A statement from Greater Manchester police today described how the victim was approached on Sunday night as he stood outside a house on Joan Street, Moston, with another 37-year-old man.
The offender told the men to turn the music down before producing a 12-inch knife and chasing the 20-year-old for a short distance.
The victim was taken to hospital with stab wounds to his left thigh and torso. He is currently in a stable condition and his injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

It's a shame we live in a world with people that do not have nothing better to do but stab one another.

When I was in high school, an older man stabbed one of the local youths for playing his music too loud at a party. As a result the youth died. He was only 21 years old, very outgoing and a progressive thinker. It was a terrible senseless tragedy, that I shall never forget...
It's too bad that the two sides couldn't comprimise, but loud music is no excuse for assault or murder, anyway. I guess headbangers and hotheads will never get along. Perhaps they both need therapy...To the hothead, the loud music is torture...to the headbanger, it's therapy...

If kids aren't given healthy boundaries when they are young they grow up to have no self control. We are going to see many more of these stories in the future because discipline is now considered abuse in America.

What is this trend of bringing a knife or weapon to any altercation? Intention or not it is likely to escalate into something terrible.

Trying to solve anti-social behaviour with gross anti-social behaviour, he didn't think that through, did he?

Ironically, no one heard the victim's cries for help over the blasting music.

If somebody was playing Soulja Boy too loud, I can't say I wouldn't do the same thing.

Maybe you all want to read a little more about the issue here.
http://current.com/items/88913959_noise_pollution_doesn_t_just_rattle_your_body_...
Today we have not only the denial of some parts of the population as in addition a faulty legislation that practically put the noise makers, the initial instigators as an accept behavior that should be tolerable and forgot about. If Graffiti is crime why not noise? Noise Trespass must be elevated to the level of crime.

I hope they find the stabber and punish him to the fullest extent of the law. What an outrageous assault. This senseless life-threatening violence must stop. I am glad to see that the victim did not die from his knife wounds. I hope he can recover fully from the heinous attack against him.

mjsmith11:
thank you.
seriously, how can violence be justified in the control of a nuisance?
whether the music was 'too' loud or not, there is no excuse to use violence as a means of control.
(wait, did i just agree with you, mjs? holy crap need to find beer!!! no, need to find liquor!!!! :-P ... j/k ... thx for the comment)

I finally got the point about you two. No wonder you two are so eager to give credit to noise makers and acoustic attackers.

i love current, with all the agreements and disagreements ... as long as they're not taken to a personal level ... like the one directly above this one.

I there such a thing as "justifiable assault" in the UK?
No, I'm kidding...the man clearly overreacted...a little.

I've heard a familar story but it involved an older woman. Violence is not the answer to get what you want. It's ridiculous.
