    • Russia's sniper currently in use is the Dragonov SVD, which fires a 7.62x54mmR bullet. Georgia's military currently uses both the SVD and the M93 Black Arrow, which fires a DSHK 12.7 x 108 mm and Browning 12.7 x 99 mm NATO round. Not only is it hard to believe that someone could miss a shot so badly with these rifles considering the telescopic sights that make fireing so easy a child could do it(and they have), but also if one of these rounds is close enough to your skin to "graze" you, the ballistic damage would rip the area surrounding the wound to shreads. It wouldnt have been a little scrape like that woman had. Also she would have not calmly kept on reporting, she would have screaming on the ground in agony. Just saying a little shady....

    • Obviously only the Georgian side would gain from firing on Georgian press. The nature of the wound could have been intentional. Also we didn't see the wound closely in person and she might well have fabricated the incident without firing into the arm at all. Otherwise the Goergian Special Forces are still in Gori and even in Southern Ossetia to this day. Today two carloads of them armed to the teeth tried to cause an incident at the main tunnel (Rockosi). They managed to escape although one of their cars was made unuseable by gunfire from Southern Ossetian and Russian forces during the chase. They left behind 18 grenade launchers, grenades and ammo in the abandoned car. We are aware that the Georgian forces have already been firing on Georgian residential regions for the purpose of anti-Russian propoganda. War is hell, welcome and have a nice day.

Purple, if that was a sure shot from either side. That lady would not be reporting the news this morning.
But, like I said, none of those shots were, M16, or. AK74 rounds.

She was not shot by a SNIPER. It was not from a Russian round,, or,, a NATO round.
I heard the shot. It was neither.
Plus, I heard her talk,, It was a sniper, but I don't know where it came from. It could have been from either side

    • If it was from a sniper, either, NATO round, or Eastern Bloc. She would have been on the ground, Dead. Before we ever heard the report of the rifle

    • I'm thinking it's fake as well... at least the clip I saw.

Dabne's experience and observations about being in war make the most sense to Me.

my hunch in the first few moments told me this is not real and when you see the crew guy peer into the camera like "is this thing gonna work, are they buying it?" you know that type of look was on his face for a moment

If I'm wrong I shall eat crow but I go with my gut.

rodierick, Have you ever watched any film clips of the sound an A.K. 74 makes? I know, commonly referred as the A.K.47. A misnomer, by the way.
It sounds nothing like the heavy round that is fired from an A.K..
But, it also doesn't sound like an M16 either. Or it's younger brother. The M4.
Both rifles make a distinct sound. And neither would be confused as coming from , a NATO round, or, an Eastern Block round

    • This looks completely fake. First of all, even if the bullet had just grazed her arm, which is highly unlikely if she had been targeted by a sniper, a sniper's would have left much more damage and we would have heard a lot more screaming. That looked like some popping noises and the reporter running off to the side, smearing her arm with some fake blood, and hardly wincing when her arm was almost blown off. Ballistic damage tears people apart.

    • very suspicious indeed. As a former war vet who has seen combat this did not look like a serious incident. You can see two people on the road behind her when the shooting starts who do not move off the road when the shots are heard. Also as mentioned above, there is no run for cover.

When somebody is hit from an unseen sniper, the first thing people do, even armed soldiers, is find cover and stay there until the sniper is located. These people are walking around and picking things up as if nothing had happened.

I'm not going to come out and say this is propaganda, but it certainly has a lot of elements to be. There are also five shots heard, they sound a bit funny, and where did the other four end up? Snipers don't fire five consecutive shots and miss there targets. And why would they be shooting live TV reporters. Makes no sense. Even the blood and wound did not look consistent. If anything it was a stray or misdirected from miles and miles a way. Even that's a stretch with the noise of the shots. And why is the camera man the only one going crazy when everyone else is calm. He's just adding the dramatic blair witch effect trying to make a calm setting look crazy. Seriously, watch it again and tell me what he's doing?

It would make sense for Georgia to put something like this online as they are defenseless to the brutal Russian onslaught.

First of all i think the word "sniper" is being thrown around with the wrong connotation . People are thinking they mean trained marksman , but it is clearly just someone firing from concealment . I mean come on what sniper do you know who cant hit someone with a bright yellow shirt ? That is no "sniper" Snipers love head shots by the way . Now for the propaganda part the only part i need to look at is the 0:06 mark thats a real reaction just look right there thats a startled female response .

    • Doesn't it strike you as strange that they all did not immediately take cover but hung around notwithstanding, without ducking or anything like that, as if they knew there wasn't any real danger? It certainly struck me.

My thoughts exactly. I pray this wasn't staged. But as to motive, why shoot at what is an obvious News Crew? Unless the specific objective was to eliminate the target, and "any trace evidence" you were there. If that happened in my neck of the woods, I would have dove under the van, or at least drove away as fast as possible. I don't think it's the nature of us, much less any journalist, to stand around, marvel at the wound for your 15 seconds of fame, still having time to casually put on a flack jacket for the sniper to get off another shot. Oh Puleaze... this is classic Geraldo Rivera.

    • Damn that was scary. Lucky woman! I'm a little skeptical that was an accident though. Snipers are known for their eyesight and precision. I just got a very bad feeling it was a warning shot. As in, get the hell out of here, reporters, so we can commit some war crimes.

    • Depends of how far away he/she was, sniper rounds can be heavily effected by wind. the sniper probably had a headshot that was deviated by the wind/distance.

I think most snipers know how to adjust for the wind.
How far do you think a sniper must qualify at?

She was saying something about being shot by a sniper. She didn't quite see where it was coming from. But it hurts like hell.

But she doesn't say which side the shots were from.

Lmao V, you go girl. Way to prove you’re the biggest hypocrite on current.com Georgian snipers can’t shoot, yeah that’s not racist or anything. Hey I heard some kid drowned the other day, should I go ahead and assume you think he’s black or is there another racial group that you would like to take the opportunity to offend?

Yeah and don’t forget that rubber bullets are designed to fire at a reduced velocity then your average bullet. Therefore a sniper rifle rubber bullet round is kind of an oxymoron since a sniper rifle is in itself a high powered rifle. In other words there is no such thing as a less than lethal, long range round.

You simply cannot accurately propel a hundred plus grams of rubber onto a target without maintaining a considerable velocity. Plus rubber bullets are not less than lethal just because rubber is softer then metal. They’re designed to bounce off hard surfaces and then strike the target.

    • There is an outside chance she just caught a stray round, but considering the building over her left shoulder, I'd say it came from there.

Cowards. This is turning into Sarajevo all over again.

She got lucky alright. Lucky she was just a bit too far away and lucky the sniper wasn't that good.
