Choking back tears, Abramoff delivered a highly emotional plea for the judge to exercise leniency, but readily admitted he had done wrong.
"I stand before you a broken man," he said during the two-hour sentencing hearing. "I am not the same man."
Abramoff has served 22 months in prison on a separate conviction involving casinos in Florida. The judge said that the new four-year term will run concurrently with the remainder of that sentence.

UNFAIR! This is way to lenient, has the SOB demonstrated any remorse for his criminal actions? Has he made any public statements asking forgiveness?? Then why the soft time?

I think I had posted on another thread that he got the shorter time as he spent months and months with the authorities and as a result of his overwhelming cooperation they nailed and jailed many many really bad guys. As for remorse, I don't think people like him can even know the meaning of the word. He's a sociopath. Private Ibber

Truly the hat was not a great choice. Was he also wearing black leather gloves? What were his lawyers thinking. Possibly the only worse wardrobe choice would be mirrored sunglasses and a hooded sweatshirt. wtfpotatoes

The politicians involved need to be investigated and brought to trail as well.

Really? Only four? I think he should have been sentence for a longer term. The anti-war protesters outside RNC are being charge with 7 1/2 years.

I know. I posted on that on another story.
The only thing is that Abramoff ratted out many more bad guys like himself. He worked with the FBI from day one. Not that it make him any better but it helped put a ton of other thieves behind bars.
I am outraged about the arrests for assembling.
We'll hopefully get some of those people out as they did nothing wrong.

There is an excellent PBS docu on the whole Abramoff, Indian Casino, K Street/Norquist, et al gang. It was
really well done.
I think it was called Capitol Crimes. Might have been with Bill Moyers.
http://www.pbs.org/moyers/moyersonamerica/capitol/abramoff.htmlNow, it was Senator Barack Obama who sponsored and introduced several bills to reinstate the Senate Ethics Committee and that is why Abramoff and many other crime bosses went down. This is the same Senator who Sarah Palin claims has written NO legislation.
Sorry for the mixing of topics but it may be weeks until I can eat again without puking after this week and it's affecting my focus

Well its a start and I hope they keep working up to the top of the food chain right to Georgie Porgie. They all belong in prison for abuse of power and the United States of America Constitution which they swore to uphold. This congress owes the American people that much at least but realistically, much more in restitution for all the death and destruction as well as bankrupcies, forclosures, increase in the poor population etc. The list of damages goes on and on, Greed has no limit or heart.

I dunno, but if I was begging for leniency from a judge I wouldn't dress like Al Capone.

Lobbyists in prison. Cant they just buy the prison and release themselves? I guess the whole "Do not pass go" and rolling doubles would be a better approach... but still. What is it that I'm getting at?
