Impending naval blockade against Iran?

Image
resolute
Congress has gone mad for sure. This resolution of a naval blockade against Iran could be considered an act of war.

Hello Americans. Call your congressman and tell them you don't want another war!

    • America has A.D.D. We can't finish anything we start. It seems like we are just taking over the middle east one country at a time. Which one is on the agenda after Iran?

    • Conniepae, where do I begin?

      1) Nobody lied. That is a bumper-sticker response written by liberal losers who can't come up with irrefutable proof. BTW: there isn't any.

      2) The sense of urgency was based on the National Intelligence Estimate. This little document is prepared for the purposes of saying what is going on where. The level called "Highest probability" means that something is very likely. There is no such thing as a 100% certainty. Everyone in Congress has access to this document; even Liberal leaders like Hillary Clinton, Harry Reid and John Murtha. Additionally, our allies had access to this document as well -- and some even contributed to it.

      3) Yes, it is true that America gave weapons to a Middle-Eastern nation. Your point would be?

      4) The man's name is GEORGES SADA and he has told our leaders about the smuggling. He also put it in a book for everyone to read. Again, please get your facts before making accusations.

      5) You think war is stupid. So do I, but so long as there is evil in this world like there will always be a need for war. I suppose you would prefer that the war be fought in the streets of America? Let's let Islamo-fascists come over here and start fighting. Maybe they'll capture a few of you liberals and hold you hostage and we'll see how good your negotiation skills are when your hands and feet are bound to the point your wrists and ankles are bleeding and you have a scimitar at your throat. But if that isn't enough to scare the hell out of you, think about what Wall Street Journalist Daniel Pearl went through while those evil bastards were hacking his head off.

      6) Your assertion that America us a threat to peace shows a vitriolic hatred for America. Never in its 230+ year existence has America attacked another nation for any kind of personal gain. America has always gone to war only in a defensive and proactive mode. The war in Iraq is no different. Multiple times, our troops have uncovered evidence that Saddam Hussein had manufactured WMDs and had actually used them. There was no doubt in anyone's mind that he continued to have them and that he had the intention of using them himself or selling them to someone who would.

      7) Your post reveals how naive you are. Real leaders do not lead based on stupid political polls. Real leaders listen to the information that is given them and makes a decision how best to serve the people. The reason we have a president is because the people need someone to do what is right -- even if it is not popular. You may not like what is right, but just like when you're sick you have to take medicine to get well or you die.

      8) You said, "I don’t respect you enough to care what you think." If you have no respect, then why loose your venom on me? Is it because you're a thumb-sucking, crybaby, liberal who thinks everything on the Internet is gospel and that because people like Arianna Huffington and George Soros have money and websites that makes them credible information sources? Do you know what "propaganda" means? Probably not because no doubt you went to a government-run, liberal indoctrination facility (short name: public school). You're another liberal Kool-Aid drinker who wouldn't know the truth if it bit you on the leg.

      9) Finally, George W. Bush has not committed any crime for which he deserved to be tried. You think he has, but that is because he did what was right and necessary to maintain world peace and not what you naively think is right. Appeasement is not new. It has been around since long before your parents were born. Something else that you said really disturbs me: "If someone decides to bomb us, then rebuild us..." I'm not really fond of the idea of my family being murdered just so you can have your way. Remember, Islamo-fascists want to kill you because you're an American. They could care less if you vote for Barack Obama or Mickey Mouse.

You really need to get a clue.

    • Decarson,, it doesn’t matter to me if you are a yes man for George W. or not. In answer to your #1 point, yes people did things wrong, THEY LIED. #2. EVERYONE knew we had supplied them with weapons to fight Iran, they lied about the urgency and the facts. #3. If George Sada knew the weapons had been smuggled (as you refer to it) out of Iraq, he should have told George W. #4. That comment is just stupid, war is necessary to maintain peace. You justify every country who doesn’t like our wars, justification to come to America, bomb us to shit, take over our streets, raid our homes, use depleted uranium, white phosphorous, cluster bombs, unmanned planes, etc, to take away WMD’s which the world know we have, to bring peace to the rest of the world.

We are a threat to peace! Case in point George W.’s name will replace the name Adolf Hitler in history books as a evil ‘decider’. When people refer to George W. as Adolf Hitler the ‘dictator’, they are wrong in the fact that George W. is different, he chose to be called ‘The decider’ not the dictator. George W. and Dick Chency’s answer to the majority of Americans who don’t agree with their war policies (SO). So is more along the line of what a ‘decider’ would say, NOT A LEADER.

APPEASEMENT is a new word, used to discredit those who don’t agree with them. LIBERALS ARE AN EMBARRASSMENT? YOU, ARMCHAIR, CHICKENHAWK WARRIORS ARE DANGEROUS TO AMERICA AND THE WORLD! HOSPITALS WOULD NOT HAVE TO BE REBUILT BY AMERICAN CONTRACTORS IF WE HADN’T LIED AND BLOWN THEM UP. HOSPITALS SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN BOMBED DURING WAR, THAT’S A WAR CRIME.

