Why is it "interesting" to see our President and other Representatives of us, We the People, GUT our Constitution and Bill of Rights??? How is it they are ALLOWED to do this??? They all SWEAR to UPHOLD these Documents and yet act AGAINST them every day! These traitors should be thrown out on their ears...and I mean IMMEDIATELY upon their unlawful acts. With all of the unrest on our Southern Border now, (3/09), we don't need our Representatives to DISARM us nor do we need them to say once again, that THEY CAN'T TRUST the Law-Abiding Citizens whom they REPRESENT!!! We have elected a new Administration (including the House and Senate) that is more ANTI-AMERICAN than any in the past. How are we EVER going to SURVIVE as the Free and Prosperous Nation that we once were? The task is MASSIVE, and it begins with understanding what we were and why we cannot survive as what we are becoming! WAKE UP, Americans...we are nearing the point of NO-Return!

to go off of what a lot of people have been saying i don't think it's because Obama hates the second amendment, it's because he wants more regulation on who can buy them and keeping them out of the hands of people who would use them in the wrong way. there are a lot of people who use guns responsibly and there are a lot who don't. the second amendment was created to give the people the ability to defend themselves and to revolt against the government if need be. i don't know how affective some of the guns we have now would be against out military but i don't think it should be taken out of the constitution just have stricter laws regarding ownership, safety courses etc.

if you give the government an inch they will take a mile!!!! To allow them to place restrictions and limitations on our rights will only lead to our rights being completely destroyed. The patriot act for example completely reduces our fourth and sixth amendment rights to nothing!!!!!! Why hasn't Obama adressed that problem!!!!!!

Midnight_DevilX, I agree with you. I feel that you should not call people sheep. The people who disagree with you are, most likely, for better or worse, our American brothers and sisters. When someone calls someone else names or insults them, I think less of the person who is throwing out the insult. I sincerely appreciate this post you made. I just got off of the phone with a friend and we discussed this post and he now will never even consider voting for Senator Obama. Virginia is supposed to be an "up for grabs" State in November. I am 100% positive Obama will not win here in Virginia because of his unenlightened view of the Second Amendment.

When posting something like this I think its important to cite your shit.
Most of these measures seem aimed at curbing frivolous gun use rather than 'hating' the 2nd ammendment.

I don't want a gun. I don't want the nut down the street to have a gun either. Hunters need rifles, I can see that guy coming, it's the hand gun I can't see until it's pointed at me. I trust the SCOTUS will come up with something sane.

I would challenge every person here to look for themselves at the effect gun laws have on society. You will find that cities that have prohibit legal gun ownership have high rates of gun violence. Restrictive gun laws, like the ones Obama is in favor of, will only give lead to more gun violence. Look how laws banning marijuana only help criminals make profit and harm only otherwise law abiding citizens. If marijuana was made legal, the control would be in the hands of law abiding citizens and government regulation. Same with guns. Keep guns legal and they will be in the hands of law abiding citizens and the criminals who use guns to commit crimes will not have an advantage over "John Q. Public".

Midnight_DevilX,
Thank you for this post. In Virginia, where the 2cnd Amendment is protected, gun violence is very low. In Washington D.C. and Maryland, where there are strict gun laws, gun violence is very high. The right to protect yourself is not a government given right it is a God given right. I will always reserve the right to to do whatever it takes to protect my family. The government can no better do a job protecting myself than I can. Relying on the government for protection is as feeble as relying on the government to provide my family health care. People can do for themselves better than the government can do for them. "Ask not what your country can do for you..." - 4 years ago

lmao, you sheep crack me up.
I guess using quotations is a necessity in this realm. I did not write this, it was posted on a site, I read through it. I liked it, so I posted it, the title and text is all from another person. I will, however, not be voting for Barack. And, I do agree with most of you, this does show more of a reason to push your vote through, likewise I love the 2nd Amendment, and will be purchasing a gun in the near future. And it will remain at home except for the days I go to the shooting range, I'm not going to push for carrying rights, because I'm a black belt in Krav Maga and can pretty much defend myself with my bear hands.
Any who, I knew the slander and trash talking was coming, so much for an open minded society :)
Just had to clear that up.

