After putting up the photos of Steinberg and Reddicliffe, Fox & Friends also featured a photograph of Steinberg's face superimposed over that of a poodle, while Reddicliffe's face was superimposed over that of the man holding the poodle's leash.

Generally, the only people who watch Fox News are either extremely close-minded republicans, or people of any political party who realize its' level of ridiculousness and want a good laugh. This story shows an opitamy of propoganda by means of digitally altering something to make you feel or believe the way someone else wants you to. It's sad when people obliviously succomb to external factors instead of evaluating internally by using their own minds to disect matters.

Fox is constantly reporting false information. A perfect example would be when they reported that Obama attended a terrorist training school. Later, actual research into the issue revealed the school was a regular school. It had nothing to do with terrorism, and the majority of the students were actually Christian.
There is nothing new here. Americans should know not to believe everything they see/read.
To be a true American is to question and investigate, do not just sit by and remain silent.

Remember when Time Magazine darkened OJ's face to make him look "blacker?" It was hard not to notice when Newsweek ran the same mugshot unaltered on their cover the same week. Oh, the early days of reporters using Photoshop...

See how they darkened the edges of the Time magazine too? This sort of legitimizes (or not) the modification, in the way that the mugshot is being made a work of art. It's a grey issue, this one. But I do think there is a difference between this (although there are also similiarities) and distorting someone's facial features to make them look more "mediterranean", knowing full well what kind of response it will elicit from an uneducated xenophobic white audience.

Fox News is just a network that panders to its conservative thinking audience. Much like Current TV is a network that panders to its left wing, liberal audience. All of you people that can't stand Fox news sit here on Current.com all day and spew hate and extreme liberal ideology. Are you any better than the Fox News audience? I think not. But oh, I forgot, you're all right, all the time, because you are liberal. So go ahead now and attack my credibility and intelligence, that's all I ever get on this far left site.

Shrug if you will, but if an organization that is attempting to pass itself off as a 'News' organization, this is an odd way of showing it. Having an opinion about someone's news articles is fine, but there is something... odious, about secretly altering the looks of real people you are slamming. It's like something Eleanore Iselin [Manchurian Candidate] would do... The poodle pics: funny. Altered real pics: distasteful.

Fox has already indicated that the news is what they say it is. That involves the altering of text, script, photo and video. The courts, to a certain extent, have agreed with them. Information or misinformation? YOU DECIDE!

Fine, keep your position about the war, but I expect YOU to be the one fighting in it. You know what? Pay for it too while you're at it. I don't see any reason to be there that registers on my value scale. It's actually just giving people more reasons to join terrorist organizations. Ugh, I want a president that understands the word "diplomacy."
"Suit up or shut up!" --courtesy of Rick Noriega, Afghanistan veteran and Texas candidate for the US Senate.
And all this coming from someone who WAS a Republican, staunchly so. The word Democrat left a bad taste in my mouth. This was when my voting issue was fiscal conservatism. Well, with the current administration's FANTASTIC job on that, what with the record-breaking deficit, inflation, and the weak dollar, I have no reason left to vote for anyone in that party.
So my pet issues are now education, renewable resources and green technologies, diplomacy, and responsibly ending an unnecessary and costly war.
I might be a Democrat now...Texas Democrat, at that.

Oh and be honest, the people you are attacking know when things are biased.
For example, I specifically choose to watch Keith Olbermann's show BECAUSE it's so blatantly biased. It's more amusing for me to watch, because i will agree with more of what is said than things on O'Reilly's show. Or I'll watch the BBC because i like different perspectives. I wish you could trust news organizations to deliver information unfiltered and unbiased, but it happens through word choice and the nuances of connotation. If it went through human hands, it's generally been filtered through to make someone feel a certain way. I can go on about how small choices in the editing process can change how viewers see a certain piece, but I think the general point is there.
This just seems to happen more heinously at Fox News. "Terrorist fist jab," anyone?