I don’t have to find shit for you to agree with me. I don’t care if YOU agree with me. Your comments illustrate you are one of the chickenhawks, I don’t respect you enough to care what you think. I’M AN ‘AMERICAN’ WHO THINKS WHATEVER GOOD IS GOING ON IN IRAQ, IS SAD – WE SHOULDN’T HAVE LIED TO DESTROY THEM IN THE FIRST PLACE!

If someone decides to bomb us, then rebuild us, it won’t make it right, even if they are justified to think George W. is bad for the world. I would rather the WORLD COURT would try George W. for his crimes, instead of destroying America to prove it. LIBERALS ARE AN EMBARASSMENT? YOU RIGHT WING NEOCON WARMONGERS ‘SHAME’ US ALL!

    • Conniepae: I suppose that you think I'm a "yes man" for Bush. 1) there were mistakes made regarding Iraq but so far no one has done anything wrong. 2)the intelligence, which EVERYONE of any level of importance in Washington saw had the highest confidence that Hussein was hoarding WMDs 3) those weapons were smuggled out of Iraq long before we went in -- go look up a man named Georges Sada, he'll tell you all about how it was done. 4) War is not pretty, but it is sometimes necessary to maintain peace.

These PTSD soldiers are getting a raw deal but that's not Bush's fault. That's compliments of the liberals in Congress who want to punish those who serve their country. Liberals have this warped mindset that peace is the absence of war and can be a permanent state of being. Peace is knowing that you care 100% able to defend yourself in the event you are attacked by an evil fascist dictator like Saddam Hussein or Kim Jong-il. AND so long as there is evil in this world, there will always be a threat to peace. You cannot negotiate with people who threaten peace -- case in point Adolf Hitler. Appeasement does not work and Barack Obama is another Neville Chamberlain. He will throw America under the bus just like he did his own maternal grandmother when it suits his political needs.

Now, show me irrefutable proof that American solders in Iraq have 1) "created" refugees 2) murdered Iraqis and 3) infrastructure that has not been rebuilt.

I have met a soldier who just came back from Iraq. He was stationed in Basra. He told stories of how the soldiers in that town spent days doing nothing because there were no insurgent attacks. The hospitals and roads and schools had already been rebuilt by American contractors so there was no real reason for American soldiers to be in Basra. They were living as if they were on base here in America -- they came and went pretty much as they pleased. They got up when they wanted -- not at dawn. There were no IEDs going off. There was NOTHING THERE! Except for the 112 degree heat, this soldier said it was like being in Phoenix.

So, find me irrefutable stories that prove your allegations and I'll look them over. Mind you, if they come from American news sources, their content is suspect from the word "GO" because except for Fox News, all American media is in the tank for liberals and they will never report anything good that has happened in Iraq. Liberals are vested in defeat in Iraq and it is an embarrassment.

    • First off I love how this story is number twenty on current.com. Free speech is great but in the end it means jack if you don’t know what to talk about. This resolution is huge.

Economic sanctions have done nothing to stop the Iranians from pursuing their objectives. All we’re doing is robbing money from their economy while strengthening the position of their government. I think the US (and not just the Bush administration) is attempting to force the hand of the Iranians.

There is no way in hell that we’re going to search everything that comes in and out of Iran plus block all Iranian diplomats from exiting the country without a violent clash. This bill is bullshit. It’s just setting up the framework for our Iranian “Gulf of Tonkin incident.”

At this point we might as well scrap the constitution , elect Schwarzenegger to president and prepare for world war 3. If we go to war with Iran you can forget about getting out of Iraq. Not even the messiah, or Obama, would be stupid enough to drop the “q” for an “n.”

    • So our Congress, predominantly led by liberal, bong-smoking, America-hating, peace and love mongering fools is actively promoting a war between Israel and Iran? How interesting since the United States military (even in its Bill Clinton eviscerated state) could wipe both countries off the map and yet, we've managed not to go that route.

Wasn't it Franklin Delano Roosevelt who asked Congress to declare war on Japan after Japan bombed the United States Pacific Fleet back to the Stone Age? Doesn't sound like a very good liberal Democrat to me. Tsk, tsk, you liberals need to make up your minds here. Are you all about peace and love or are you about what America has always been about: standing up for the little guy against bullies. If you'd had your way in 1941, the whole world would be Nazi right now.

I can’t justify Congress actively promoting war between Israel and Iran. I deplore their actions! As far as your bong-smoking comment, I wish they would smoke a joint, bong, whatever and come back to reality, we are not supposed to be warmongers. I can’t think of what to do with Democrats or Republicans? Americans need to stand up to both parties and demand they become Americans. If they want to be Israeli’s they should leave America and go to Israel. They should not be getting our tax dollars to represent Israel! America first, second and third! The Democrats have not been making good decisions for America either. There are a few, but those voices are not heard above the war rhetoric for Israel.

    • No-ho-no.

This is dumb. Israel needs to be dropped like a hot potato in the precipice of hell for all anyone in this world could care. They are causing more trouble than they are worth and they have no oil.

Congress is the bad guy more so than Bush ever was or could be. Congress will go down history as the most inept of any Congress in the history of the United States. They can't get anything done unless the right amount of money is wave for donating.

