The boyfriend of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin's daughter, Bristol, will join the family of the Republican vice presidential candidate at the GOP convention in St. Paul, Minn.

Levi Johnston's mother said her 18-year-old son left Alaska on Tuesday morning to join the Palin family at the convention where Sen. John McCain will officially receive the Republican nomination for president. The boy's mother, Sherry Johnston, said there had been no pressure put on her son to marry 17-year-old Bristol Palin and the two teens had made plans to wed before it was known she was pregnant.

"This is just a bonus," Johnston said.

    • Isn't this a little soon for Gramper and Caribou Barbie to be desperately pandering to the mulletted, inbred, dirty nailed trailer trash voters of Moose Cockles, Alaska?

    • This makes me sick. The republicans say Bristols baby is off limits. Dont bring the family into the race. But if the tables were turned and say for example if Chelsea Clinton were pregnant, or had a baby. Then you can bet that McCain and Palin would be up on their high morals soap box calling her a whore and a slut.

    • The Palin child’s pregnancy is a microcosm of the difference between the two idealologies-

      education vs. abstinence

      evolution vs. creationism

      diplomacy vs. arbitrary war

      intelligence vs. narcissism

science and liberty vs. right-wing self righteousness

The GOP, know as the party of family values is no longer! You only have to go to the leader George W Bush to know why- it was Bush that killed the GOP party no one else! The hypocrites are among us they are the neocons!

      Obama/Biden vs. McCain/Palin
The choice is more clear than ever!

    • Please don't refer to him as the "baby daddy". As children are "off limits" the appropriate identifying term for him is "grandbaby daddy". . . .

    • This is obscene!

Now the GOP is rewarding that which they are campaigning against.

Are they out of their minds?

MyCane is no longer visible amidst all the Palin flack.

I believe she will be gone by tonight.

    • What strikes me as funny about all of this is how quickly the Republicans have tried to spin this in order to help their collective cause.

"It proves that we're all about family values," says one, or, "it strengthens our pro-life platform," chirps another.

Apparently all of the right wing Stepford husbands and wives got the e-mail with the acceptable talking points just in time.

I'm less concerned about using the baby daddy as a political tool than I'm about a pregnant seventeen year old girl being exploited by the GOP in order to win votes.

    • Now you're attacking the boyfriend? Classy, real classy. What happened to all the talk from Obama worshipers of wanting to talk about issues?

    • JohnA:

the thing of it is, you conservatives have been more than happy to bash on obama's past, and the past of those close to him. But as soon as we start doing it its suddenly all about the issues. neo-cons basically do this for just about every argument but it still cracks me up when you act like the victim.

remember, it's obama who said family is off-limits. because he's the better man (honestly, even I could tear palin apart)
