An initial test on August 17 revealed that the performance enhancer Capsaicin was present in the animal’s blood. According to new International Federation of Equestrian Sports (FEI) regulations, riders must be banned from competition after a single positive doping test. The results of a second test will be announced on Friday.
Four other riders have withdrawn from the finals at the Games: Tony Andre Hansen (Norway), Will Simpson (USA), Denis Lynch (Ireland) and Bernardo Alves (Brazil). It is suspected that the riders withdrew to avoid being caught doping.
Poor horses...

Showjumping is dumb.
It shouldn't be allowed at the olympics. All the hard work is being done by the horse, whereas the rider is in charge of the right timing.
It's the only sports at the olympics where additional tools in form of animals are being used, even though it should all be about the athlete.
On top of that it's a sport that can only been done by people with good finances. Horseriding is expensive, whereas running is basically free.

Tommyjolly:
You MUST have been kicked several times by a horse to think this way!
Jumping is an extremnly technical sport which requires an unbelieveable amount of training and athletic ability. The rider and horse are functioning as one enity...you are having trouble functioning just by yourself.
You don't need to be "rich" to ride...you need to be smart, dedicated, athletic and compassionate in order to compete and win!!
Free your mind....the rest will follow!! - 3 years ago

bla... I might not be open minded in this matter, but I still think it's a sport that shouldn't be olympic.
If the rider is so important, why is it that the horses are always doped and not the rider. ;)
