Obama dismisses Dobson criticism about Bible

Barack Obama said Tuesday that evangelical leader James Dobson was "making stuff up" when he accused the presumed Democratic presidential nominee of distorting the Bible.

Because only the interpretation of any religious idea is valid when an evangelical says it is..

    • You're assuming that James Dobson is a preacher. I've met Dobson and he's not a preacher. He's a psychologist who happens to have very strong Christian roots and who happens to believe in the teachings of the Bible -- something to which the rest of America needs to get back. Frankly, Dobson is right on the money with his evaluation of Obama. Obama is a typical atheist liberal who only claims to be religious so that he doesn't alienate the religious independents out there from whom he needs support. It's no surprise that he would dismiss Dobson. If it's religious liberals will just blow it off as drivel.

      Keep religion out of politics (on both sides) and everyone would be safe. Religious belief does not necessarily run hand i hand with great leadership or leadership at all. Also, the protestant reformation put the idea of God and the interpretations into the minds of the followers, so be critical of someone's personal interpretation for a political smear is simply un-Christian in itself is it not? Americans look for a religious leader simply because they attempt to equate religion with character and value. If the Catholic church teaches us anything, we know that you can be very religious and have absolutely no character or value. The bottom line is this, you can claim that America needs to follow the teachings of the Bible, but please identify which ones. You can cherry pick all day the ones you think are virtuous and righteous and discard the ones that seem archaic simply based on your personal opinion. The main problem with America is not religion or seemingly the lack thereof, but it is the breakdown of the family (and I don't mean gays). Lack of parenting responsibility is the largest crime upon our society.
