on impeachment.
dear senator Feinstein,
i also appreciate your time in corresponding with me. but there are a few points i would respectively like to make.
1.the united state constitution article 1 section 3 provides among other things an outline for the steps our nation takes in impeachment proceedings.notice this is at the beginning of this document? i feel that is indicative of it's importance in government. if the people feel that they cannot trust their leaders integrity and honor, they should have recourse in a representative democracy. to me this seems self evident. the fact that you feel this would further divide the country shows me the exact wrong attitude. if on one hand you can admit to the current administrations wrong doings but on the other hand say, " At this time, however, I believe that impeachment proceedings against President Bush will only divide the country even further, frustrating our hopes for a meaningful change in direction, while having little chance of success." shows me a conflict of interests. sometime as a parent i am put into situations where it would be easier to ignore my child's action for the sake of not rocking the boat and dealing with the strife correction would entail. but as a parent it is my responsibility. you swore to uphold the constitution just as mr.bush did. he has done alot of damage to this document that protects my children's future. you are their defender just as i am. shame on you for choosing the easy path. you and most of our representatives are trying to be reasonable in some very scary, trying times. and i understand (as much as an average American dad can) in many ways it is very scary to even admit to oneself the extent of mr.bush's crimes. but being reasonable about violating human rights and dealing dishonestly (blatantly at that) with the American people is unforgivable. don't fool yourself, legal precedence is being set to suspend constitutional rights at a whim, start wars for private profit at the expense of national security and honor, and to re-write the rules at will. i shouldn't have to tell you how bad it is, i mean how many of your constitutionally appointed duties and rights as a senator have been unscrupulously abridged by mr.bush's heavy handed politics?
2. us constitution article 2 section 1 states;
before he enters on the execution of his office, he shall take the following oath or affirmation:- "i do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States." do you honestly feel that our leader has lived up to this mandatory oath?
3. us constitution article 2 section 4 states ;
the president,vice president,and all civil officers of the united states,shall be removed from office on impeachment for, and conviction of, treason,bribery,or other high crimes and misdemeanors. history will show just as the present times have, that mr. bush has committed more than enough crimes to qualify for impeachment thrice over. treason? how about an illegal war. that we, the American people where tricked into supporting, with lies that came out of his mouth directly? bribery well i don't know if appointments or lack thereof could be construed as bribery but..i feel they should be. notice that this says "shall be removed from office"? in their minds (our founding fathers) there should be no question. if the president is guilty of breaking trust with the people he should face impeachment hearings.
4.us constitution article 6 says that you shall be bound by oath to protect my children's rights. i trust that you take this responsibility seriously.

you know she is the only one that took the time to respond. and she wrote back a letter that said she appreciated my thoughts and would try and keep them in mind etc. almost seemed like a real response that time too. do our representatives not understand that they undermine our country by kowtowing to the bloated executive branch?

Thank you for taking the time to write the letter. It is a very good, thoughtful letter. I believe everyone should write them to all our legislators, all of them. Calls every day won't hurt anything either. They need reminded they are supposed to represent us in this election year, especially if it is their election year. If they don't pay attention they should be replaced. If you had a gardener and your yard was a mess, that he refused to clean up you would replace him. Our national yard is a total mess.

(continued in comments due to character limits)
our senate found it important to try mr.Clinton for sexual escapades while in office. NO American youth died for this indiscretion. no children were left legless or orphaned. to say that mr.bush's crimes are in some way less, and believe me by your inaction that is what you tell the average citizen, demeans human life and our countries values. i know it may seem divisive to take action at this time but honestly from the heart i feel that holding mr bush, mr cheney and mrs rice, accountable is not a decision but a responsibility. and to treat it as anything else performs a dis-service to our nation,constitution,and brave soldiers fighting for betrayed trust. to let them walk away after committing all these blatant crimes would undermine our democracy and help to further destabilize our unity as a nation. i joined the national guard for desert shield. my father served 3 tours in nam. my grandfather saw many wars. my family serves. we pay our dues for democracy. willingly.lovingly. please do not betray our trust. and please understand if my tone is emotional or offensive it is not intended to be. but it is intended to wake you up.my children's rights are being eroded, our youth are dying and being maimed to maintain a corporate war, our representative to the world and ourselves, commits crimes of a nature with adolf hitlers.(if not the magnitude), and we sit paralyzed as a nation debating national morales that should be common sense. i.e we should NOT violate the Geneva convention. be forsworn and then try and defend that impossible position. when we adopt the methods of our enemy do we not become our enemy?
it is a time for heroes in the senate not yes men. standing up and facing the might of administration and media is what you swore to do. i ask that you seriously think on my points and reflect on our nations great commitment to itself and the world.
we have alot to live up to.
we have alot to atone for.
beginning impeachment proceedings would show the world and our own citizenry our commitment to our morales is not lip service but real honest fact.it would go a long way towards restoring faith with the international community and ourselves. strengthening our bonds and uniting us. sometimes doing the right thing is not the best course for politicians i guess. i dont know. all i know is we swore oaths you and i to defend America. i see this issue as falling under that heading. and i see writing you as me living up to that commitment. so please if i have been offensive in any way understand it is only because i am an American citizen motivated by patriotism and honor. as you are. i don't normally write to senators or hold a sign in protest. but i have a civic duty. i swore an oath. i enjoy many freedoms and privileges as an American citizen. i appreciate these. i owe for these. i take this responsibility very seriously.
again thank you for your time.respectfully,
