White supremacists hope Obama win spurs upheaval
Groups expect a racial backlash, think they'll benefit

PEARL, Miss. — They're not exactly rooting for Barack Obama, but prominent white supremacists anticipate a boost to their cause if he becomes the first black president. His election, they say, would trigger a backlash — white people rising up, a revolution of sorts — that they think is long overdue.

He'd be a "visual aid," former Ku Klux Klan leader David Duke said in trying to bring others around to their view that white people have lost control of America. Obama's election, says another, would jar white people into action, writing letters, handing out pamphlets rather than sitting around complaining.

    • Why is it that anytime someone speaks out for European Americans (whites),they are labelled a "white supremecist"?. Dr. Duke never said that "whites are superior to blacks,he primarily wants to end the self hatred & guilt that's been foisted upon us for the last 40 years. If Mexican's can have organizations such as "La Raza" (the race), if black's can have the "congressional black caucus" and other organizations, then there should be no double standard for other races that wish to form groups for the pursuit of their interests. He's not a hater, but he does offer verifiable information & viewpoints that are considered taboo. Check out his site - while you're still legally allowed to.

    • Racism, Sexism, and Ageism are all alive and well. Even here on a news network we have Obesity treated as if it were a contagious disease.

We need to look past color, gender, size, and beauty to find qualities that make someone a good president.

Now I happen to think that a Clinton/Obama or Obama/Clinton team would be the best thing ever.

I too would like to have a president that "looks" like me.

Well it aint Indians hoping for the rise of KKK power. No one said anything about the white man doing anything, but it doesn't help the fact that this is exactly what the articles about. Wrong thread to spurt that thought.

its because its only when a white man says something about racism does it hit the news.

and sorry i overreacted a little bit i just had a debate about this and the genius couldn't understand that racism is racism regardless of what color is doing the hating on another

    • The reason why this ideology simply doesn’t work is because as a black person, as a minority, I never once in my life believed that I would see a president who looked like me. An Obama presidency, no matter successful or not, would show minorities, the oppressed, and the forgotten, that anything is possible.

    • That makes as much sense as any other argument they have since why would it increase racism?

If there was going to be any backlash then it would keep Obama out of office.

Once he gets elected it would only decrease

    • this will help all majorities rise, i believe, how much have majorities and treatment has changed since up to the death of Dr Martin Lurthur King Jr, and its been on pause ever since; to have a majority leader to speak the voice of those that are silenced due to ignorance of prejudice, sterotypical people who think the worse of anyone outside there own race.
yes, mr/ms/mrs/miss white supremacists, this will backlash, but not to the majority, but to u. look down all u want on the proceeding progression, but u will be left behind.

    • I doubt very much there will be any kind of backlash. What there will be is embarrasment because he'll be one of the best presidents the country has ever seen.

    • If you ask me, this would be a clever scare tactic, a great psychology play if you will to get people to fear the idea that if Obama is president something to him, or to blacks.

Its a new day white supremacists, and the last I checked...you guys aren't going to be the majority too much longer. Get a life and read a book.
