Bar owners in Beijing have been forced by the P.S.B. to sign an agreement 'not to serve blacks or Mongolians'.

One World, One Dream indeed.

    • It's a fake; the story comes from one bad source. It's nothing more than an example of the underside of viewer created content. We hear what we wanna hear, I guess.

    • Why was that ban put in to place on just Blacks and Mongolians.
There are soooo many other races of people that will be there and drink a helluva lot more than the two banned races combined.

    • There are so many reasons not to have the Olympics in China. This is just another notch on the pole. If it wasn't already, it is now quite clear that the entire world has it's head up it's ass.

    • Well, if you look up the story in general online it says that now the govt. denies that they actually said ban blacks and mongolians. They just warned bar owners not to serve those of the stated decent.

    • People have not yet learned to respect each other's innocence...........

culture and religion needs also to be respected even though ways of life can be debated in respect of human rights but to be able to attack the innocence like skin colour/ gender and whatever you are born as, you are still breathing the same air as me and share human-like qualities. Learn not to defeat yourself and others who share the same characteristics to be classed as human.

if this is for real then I hope theres a real good reason why a chinese wants to share the same attutude of the people who called them 'chinks' and 'yellow'

      good 4 u

i love chinese food and the restarant owners who work by my house and i hop they will continue to serve my black self

    • im sorry, everyones shouting human rights but we barely have any in our own countries. i do not agree with this law but i again state the chinese had some sort of official statistic backing it otherwise they wouldn't of underminded revenue, the chinese love money almost as much as non-practising jews. also they are not an incomprehensible racist people. if you want to test how much human rights you have in your own country learn history. if you want to criticise china then learn chinese history and YOU try to understand them, because not even they can.

    • Allowing China to host the Olympics is a great opportunity to pressure them to extend basic human rights across the board, but it seems that they are blowing their opportunity to do what is right.

    • I really hope that if this is true that it makes the major news outlets. The world needs to know this story if this is true. Unless the PRC changes its ways, it is going to piss off a lot of people including its ethnic "non-Han" minorities which means that if the Chinese economy does not sustain growth and a low jobless rate, not only the affected minorities, but the farmers, the industrialists, and working middle class will have a serious bone to pick with the PRC. And seeing how violent the riots are in China when they do occur, that is going to have a very high cost in human life.

    • It must be difficult to clean up all of your "problems" weeks before the Olympics. They want to make their country perfect; no drugs, no prostitution, no pollution, no dog meat - these can all been seen as attempts for improvement but at what cost? And are they doing it for the right reasons?

What are their people going to do after the Olympics? Go back to the way things have always been?

    • I'm not going to fault the Chinese people. It seems their government is really out of touch with the people, or reality. Not even being PC(politically correct), not admitting Blacks and Mongolians will decrease revenue and mar any future idea of having a worldwide sporting event in China.

Great post Aric, its good to see you keeping the dream alive.

    • From the article:
A notice on the Ministry's website on Thursday said that entertainers who "threaten national unity", "whip up ethnic hatred", "violate religious policy or cultural norms" or "advocate obscenity or feudalism and superstition" will be banned. "Feudalism and superstition" are often code words used by the Chinese Government to refer to Tibetans loyal to the Dalai Lama. The move follows the detention of several prominent Tibetan singers.

This is something thats been there for like 6000 years and really, society now-a-days can do very little about it.

But, Black people? come on, China.
Arent you supposed to have good relations with Africa?

I'm not really all that surprised by a country that pisses on its people's rights. This is why I'm boycotting the Olympics.

On the basis of skin tone, that rules out half of the States, Africa, the Pacific Islands, most of the Middle East.

Who the hell is left? The Chinese and Europe?

      I don't believe this.

    • helloimcat:

You might be confused here - it said Mongolians, mongoloids. That fast disappearing racial distinction refers to anyone who is not caucasoid or negroid (also incorrigible terms but nevertheless they exist). Mongolians, however, and the people who claim ancestry or their home to be the semi-autonomous region of Mongolia, directly north of China. I think they meant the people from there instead of the racial category. If they stuck to the racial category then no Chinese person could be served either!
Even so, its a ridiculous notion that people of different skin color or nationality would be so discriminated against in such a way, but I wouldn't put it past the Maoist govt...

