Researchers in Italy and the U.K. tested five major marijuana chemicals called cannabinoids on different strains of MRSA (methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus). All five showed germ-killing activity against the MRSA strains in lab tests. Some synthetic cannabinoids also showed germ-killing capability. The scientists note the cannabinoids kill bacteria in a different way than traditional antibiotics, meaning they might be able to bypass bacterial resistance.

      Yo calisage,
your response came to my computer as though I was the one that said it. No,no,no,no that is not my claim. I know that marijuana has many properties in it to combat many conditions. But like any medicine, one kind of medicine is not going to work the same way for everyone.
I had broken my back and I have peripheral neuropathy of my feet, a extremely painful condition with no help. Even morphine doesn't touch the pain of peripheral neuropathy but smoking pot does, but in my state I risk going to prison if caught--I ask---if 1/3 of the country has legalized medical marijuana is it fair that the rest of us risk going to prison, hefty fines, all kinds of legal problems. I know people in California that have back problems and have marijuana prescriptions and tell me between joking at me how much it helps them. It's just not right! At 60, the older I get the less I like this country.

smoking cannabis daily does have adverse side effects. one that i know of personally is chronic bronchitis. 2-3 years after being a daily smoker i devoloped it. it clearly has its benefits, but try moderation bro.

    • and it has been patented already! Google it, in the patent is a long list of benefits.

and the patent is owned by the USA government, which in my view means it is owned by the people of the USA.

So in the immortal words of Marc Emory "Overgrow them!" with the right amount of effort they can be smoked out.

      You are obviously Canadian lol.
Thanks for being so optimistic, but no, we don't even own our own government anymore.

And Marc Emery is a douche bag, I hear. Rips off people for seeds.

According to the article about MRSA on wikipedia, MRSA kills more people each year than AIDS. And something like a weed can help cure it, unlike many of the antibiotics that we are giving patients which ruin the liver and kidneys. Wow it's surprising we live in a world like this.

    • Amen Mr. Mike. I am a marijuana smoker myself, and I find it helps a lot with being bipolar. It slows everything down so I can stabilize my moods. I told my shrink I was doing this as well, and he said that it would most likely help.Thank you US for not helping us with our medical problems.

    • As a Vietnam Veteran and Purple heart recipient I fought for all fifty states of this United States of America. For the past 18 years I have been a chronic pain suffer due to a broken back and if I get caught smoking pot in my state of Pa. I'll go directly to jail. While 14 other states in this country I would be able to have marijuana prescribed to me. How fair is this? How united is this. It only blows my mind at the mindset of the people responsible for this situation. Why should I have to move to another state to get a medication afforded to others instead of prison while I can be given drugs that are so much more addicting and dangerous than Marijuana? At almost 60, the older I get the less I like this country.
