Ten German nudists may have to give up their hobby of naked mountain climbing after one of the men was arrested for indecent exposure.

The Germans, who come from the eastern region of Saxony, spend their time conquering summits with nothing but a rucksack on their bare back.

But the authorities are not impressed at seeing bare bums and tackle on display on their beautiful mountain paths. For several months they issued nude climber Siegfried Grawert (51) countless fines for indecent exposure and disturbing the peace, amounting to over 2,000 Euros

But Grawert has so far refused to pay.

Now Grawert has to sit – fully clothed – for ten days in a small prison cell in Nuremberg. If the stubborn German still refuses to pay a fine for his naked hiking, he may be sitting there a while longer.

But Siegfried is determined to fight for his nudist rights: “Many think I am sick, an exhibitionist but that’s not the case. Being naked is the most natural thing in the world.”

The group of German nudist friends see no problem with their hobby. Siegfried explains: “We don’t need clothes, don’t have to do laundry, save time and are helping the environment. The skin can breathe better. It makes me stronger.”

Despite his claims that being naked 'makes him stronger', the photo album on the site begs the question: Should he be forced to pay a fine? Is the naked body that distasteful?

    • naked hiking sounds awesome. I agree nudists should stay in designated nudist areas... wherever such exist.. however I'd be all for it.. in fact it will have to go on my "to do" list!

    • They should hike here in Vermont. Still legal to walk around almost anywhere in da buff (some towns have area ordinances).

Though, I will not be disappointed if they do not.

    • Taking a dump is just as natural as being naked. That does not mean it is your right to make me watch! Why are we so incapable of using common sense? If the norm is to wear close at the park, you wear cloths. I can’t see a family of prudes going to the local nudist camp for an outing. It really does not seem reasonable for the nudist to go to a public area and expect that everybody is going to want to see what they have to offer. Common sense and courtesy, vanishing arts!

      Wake up!

Just because everyone else is wearing clothes doesn't necessarily make it right. People challenge convention all the time and in many cases it betters our society so who is to say that wearing clothes is a taboo subject of debate.