Amazing that anything to do with FOX either gets voted up or makes it to tv here while real exposes' get kicked to the 75,000s. Perhaps if the people who complain about it so much didn't give it so much attention it would slink away. This isn't important news in the scheme of the world. But I suppose it is easier to discuss.

This reminds me of something children would do, not journalists. They tried to make these guys look ridiculous but in doing so, they showed a total lack of professionalism. I can understand a joke, but to change the photos and not say anything means it was done to intentionally humiliate these guys. Putting their faces on dogs? Seriously... Not to mention the comments they made about one of the men that used to work for fox. A news source that takes criticism like a 10 year old isn't worth watching. Actually I think even a 10 year old could take criticism a little better. I could go on about how this irritated me but I won't. I'm going to school for journalism and for a while I was disheartened by what I was seeing and considered changing career choices. Current came along and changed that for me. Thank god for that because if this is the type of thing I had to look forward to, from a "number one news channel..." I would have given up a long time ago.

Fox news is our generation's video version of "Star" or other tabloid mags. Fox news makes no claim to be a genuine honest news source. Those who care and want integrity in their reporting avoid it. Those who watch soaps and daytime talkshows and feed off of drama to balance their empty lives and love the us vs them mentality. Rupert does not try to justify it. It is what it is and it every person's choice where to get the info. I mean Bill O Reilly is ex paparazzi. Want to dumb down politics let a paparazzo discuss it. They are insidious manipulators who make a living on the discards of the famous. They create reaction not response. It's high time people say "I refuse to respond to that because it is just crap" and " anyone with half a brain should see it". Politicians need to stop beleiving that these people have any sort of real power. Just cause they answer polls does not mean they are a movement. I think liberals have given much too much power to Fox by trying to challenge the crap they produce. It validates their poo. If dems or liberal reps. dismissed it and refused to appear it would make a stronger statement than going toe to toe. If we can learn anything from the Bush admin it's find a story and stick with it. Ignore ignorance.

Let me first say I think Fox News is garbage. No one in their right mind watches that channel for anything but entertainment, and a large percentage of the viewership FOR Fox news are it's competitors for material to use in programs to attack it.
But to keep things truly fair and balanced, is this any more juvenile than MSNBC's Countdown with 'Puppet Theater'?
These tactics are silly and at best provide more fodder for the masses of people who use their time to rail against Fox news.
The best way to get them off of the air? Stop watching them. Ignore them completely. Without ratings they are forced to alter their programming to keep their Brinks and Cialis ad funds coming in.

it's not just Fox News that alters photos. back in the day the Times got in trouble for the OJ Simpson they ran in which his features were altered to make him look meaner and his skin was darkened. sadly this stuff happens a lot, rarely caught.
all TV news is complete BS. CNN is not really any better, its just more liberal so they are fewer people who try to fault it. (Yes, it really does lean left. There have been a multitude of studies regarding it.)

Answers to your questions:
#1 Because it means there's no difference between entertainment and news any more; there was actually a legal distinction imposed by the FCC in the 70's which disallowed this kind of mockery of investigative journalism to occur. It's libel, plain and simple, which, if it were printed in a newspaper, could be sued for. Pretty sad we hold television, which actually reaches more people now, to a lower standard.#2 I do. Lots of other viewers, readers, and informed people do. You should. Anyone who has an interest in news should. Without decency in reporting, we can't trust anything we see on the TV news.
#3 Read the article and you might find out who they are. Then, go back to answer #2.
This should be illegal, or at least punishable by fine .

FauxNews has a long list of problems. I saw them reporting on the election with stock footage of terrorist training camps on the split screen - you know, the one where the scarf-faced people do the running through the tires thing. What one had anything to do with the other in context, I don't know...
They also have an excessive amount of sex stories to fill time between Obama-bashing sessions. Someone should sue for false advertising every time they use "Fair and Balanced." - 3 years ago
