Palin won't talk to media during campaign

Image

No questions, please. We'll tell you what you need to know.

According to Nicole Wallace of the McCain campaign, the American people don't care whether Sarah Palin can answer specific questions about foreign and domestic policy. According to Wallace - in an appearance I did with her this morning on Joe Scarborough's show - the American people will learn all they need to know (and all they deserve to know) from Palin's scripted speeches and choreographed appearances on the campaign trail and in campaign ads.

They are betting that Americans are too stupid, ignorant, and lazy to ask why.

    • They MIGHT have gotten away with that IF McCain wasn't 72 and had 4 bouts with cancer! The odds are stacked him long term, and risky short term! If she continues to hide, she'll also continue to live in AK until THEY wise up and throw her out too!

    • I just saw an interview of her on TV not but 2 hours ago.

I'll admit it was some quick questions and she was in the middle of taking care of her kid... But the media always finds away.

    • I forgot to mention, I was listening to this local radio talk show today and all these conservative Repulicans were calling left and right to the show all praising how Palin's speech touched their hearts. They all were saying how brilliant she is, that McCain made the right choice in picking her, that she is what the American people need as our VP. Most that called were old white folks, strong conservative Republicans. One man cried over the phone saying how McCain/Palin touched his heart, stating he's 78 yrs old and he thinks Palin is a true, strong, remarkable, intellegent women, that she's everything a woman shoud be. I later found out that this radio talk show was run by a talk show host who's a conservative Republican because that explains why majority of his callers were Republicans. One man called claiming he was a Democratic and when he tried to argue the case of Palin's experience, the radio host audomatically got testy with the gentleman and started playing loud music in the background on his talk show. I thought that was very rude that this talk show would only welcome Republican callers and dismiss any points that a Demacrat would have to say. The talk show host was more rude at the fact that he would bash Obama everytime one of his cult Republican callers would call and poke fun at Obama and praise McCain/Palin in every angle. At one point, one of his caller mentioned about Palin's speech of Obama being a community organizer. The host then went on to say, "What the hell is a community organizer, and what the hell does a community organizer do anyways?" Up until this day I still don't understand what an organizer does and what is so important about being a community organizer, the host stated on his show. Another Demacrat called saying he's a long time Demacratic but after seeing McCain/Palin's speech he's now switching over to vote for McCain because he truly beleives McCain really cares about our country. I sat there and thought to myself, how sad is it that all these people are so blind by McCain/Palin's compelling story and her star struck that they're not thinking in reality of all the issues that are going on in our country right now. Instead, they're judging this election on personality and style. These people are over looking the fact that it was probably them that voted for Bush/Republicans to run for the white house and now we're all hurting and we're at dead's end. Have some people forgotten that it was Bush who's a Republican that was elected for the last two terms now that failed our country and drove our economy to it's lowest points? I guess some people like what Bush is doing for our country because obviously they don't seem to realize the economy is our biggest issue right now. I guess McCain meant what he said when he stated in his speech, "America, change is coming!". What he really meant is, "America, you deserve what's coming to you!".

    • Why would she talk to the media ?

Most of the media (if we can call that journalism) has tried to destroy her from the 1 second they heard her name.

They do not need an interview.

I hope many newspapers go bankrupt as well as radio or TVs stations.

Many journalists should go to Alaska and breeze the air. It will do them a lot of good. They need reality and forget about fiction

The media to knowhere can meet the bridge to nowhere

    • The doll image above says it perfectly - the object suggests life and an iconic image but it is an image without substance.

When you opt for style, content too often and too easily is submerged or disappears.

When you opt for content, style can be a bonus or irrelevant. But you got what you came for.

For the last 8 years reliance on public manipulation by emotive symbols (while steadfastly avoiding essentials - like debate) has been played to excess. That smoke and mirrors game has worn mighty thin.

Days after Governor Palin's big address (supposedly one far better than a far more detailed one by Senator Obama) Ms. Palin is polling at 60% "undecided."

What voters know about her actual capacity to lead a nation, or work the Washington system is insufficient. Thus the expected bounce isn't there. Nor does it seem that the game plan is to provide any policy insight at all – merely claim that all attacks are bad form while attacking Senator Obama.

Style or Substance? In only one case do you see what a presentation is worth - not just what the package for sale looks like, before you get hit by the fine print.

