The family, including the boy's mother who was diagnosed with hepatitis B several years ago, went on the run after a court ordered them to vaccinate the newborn against the disease that can lead to liver cancer and cirrhosis.
While vaccinations are not compulsory in Australia, New South Wales state health policy mandates that parents of all babies born to hepatitis-B-positive mothers must be offered immunoglobulin for the child within 12 hours of birth and four doses of the vaccine over six months.
What do we think?

I don`t know too much about these vaccinations, but I think it is kind of weird that in many countries they are compulsory. Do they want to force anybody to stay healthy and live forever? Or there is something else behind the scenes? Isn`t it my own responsibility whether I accept the so called "help" or not? How can a vaccination be compulsory in a a so called free country? Tell me this is not weird! What side effects of these vaccines do we know about? There shouldn`t be any, right? :)

I hope that what they've done really is the best for the child, because in the end, that's who matters.

Some vaccinations are not needed such as the flu shot. But some vaccinations such as the polio shot and hepatitis shots are very important.

I understand some parents' fear of vaccination contamination, but I think this is a bit extreme.
Or is there some benefit to having hep B that I am unaware of? - 3 years ago
