America - The Newest Third World Nation

The evil Bush administration has largely completed the process begun years ago of turning America, the most powerful and richest nation in history, into a Third World nation. I remember a lunch, about 21 years ago in Long Beach, California, with the president of an aerospace company, myself, and a senior foreign general. A comment by the general has always stayed with me. He said, “America is a very rich nation, it will take a lot to bring her down”. In the twenty some years after this, I am simply amazed at just how far one crooked president after another, with the assistance of our “bought and paid for” Congress has managed to take us.

Currently we have an economy that is being held together with bailing wire and glue until after the November election. Even CNBC’s Cramer, a capitalist if there ever was one, now says that the American stock market is so rigged that the average person needs to get out NOW (link to a video with him talking about this is http://www.breakthematrix.com/content/Cramer-States-the-Obvious-Markets-are-Rigg... .

    • Can Obama make a change....

We, as a nation, seem to be all for 'bandwagons and band-aids.' We place a band-aid on our major problems and hope that hoping will be enough. We get all worked up when the next exciting thing comes around and jump on. It only needs to be 'exciting' and Obama is certainly exciting, but then, George W Bush was 'exciting' to enough Americans to be able to do the damage that he has done: mass paranoia is certainly exciting.

If we ever, as voters, smarten up enough to choose competence over charisma, we might have a chance. Otherwise, I, like the good Earl of Stirling, will lament our third world condition.

    • The top .01% of the American population owns 22.2% of the wealth and the bottom 90% owns just 4%! When such a small amount of the population owns the majority of the money (and consequently, the stock market) I would argue that it is never safe to have money in the stock market.

This is the type of story that should be on the front page, not all the fucking fluff pieces they currently have!

    • This government is shit, this country is going to shit, and all the complacent Americans in it are shits!

I for one will love it when these corrupt government officials and corporations have to face the music and the firing squad. As long as I am alive, that is what they have coming to them! They will have to pay for what they have done, soon (not soon enough if you ask me)!
