Navy Officer alleges 4th "hijacked" plane (Flight 93) was SHOT DOWN

Image

"If they hadn't shot down the fourth plane it would've hit the dome," Stone, a Navy officer, said in his opening remarks.

The tribunal's chief prosecutor, Col. Lawrence Morris, later explained that Stone was quoting Hamdan in evidence that will be presented at trial. Morris declined to say if the "dome" was a reference to the U.S. Capitol.

"Virtually no one knew the intended target, but the accused knew," Stone said.

United Airlines Flight 93 crashed in a field in rural Pennsylvania. U.S. officials have never stated it was shot down although rumors saying that abound to this day.

I thought this was an interesting little tidbit as the official story is that it "crashed".
Yet another discripancy in the slew of open-ended unanswered 9-11 questions.

    • If what you say is true, then I would say that the whole thing was either perpetrated or at least assisted by some very high up people in this country. Otherwise, those empty planes should have been able to be identified immediately and subsequently shot down without any question or hesitation. And if the one with passengers was actually shot down, then I would say that it was done to show that someone was at least attempting to do their job. Personally, I would believe that lil W and his band of thugs would be capable of carrying out such a dastardly plot, for obvious reasons, the thieving of our freedoms and rights, in the name of national security, which would have given them the go-ahead to thieve billions more, with everyone's "approval". Ya'll gotta watch out who ya'll elect to represent you!!!!!!

    • On 9/11/2001 the plane in PA. was shot down....
On 9/11 people on that plane were on the phone talking to family members and the guy said the planes fling along side them then you heard boom boom and the phone went dead. The TV reporter said that's canon fire
I heard that noise in the army it canon fire. Never heard that tape again I believe that plane was the only plane with passengers the other planes had no passengers.
Never heard a interview from family members of twin towers planes has anyone?

    • Okay ... Alex Jones is kinda over the top ... but I can't help but think that some of his conspiracy theories have a bit of truth to 'em. For instance: Bohemian Grove.

    • Emily, first of all, I'm very sorry to hear about your dad. It makes me cry for you.
So, obviously, you are way more connected to that horrendous incident than any of us who just 'heard' about it.
I tend to put aside the things in life that I can do nothing about directly or in the short run. I don't have to, or inclined to, keep up with the conspiracy theories.
But I would say this, from studying people my whole life, unless there is definitive proof to the contrary, I would feel there is an extreme possibility that the damage done by the flights, other than the 2 that hit the towers, was minimized (if that is even proper to say) because of the actions of some very brave individuals who knew what had to be done and did everything in their power to minimize the disaster that was inevitable.
I believe (and this is without really knowing anything) that our gov't officials would have said they shot down the planes if that is what happened.
Of course they wouldn't want to assert responsibility for the deaths of all those that perished, but doing so would mean that they actually did the job they are obligated to do, which I feel they obviously did not do, and that is the part that they feel they need to cover up, their inaction, leaving it to the brave, common people on board to save our butts once again.
We are all for more than any of our higher officials and if I were you, I would absolutely consider that my dad stood up on that plane, along with a few other good people and took action, in the face of imminent death. I'm certainly assuming there were a number of heroes on those flights, because that's who WE are.
And I thank you and especially your dad.
Wishing you much love and peace in life.

    • Hey everyone --

While this story was incredibly popular, the title of the story is misleading so our online programming team was unable to feature this in Current:News.

"Navy Officer admits 4th "hijacked" plane (Flight 93) was SHOT DOWN"

This isn't technically true. The Navy officer in question, Timothy Stone, never admitted to this, but was instead quoting Hamdan during his opening remarks. Here is a snippet from the Reuters article, in case you missed it:

"If they hadn't shot down the fourth plane it would've hit the dome," Stone, a Navy officer, said in his opening remarks.

The tribunal's chief prosecutor, Col. Lawrence Morris, later explained that Stone was quoting Hamdan in evidence that will be presented at trial."

Had the title read something along these lines, then it could’ve been featured:

“Navy officer alleges flight 93 didn’t crash — it was shot down”

I hope this helps clear things up a bit.

    • regarding the drills that were going on:

there were similar drills going on during the 7/7 bombings in london. is it really that much of a coincidence? how blatantly obvious do they have to make it

    • I would also like an explanation for the trail of semis parading down the major highways of the United States, all carrying huge constructional components of prisons that are being built at break neck speed. Do we think these prisons are going to be for all our representatives who have finally been prosecuted and convicted of their complicity and participation in the Bush war crimes...hmmmm

    • johnmcstupid:

Sorry johnmcstupid, I don't believe anything the government says at this point. I have no doubt that Bush allowed 9/11 to happen, and bin laden has always been on the US gov payroll, just like Saddam Hussein was until he bucked the system. It is also easy to believe that the Navy shot down Flight 93, and then Bush played up the supposed heroics of the passengers for sympathy's sake.

i think he was being sarcastic

if you've seen a plane crash there is tons of debris. and the hole would be way bigger and longer, maybe three times the size. when i saw this i thought it was completely ridiculous that anyone could believe it. little did i know

    • Consider that they allowed the heroic side of the story to come to the forefront of that flight on that day...namely, the courageous man who made the phone call that happened to be recorded, etc., etc... they played it over and over... it fit perfectly into their scheme of things... "...let's roll." ...how romantic...