      Is Obama backing this?

He seems to be inching his way towards the middle more and more and people are just allowing it.

America_Again, you are a disappointment. The fact that people like you want to post these type of comments and act as though you have a 'gotcha on me' is sad.

I make my point, we need to hold them all accountable. You choose to high light, what I stated about 'the Democrats have been a total disappointment' as though it's a feather in your 'right wing cap'? Are you that shallow? I make a point, and you want a feather? Get a life. You aren't doing anything but illustrating your lack of actual character. You are right, with no left, half a person? You need to get some balance in your life. Be a patriot American and care about America, not right, or left, American!

    • That's clever: blockade a country partially surrounded by water.

I get what you mean person above. Let me give an analogy: Cancer tumours are so hard to destroy because they have poor blood supplies, poor blood means low oxygen meaning the immune system doesn't work. Now the best way to fix this problem is by fixing the blood supply so that medicinde is evenly distributed and the immune system works more efficiently so there is more success in removing the tumour. Obviously if we just try and try to destroy this tumour with lots of toxins were affecting the rest of the healthy body.

Apply this logic to war if you get where i'm going. A full on attack is going to damage what's healthy, as seens in the Iraq war and the damage its cost between people who liked America but don't anymore. At its base, Iran is a republic, which is what America was founded on during the American revolution; surely you may think, that with encouragement it can become similar to an American government, albeit better. It doesn't need force, it needs a catalyst. (something that speeds up a reaction by providing an alternative route, without being consumed by the reaction.)

    • First up I'm really not into a war with Iran BUT has anyone here saying how bad it is for America to take any kind of real action against Iran got any answer to how we may stop them building nukes and potentially causing the whole region to nuke up making the world a rather more dangerous place to be in?

That’s basically fear rhetoric. We are the ones who have threatened to use tactical nukes. A nuke is a nuke is a nuke. We have used depleted uranium in Afghanistan and Iraq, we are causing future Iraqi and Afghanistan’s children to be born with severe birth defects, due to depleted uranium. It’s like the pot calling the kettle black! We aren’t innocent. Depleted uranium stays in the soil for hundreds of years! FACT!

    • The point of the article is not just that congress are trying to spark a conflict by effectively calling for a naval blockade of Iran which will shoot oil prices well past $200 dollars a barrel but that the proposals H.CON RES362 and the sister paper S.RES 580 have been put in place effectively by the Zionist lobby AIPAC go and look at the article and then go and look at the issue memos on AIPAC's website they are almost identical. Congress time and time again ass licks the Israeli lobby

Oil companies in America are making more for their oil. Guaranteed larger income per barrel as long as they keep us and the world afraid.

What amount will they earn per barrel for their oil here in Texas if they cut off supplies from other parts of the world? Their oil will be more valuable if we can't get it from other places.

unless mccain is elected. but if that happens I'm moving abroad so it doesn't really matter. smiles

decarson, okay, if we can supply you footage of George W. telling us a couple of years ago that he thought 30,000 to 40,000 Iraqi’s had died, would that be an acceptable number? How about millions of ordinary Iraqi women and children we made ‘refugees’? How about destroyed their infrastructure? Did you see ‘Shock and Awe’? How many Iraqi’s do you think died during that.

Have you listened to any of the troops that have come home with PTSD and been denied benefits because our government said, ‘their condition was pre-existing’? So they took people who had shown signs of PTSD before they joined? An email instructing military doctors not to diagnose PTSD doesn’t mean it’s not PTSD, it just means they are short changing the troops. Did you watch the Winter Soldiers video? George Soros didn’t tell them what to say.

Three buildings falling from two planes in New York was enough to change our way of life. We have re-written what is torture. We have let them illegally wire tap us and now made it legal. Our Constitution has been trampled, some even describe it as a ‘piece of paper’. What will it take for us to be American, not left, or right? Dialog without name calling, ‘left’, ‘right’, as though they are dirty words.

Jeromecon how old are you? Your post can’t come from an adult! Are you too young to understand the consequences of war? Politics aside, it’s just wrong! Suggesting war from the privacy of your own home or dorm room is crazy and immature. Osama instead of Obama is childish! Not left or right, CHILD!

Calling someone weak for not wanting OTHERS to go to war, is not mature or right. It’s just plain WRONG! This divide and conquer mentality is ruining our country, while we ruin the world. We aren’t doing our destruction on American soil. George W. and the neocons took us to war on someone else’s soil and said, ’Bring it on’, that’s borderline crazy! Or, downright greedy, with a plan for how to get their oil. Right now western oil companies are negotiating for Iraqi oil. That is the end game they were looking for and now they want Iran’s oil. I say NO! OUR SOLDIERS LIVES ARE NOT FOR SALE!

Don’t think this war is in anyway moral, or right. Greed is what has caused this war. War profiteers have made obscene amounts of our tax dollars. Borrowed wealth for them at the expense of our children. The money George W. is using to fight this war is being borrowed, going into the hands of his friends. Democrats and republicans are guilty. Too many democrats have gone along with the war, blindly following along while also being invested in companies that are profiting from war.
