The President has at his disposal the best and the brightest in the Economic field, his job is to gather the best information in this area then make a decision otherwise we could just vote for Alan Greenspan for President. The quality I want in a President is the ability to gather information, delegate to the correct people and make the important decisions based on his belief in what is best for our country, this in turn is based on his belief in certain core values that the people of this country believe in and his life long experiences and accomplishments.

Was that directed at me Tgarius?
Being a doctor who is a "leader" on his softball team is swell, but when it comes to ACTUAL surgical knowledge in the operating room that is more important.
John McCain seems to be a "leader" without any actual knowledge.
In this particular case John McCain has admitted (much to his credit) that he simply doesn't know much about economics.
This is a disturbing comment for a Presidential candidate to make...even more disturbing considering the LENGTH of time he's been in Senate and the ample number of bills that he has had opportunity to vote on.
In all those years he never bother to -- I don't know -- figure it out?
And yet he felt free to vote on bills he (by his own admission!) didn't really understand?
I find that really unsettling.
Even more unsettling than having a Senator vote on bills he doesn't even understand is that the man (apparently) had no interest in learning! He could have easily a) taken a class b) asked Paul Krugman to explain it to him c) researched it on his own --- and yet in all that time he simply never bothered.
If he never bothered to seek out information prior to being President how can we be assured he'll seek out information once in office?

McCain's camp is clearly in tantrum mode. They are in serious need of a seat in the time-out chair.

Well if your playing stupid your doing a good job, what kind of PRESIDENTIAL experience does anyone have prior to the job, the experience is in the area of being a leader in both politics and serving our country, your ignorant remarks and baited comments just go to the problem of having an actual discussion, your more concerned with your ego then the factual basis of your comments. I have no problem with that it's just counter productive even if it is a bit amusing.

Now had McCain changed his views on, say, Iraq based on NEW information being released over the last 2 years -- then that would be a hallmark of good character.
But changing your mind on Martin Luther King Jr's birthday speaks more to playing to the crowd then any deep personal conviction. he pissed off a lot of his base and all he had to do to win them back was just tell'em what they wanted to hear.
On the job training?
What kind of prior Presidential experience does John McCain have?
Now we already know that he has (infamously) admited that he "doesn't understand economics."
Do we really want an 80 (plus) year old man cracking open Economics For Dummies on Day One of his first term while we're currently experiencing inflation and a credit crisis?
Talk about on the job training!

I'm not sure what your trying to point out, to me admitting that you were wrong about something or you may have not acted correctly is something to be admired, to change your mind about something years later or when given new or more information is not flip flopping but exercising open mindedness and judgment that comes along with experience. The difference being that changing the entire platform your running on within the same year is an obvious attempt to get votes, Obama of course does not have a track record to look at so I guess if he is elected it will be "on the job training" .. that's a bit scary.

No the most qualified was the guy who had already been a successful President for eight years whose wife was running. But we decided to throw him under the bus.

Let's look at John McCain "impressive" record in politics:
In 1983, McCain was elected to lead the incoming group of Republican representatives.[ Also that year, he opposed creation of a federal Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, but admitted in 2008: "I was wrong and eventually realized that, in time to give full support [in 1990] for a state holiday in Arizona." (John McCain had the political courage to....bow to all the negative pressure surrounding his original position. Otherwise known as a flip-flop)
McCain's politics at this point were mainly in line with President Ronald Reagan, and he was active on Indian Affairs bills. (Indian Affairs! That's Presidential leadership experience right there....aside from the fact that the state of Indian Reservations did not actually improve under his leadership)
McCain became a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, with which he had formerly done his Navy liaison work; he also joined the Commerce Committee and the Indian Affairs Committee.McCain continued to support the Native American agenda. As first a House member and then a senator, McCain was one of the main authors of the 1988 Indian Gaming Regulatory Act, which codified rules regarding Native American gambling enterprises and established a balance between tribal sovereignty and state regulatory oversight over such enterprises.
(And this makes him more qualified to handle Iraq how?)
McCain became enmeshed in a scandal during the 1980s as one of five United States Senators comprising the so-called "Keating Five".Between 1982 and 1987, McCain had received $112,000 in lawful political contributions from Charles Keating Jr. and his associates at Lincoln Savings and Loan Association, along with trips on Keating's jets[85] that McCain belatedly repayed two years later. In 1987, McCain was one of the five senators whom Keating contacted in order to prevent the government’s seizure of Lincoln, and McCain met twice with federal regulators to discuss the government's investigation of Lincoln. On his Keating Five experience, McCain has said: "The appearance of it was wrong. It's a wrong appearance when a group of senators appear in a meeting with a group of regulators, because it conveys the impression of undue and improper influence. And it was the wrong thing to do." In the end, McCain was cleared by the Senate Ethics Committee of acting improperly or violating any law or Senate rule, but was mildly rebuked for exercising "poor judgment"
(Ah, so extremely poor judgement makes him the most qualified candidate for President!)

He's been in the Senate for less than two years and most of that he's spent running for President. Besides rock star media attention what does he bring to the office?

Well yes that's the point, smiling, cheering crowds do not a President make.. if it does then maybe they should run Paris Hilton, I think the same folks that are pushing for Obama would probably vote for her.
On the other hand whats with that McCain face thing at the end, gazing out at what?? obviously some PR guy told him that looked Presidential but it just looks stupid to me...