    • Great posts KYLELOWER & AYAHUASCA2012-because China is becoming the greatest threat to our planet’s future-regardless of this story. China has become another super power that is causing more harm than good in the world-all for the sake of money & power, which they equate to progress at the expense of our environment & lack of concern for the rest of the world’s well being as long as we keep buying their products. They are quickly becoming one of the biggest threats to the future of humanity while our goal to live healthy & safe lives is put in serious jeopardy. Whenever possible, DO NOT BUY “MADE IN CHINA” or underestimate their negative global impact, & help to safeguard the Earth & all of the systems on which life depends.

By the way, will they be allowing black athletes to participate in the games? Remember Berlin, Germany was embarrassed by the exceptional performance of one, Jesse Owens, in 1936. And there would be no better time or place to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the 1968 Mexico City Olympics Black Power salute that helped bring America’s unfair treatment of its own citizens, who happened to be black-worldwide-energizing an historical movement. I’d like to see the black athletes reignite the issue of civil rights being non-negotiable now & forever no matter what your skin color, ethnicity or whatever is, empowering those without real power to be able to reach their full potential & stand up to the Man whose keeping them down.

Ever since the TIANANMEN SQUARE human rights massacre almost 20 years ago, I have used that as a benchmark of their true progress-not their skyrocketing economy & its devastating effects on our environment-and CHINA IS STILL IN THE DARK AGES OF HUMAN RIGHTS. Another quote from the article,“The local authorities have been cracking down on blacks and Mongolians in an attempt to stamp out drug dealing and prostitution ahead of the Games, the proprietors said “ clearly illustrates China’s prejudicial stance & mindset of the leaders, which is gaining momentum in the trickle down format to the rest of the populace who must toe-the-line or suffer the consequences. Just imagine the inhumane stories going on behind the scenes that will never make the news as China stages itself for the time when most of the world’s eyes fall on them.

It looks like I won’t be alone with my decision to boycott these sham Olympics, that they somehow bought the rights to, having decided a long time ago that I would sleep much better at night given the current state of China’s affairs & their overlooked devastating impact on the world. It’s already a given that they will win the most gold medals & probably most of the medals seeing as they have been preparing for this world-wide attention for years. These games will be as far from the true Olympic spirit of athletic competitiveness as they can get, as marketing their country to the rest of world is the real priority, backed by sponsors riding on Chinese coattails with monetary profits as their only motive. So, BOYCOTT THE BEIJING OLYMPICS, sending China a powerful, undeniable economic & human rights message that the world is watching-just not their games anymore.

08 08 08 can be translated to WE HATE WE HATE WE HATE!

    • darkhorsejim:

Very interesting that your response is "Don't buy Made In China." There are problems with such a solution as:

      1. It is very easy for the PRC to demonise the West if such a boycott were successful as the negative spin the PRC would use is "the West is just trying to keep you down." The PRC already uses this spin if you saw my exchange with a propogandist on one of the other threads here.

      2. Economic disengagement by boycott hurts the average Chinese worker way more than it hurts the PRC. Remember, he who has the biggest cash reserves can better weather any economic storm. If the whole idea of the boycott is to better the situation for the average Chinese person in the long run, how does crippling them economically help them decide that the PRC is bad?

      3. Determining the provenance of a product is not so easy any more thanks to lax labelling laws in the US. Just because something is labelled "Made in China" does not mean that say the paper used for teh packaging does not come the US, Canada, EU, Indonesia, or South Korea. Likewise some product that is labelled "Made in USA", the EU, or other such countries now uses raw materials that come from China. In such a sense, unless the laws of product labelling get more strict in labelling where the raw materials come from, a boycott may not be nearly effective as you think and may still benefit the PRC.

    • I think throwing the race card into it is a little off-point. Apparently they are trying to clean up the city's image by getting rid of known drug and prostitution hot spots (probably not realizing the rest of the world is use to this kind of crap), but hopefully if you're an upstanding citizen of any color you'll be just fine.

The Olympics are full of black athletes and fans, and China isn't a blatantly segregated or racist nation, so I find it hard to believe this article can be taken at face value.
