This is puzzling to me as well, but it has the appearance of the US somehow making this move for political reasons, since in their puzzling statement they mentioned Iran negatively and Israel in a defensive way. How many other countries are there in this wide world now, folks? I think it rather telling that they would only mention these two countries and Zimbabwe. The timing could also have to do with recent calls for Congressional investigations regarding the US treatment of prisoners, etc.