I wish Palin falls off the face of the Earth along with every news organization, and loud ass Obama and Mccain supporter because you guys are hurting my head. I am still trying to pick the best candidate, but I can't because all the shit I am hearing sounds to shitty to be true or just to damn good to be true. I might just vote for Captain Planet, my ideal choice!

Is she not going to debate Joe Biden? Will that not satisfy you as far as having to defend her record and policies, unscripted. And if she doesn't speak to the media enough for you, you as a voter don't have to vote for her.

I have studied her record, I have listened to her speak, I will watch her debates, and I will listen to any media soundbyte she ends up giving. It will either satisfy the majority of Americans or it won't. It's not our right to tell her how to run for VP on the Republican ticket. However it is our right to vote. Don't worry about what she is doing, she's not even elected yet. She's a simple candidate. Just worry about what you are doing in terms of researching your vote. That's power.

    • I personally couldn't careless about her family or how many guns she has or moose she killed. I just want to know from her mouth what she stands for. everyone is coming out with accusation after accusation about her record but no one from the campaign has given an effort to address any of these issues. they say we call her names and attack her family. sure some of the media did that but what about the rest of the nation what about the people who care about the issues or maybe that doesn't matter anymore. if she has the balls to go on the attack she should have the balls to answer her critics on the ISSUES or at least explain to the American people what she stands for. republicans have said time and time again that she is number two so she doesn't have to be that well versed with the issue. she will be sitting on the national security board , her input will be needed and required, she will be required to challenge McCain on issues and have meaningful discussion as the vp, how is she going to do that if she doesn't know what's going on. I want her to take question and talk to the media even if she has to sit on a conservative media . I want to hear her address this issues unscripted . as a voter tell me where she stands I heard enough of everyone else's opinion I want to know where she stand on issues from her own mouth is that so much to ask or is it another form of sexism?

    • Talk about hypocracy on Republicans! First, they said Obama has no foreign policy and bashes him about being inexperience on that issue over and over again. Then they say he's the biggest celebrity in the world! Yet, McCain goes and picks Palin who has no foreign policy whatsoever! Not to mention, now she's their biggest celebrity for the Republicans. And then they steal Democrat's logo of change. It's like McCain and the Republicans used Palin as a puppet, stringing her along as their icon to attrack undecided voters, especially the women voters. Basically what they're doing is using her sexism to sell for extra votes just to win the election. Talk about double standard!

    • I love the separate rules for the Republicans. We are the party (Democrats) of loose living..... We have no family values.... John McCain turns his life over to his country after being a prisoner, and leaves an injured faithful wife and family, for a newer richer model after his conversion to service . That's family values. Ms. Palin lies like a rug about her record and everyone says "Isn't she cute!!" I lived in Alaska, and I know that women can rise quickly there. There have been great ones, and some terrible ones. She is not terrible, but she is not ethical. Look at her lies about the earmarks. Send the money back, folks. Show your independence.

    • I hear Gov. Palin’s a very hands on & versatile woman/VP candidate with a variety of interests & talents. Her outside interests don't stop at "hockey mom” or overseeing her expanding family, but include a cozy relationship with the oil & gas industry as well as hunting. One of my personal favorites is knowing that she's deftly capable of field dressing a moose, which apparently is quite a feat if your lucky enough to “bag” one of these magnificent creatures.

      The process is as follows:
      1.Clear Your Working Area
      2.Bleed The Animal
3.Preparatory Skin Cuts, Throat to Anus
      4.Break the Breastbone
5.Sever the Wind Pipe and Gullet from the Head
6.Open the Abdomen to the Anus
      7.Split the Pelvic Bone
8.Cut the Diaphragm from the Cavity Wall
      9.Free the Anus and Bladder
10.Roll Out The Abdominal Organs with Anus Attached
11.Remove the Neck and Chest Cavity Organs
      12.Clean the Body Cavity
13.Prepare the Carcass for Cooling or Quartering

She'd fit into Washington perfectly since this is basically what the republicans have done to our country for the last 8 years-gutted it for personal gain while giving it to us up the Anus.

    • Of course she will speak to the media. This is blown way out of proportion. More importantly, she's also going to debate Joe Biden in front of the entire nation. What else do you want?

You can drag her through the mud, you can slander her, you can question her morals, hate on her womanhood, call her a princess, call her a liar, a cheater, an adulterer, attack her daughter, pretend she didn't actually have her down syndrome child, and a bunch of other things I have also read on these current.com posts. But the fact is she's got more toughness and courage and intelligence than all of you and she will handle herself and the liberal media just fine.

