of the ten steps I remember off the top of my head. Watch the video for historical and current examples of each:
1. Create a gulag (guantanamo, abu gharib) and the ability to arrest people without giving them the right to know why (PATRIOT Act).
2. Torture (Military Commissions Act).
3. Create lists of 'suspicious persons' (TAA's No Fly Lists).

Why would the government need to know what he listened to? To learn what's popular for more effective propaganda?

Hey don't hate :) rolling stone occasionally does cover some great issues (their article on Marijuana use and reasons for and the implications of legalization was quite good).
but anyway i read this as soon as it came in the mail and it is quite appalling, everyone in America who values their rights should read this.

Welcome to the Matrix.
Who will be Neo enough to free the people? Complacent and apathetic people.
I think that the people in power have perfect opportunity to get away with so much. They distract everyone with this long political process (that should have been over) and the stars. People pay attention to this political blunder while the government swiftly puts into motion many things that will start to affect all of us and when they do it'll be far too late for any of us to do anything.