It doesn't need to be updated.
I like how people will use the "Separation of Church and state" as a pure gold statement and yet state others need to be updated.
Why not doesn't that one need to be updated? Oooh because it follows your agenda.

read his book; he states that he has no problem with gun ownership in rural America, but strongly opposed gun ownership in urban areas. I'm writing this message from Lima, Peru, a city sometimes known for street robberies, however, due to gov't regualtions restricting gun ownership, most of this crime is non violent, knives for guns.
I honestly don't think that the average inner city gangbanger should have the right to own a firearm.
a side note, i grew up in idaho, and am a gun owner and member of the NRA myself.

How many of you who are attempting to sound so educated even own a firearm? A person who has never owned a gun has no idea of what its like to be a responsible gun owner like myself. One simple fact that anyone can understand is that legislating new firearm laws won't effect the violent crimes committed by criminals. Why you ask, because they are CRIMINALS they don't care about the law!!!!!!!!! With people like all of you being part of the voting population helps me understand how a idiot like bush is our president.

No I really like Obama!
I personally think, that the obscene gun laws in the US are a contradiction to the monopoly of power a government should have (according to modern state-theory). By giving every citizen the right to carry an automtic weapon (and the right to use it if he sees fit), the government is willfully giving the rigth to judge about the fate of people away. Not really a sign of a stable democracy...

what the article is saying that he goes against people holding a gun or owning a gun illegally. he is trying to protect us from criminals that wish to hurt your ass. i think obama is right to put in tougher laws to gun holder who do not choose to do so legally.
for example: the police pulls u over and finds a gun in your car and u don't have a licence for it. u should hold accountable for that shit.
thank you for proving why we should vote obama

Really, I don't care...
I care more about what the Supremes will say about gun ownership in a few days.....
It will either be guns 24/7 or not.
Honestly, I can't for the life of me understand your viewpoint...
Here's mine....
My father never owned a gun, there were never guns in my house growing up and there aren't any there.
Although a gun is a tool, most of us don't need a gun to put food on our tables. Personally I think killing a defenseless wild animal for sport is idiocy but if you want to do it and you are careful, be my guest.
For the past nearly 27 years, I've lived near one of the gun death capitals..Philadelphia..
I recall one incident, reported on local tv, where a baby took a graze hit while sleeping in it's bed.
And some years ago, I was fortunate enough to work with a young man, he was paraplegic and one day I asked him how it happened...in a drive by shooting he answered.
Now I don't know how old you are heritage but when I was 6 1/2 my family moved from Boston to Dallas in the summer of 1963. I don't have to tell you what I witnessed..
Now, I'm sure that all of us have family treasures and family legends but during the summer of 1972 we found out about my family legend...
If true...it means...that I lived in the city, just a few miles from where my distant cousin, The President of The United States was assasinated:(
Now, here is my question:
Is your right to bear arms more important than the life of any one ordinary or extrordinary human being?
I think not.
Personally, if I had my way, I would write a law that would make it possible for each and every gun owner to serve for a couple of years on their local police force.
You want your right to own a gun?
I want my distant cousins back...
How about "them apples"?

Argon is right, the 2nd amendment does not mean that any idiot should own a gun and be able to use it any way he pleases. Giving citizens rifles and assault rifles is just asking for trouble. He's protecting our rights and our amendment by following it faithfully.
If you're going to scream about rights abuses, you should focus on McCain and the current administration.

Maybe he hates that a lot of people leave out the part of the 2nd ammendment that states "A well regulated Militia" and the distortions that go along with that?
It might drive Obama crazy that people get it wrong since From 1992 to 2004 he also taught constitutional law at the University of Chicago Law School. So it's probably a pet peeve of his how a lot of people misinterpret it.