I dont hear people picking on her family. I only hear spinners saying people are picking on her family. If they say it often enough people will believe it.

Bull shit! If you arent stating facts, stop spinning shit! Im tired of Republican talking points, they arent facts, they are talking points, plain and simple. Move along.

    • The best part about reading this thread is watching the republicans rationalize this. Everyone else has had 19 months of media scrutiny. She refuses to consent to the same thing as everyone else with less than 9 weeks to go.

I thought your key points were boot straps, no assistance, no affirmative action, let everyone prosper on their own merit, the sweat of their own brow.

But she gets a free pass because she's a woman.

You fucking hypocrites, admit it. Right now you have to deal with the fact you are in direct opposition if everything you say you stand for.

      How does that feel?

    • I'm not sure I would talk to them either. If we had an honest media it would be different. There are still unasnwered questions about Obamas birth certificate. If Obama was some low level government employee he probably could not get a security clearance because of his friends and associates. Now he wants to run the country and have access to all the sensitive information in the world. Who will he give this information to? Will he give it to his terrorist group endorsers? Will he share it with his fellow communists? Are any of these questions being asked much less answered? Of course not. The media is so vested in Obamas victory they don't care. Instead they would rather question whether Palen was really ever pregnant with her latest child. The minimize her executive experience, more than either Obama or Biden, yet don't ask the important questions.
The media is an arm of the Obama campaign. They are irrelevant.

      - Date: October 2nd
      - Site: Washington University (St. Louis)

      - Staging/Answer Format: To be resolved after both parties' Vice Presidential nominees are selected.

    • Here's how it works, see?

Ever passionate about the public interest it is vital for the highest levels of authority to be seen reading and saying whatever makes them look good.

Forget 'Commander in Chief': now it's - 'Commenter in Chief.'

Old fashioned, 2-person debates; question and answer sessions; deep background checks; live, on-camera hesitations-gaffes-blunders, looks of senile-bewilderment-moments of panic; a public left to experience doubts; the option to make clear well-informed choices: they're all just WrongWrongWrong!

So, ah, very deviously 20th century and like Paris might say, "Unhot.". And potentially dangerous to public order. All that is inoperative. Except for that Obama guy. He's the target, sorry, Exception.

We The People are firm on this. Every single one of us refuses to know what a future Republican Vice President – and possibly President! - thinks. No way! What for? What are you up to?

We The People demand, passively, to be allowed to watch Governor Palin read a teleprompter and then we all can get upset when she does. It's a community thing.

We The People are solidly opposed to seeing a candidate cruelly forced to know stuff. It didn't work with Brittney – look what it did to her image, and after they spent all that money making it seem plausible!

We The People understand that knowing too much hurts Democracy or any other enterprise. It's wrong to ask questions. It's bad. Shame on us. All of us.

We The People have spoken - through the Republican echo machine..

What We The People have got right here is The Spectatorship Of The Proletariat.

      See?

These RNC goers and the people that supposedly "are in it for THEM" sure do know how to play this game. But if history has taught us ANYTHING: life's not a fucking game!

They knew the media would jump all over her family issues and they could use that to protect her ignorance when they finally start asking her the tough questions on policy, law etc. It all comes down to the " what does the vice president actually do" comment from her just to know that she knows absolutely nothing and is a puppet.

All you have to do is look back at the 2000 debates to see how the press treats individuals with intelligence, they make them look like bullies because they know facts and they make ill prepared candidates look like victims. Its an Assault on Reason.

The Press made Al Gore look like he was being uppity because he knew facts and was using them against poor George W. The press led Americans to believe they wanted a leader who they would like to have a beer with? I personally wish the press would have left him at the bar. I'm sure Sarah Palin will talk to the media, but the point being made is that she is not going to let the media's bias, especially that of outlets like Time Magazine, get between her and the people of America. Do you really think anyone in the Republican Party trusts the media to do a fair job of getting out their message?

The media did a great job of not questioning Bush's push to invade Iraq, even though it all turned out to be based on lies. It is amazing how Repugs manage to portray themselves as the underdog after holding absolute power for the last 2 administrations. Poor little Republicans, always getting beat up on by the mean old liberal media. The so-called Liberal Media is another Republican myth, like the tax & spend Liberal. Repugs had the media completely under control until late 2006, and nobody has wasted more money than the Chimp in Chief.