But, sometimes the real truth can be ugly...let's consider whether it will send the real criminals to prison...then, perhaps, the GOP will, shortly thereafter, be deceased...

    • Crazy, but this could be a diversion tactic to make people still believe in the official story that the attacks were done by Al Qaeda terrorists at the direction of Bin Laden.

    • Even if the government had a hand in 9/11, that's a misdemeanor compared to their other crimes, naming increasing the threat of nuclear war and environmental disaster, which threaten our entire species.

Information like this just keeps people diverted from the real atrocities.

I am reading Noam Chomsky's book "What we say goes" and he came across a CIA document stating that they purposely leak information like this to keep people worried about "what really happened". It was said that it was done during after Kennedy was shot.

"Why is this discussion of 9/11 treated so tolerantly? I suspect the people in positions of power like it. It's diverting enormous amounts of energy away from the real crimes of the administration, which are far more serious. Suppose they did blow up the World Trade Center? By their standards, that's a minor crime. Increasing the threat of nuclear war and environmental disaster is a far worse crime, which might lead to the extinction of the species."

He talks about the major risks it would have caused the republican party. It would risk ending the party forever and everyone would have been sent to jail or executed. "For what? a pretext for what they were going to do anyways, and they always could have found another pretext."

Killing 3000 people isn't what I would call a minor crime and 9/11 wasn't just used as a pretext for war in the middle east, it was used as a pretext for war against the entire culture of western civilization. Chomsky is waaay off the mark on his opinions on 9/11. See, he's a bit tunnel-visioned and isn't going to live long enough to see the police state that's closing in on us because of 9/11.

    • Donald Rumsfeld said that Flight 93 was shot down on that very day. In fact, most of we now know about 9/11 was admitted on tv that same day, like as bombs in the buildings, military and anti-terror drills going on Guiliani admitting he was warned that the twin towers were going to collapse ect.

Talk about hiding something in plain view.

    • I don't see why it's so controversial. Did anybody actually think the passengers managed to overpower the terrorists and fly the plane into a field? Maybe being in the middle of all the confusion made people more gullible. When I say gullible I don't mean to sound harsh....susceptible to being mis-led is probably what I mean. I have never once had a problem with believing that the plane was shot down by the US Air Force, but perhaps that's because I'm not from the US.

What I don't understand is why there couldn't have just been a press release saying something like "...regrettably there was no alternative to the action we had to pursue, and I'm sure that everyone agrees that it was a marginally better course of action than the possibility of having hundreds of others murdered at the hands of these animals..."

      Wouldn't everyone understand?

I thought the same thing. Its just that there are so many other aspects of their involvement that are being covered up, they don't want to give an inch for fear that it may lead to more inquiry. If it was just a necessary evil, there would be no harm in saying so; it might even make us all feel a bit safer knowing that they had the ability to scramble and protect people on the ground.

I believe passengers took matters into their own hands and did what was necessary. I have a hard time believing that more people wouldn't have done the same on the other planes. I believe, if anything, that someone prevented our military from shooting all of them down, passenger jets or not. It's a matter of national security, and in that text, there should have been no hesitation, as horrendous as that would have been. The Pentagon got completely remodeled in the deal and everyone was willing to give up their civil liberties in the name of national security. How convenient. It's called fascism.

    • Yes; the pattern of what gets buried and what gets to the top is getting a bit too obvious and i've only been here a month. Discouraging that Current is not all that different from all the other corporate media.

We are being fucked from both ends.

    • Nothings confirm its just "talk". The US wouldn't ever let anything like " 93 was shot down" ever into the mainstream. Its just a lieing "terrorist". People would loss serious faith in the US.

    • Becky6378:

I don't like proclaiming conspiracy, but-t-t-t, I always believed since childhood that our government and armed forces had jets constantly in the air all around the vicinity of our capital, ready to shoot down any plane that veered into unauthorized space. There was way more than enough time after the first revelation that something bad was happening, till the following incidents, for no action to have been taken. Either someone intentionally held back "the order" or someone was asleep at the wheel.
The very second it became apparent that we were being attacked, and we were being attacked, the absolute highest of alerts should have been issued, with the presumption that there was more to come. For whomever was in charge to not assume that, makes them totally incompetent, or part of the plot, either directly or indirectly.
