Sarah Palin Champions Barbaric Aerial Hunting of Wolves and Bears

There is no overpopulation of wolves and bears in Alaska. Sarah Palin's support for this program is to eliminate the wolves' competition with elk hunters. What she forgets is that hunters go for prize elk and moose, wolves go for the weak and sick. Aerial hunting is a cruel and unfair practice. Add this to that the fact that even though it's illegal, she encouraged Fish and Game rangers to kill 14 wolf pups in their dens with no consquences.

Please make sure this video airs on television, people need to see that these tragic occurrences are receiving encouragement by the government. Aerial hunting of wolves or any animal for that matter needs to end, not soon, not tomorrow, NOW.

If you listen around the 3 miniute mark of the short verison of the tape the head of the board talks about going to anchorage to speak to the Gov. He refers to the Gov as "He" not once but twice. Back up the tape a listen again. I did not see a date anywhere but I bet this was taped before she was elected.

Barbaric aerial hunting of wolves and bears. That puts a picture in my mind that is so sad! My heart goes out for the wolves and bears. Call me soft, I dont care, I think it is barbaric.
Eliminate a natural predator for man? They should hang their head in shame! But hey, shame is not part of Republican language, unless its about a blow job.
Bill Clintons blow job didnt put a picture in my mind that I cant erase. Sex is a natural thing. Planes used to kill animals for sport shows total disregard for God s creatures. Shame on them. Fight fair, they have guns, lazy hunting. A bunch of lazy, cruel people who act so righteous? Its an “Assault on Reason”!

Congress may have only had access to what was compiled by the CIA and the Executive branch, but I'm still waiting for an explanation as to why they all voted AT&T et al off the hook...seems to be a pattern emerging here somewhere.
oh wait, AT&T's political action committee contributed the maximum amount allowable by law to the Bush/Cheney campaign...twice. But that STILL doesn't explain why Congress (including Obama) fell in line with the rule of no culpability for those corporations who participated in the illegal spying on Americans program...

That is only true Ricky84, if you believe that the President was fooled by the evidence as well. I vehemently disagree with that flimsy hypothesis.
Personally, knowing the mindset of Cheney and the plan to control the middle east, I have absolutely no doubt the the President, Vice-President and the CIA were complicit in massaging the evidence to fool Congress, the country and the rest of the world.
Remember, Congress only had access to what was compiled by the CIA and the Executive branch.
My third clue after the Downing Street Memos, and the knowledge of an attack plan for Iraq that preceded 9-11 was the refusal of Bush and Cheney to testify under oath to the bi-partisan 9-11 Commission and to testify together with no published transcript.
Please don't insult my intelligence by trying to say Congress was equally culpable.
My OTHER comments were to point out the fallacy of saying the religious right's Christians and Jews were more concerned with the sanctity of life than the left which thought more about the lives of animals.
I pointed out that hypocrisy by pointing out the Religious Right's thoughts about killing soldiers and discarding frozen "souls".
I hope that clears up the intention of my sarcasm plainly enough for you to grasp.
Cheers,
"Ino"
P.S. Dabne, the Rodney King plea "can't we all get along" cuts no ice with me. Until the vast majority of Radio Talk Shows quit the 24/7 fueling of divisiveness, I'm going to call John McCain's penchant for using the term "You can put lipstick on a pig and it's still a pig" at LEAST four times PRIOR to his campaign and his condemning Barack Obama for using it in the context he did AFTER McCain's FOUR PREVIOUS uses of it far more hypocritical.
If you want to know more about where and when McCain used the term on the campaign trail before Obama used it, go to an online version of tonight's MSNBC Countdown show and was a podcast. If you'd like to debate the meaning and Obama's intention after viewing that podcast, come on back and we can talk.

Thanks, incredulous! Now, THAT's funny!
Not exactly, GeoffNI! Nice try at blurring the line, though.
Those of us on the left ALSO like to protect the lives of human beings where those on the Right, Christian Right and Jewish Right see nothing nearly as wrong with killing our young people in an immoral war, slaughtering half a million innocent Iraqis with "collateral damage" and killing countless other innocent people sentenced to die wrongly by execution in our prisons.
Good try at pandering to the self-righteous who would outlaw the "morning after" pill even in the case of rape or incest but who think nothing of "creating up to 100 frozen embryos at a fertility clinic "just in case".
None of you shed a tear when those "extra" fetuses (which are newly-created "souls" according to pro-life advocates) are discarded later to thaw and die in some bio-hazard container in a medical waste dump. There is even a fringe Righty group that "adopts" those fetuses just to make sure they aren't available for stem cell research if funding for that is ever passed. The adoption is for paying for "eternal" sub-freezing refrigeration so that they will never die but remain in some form of suspended animation. They've even thought of battery back up systems in case of power outages. Wow!
Yep, I think you guys seem to have it all figured out.
If Bush hadn't been right about WMD's, Saddam's connection to 9-11, his meeting with Al Qaeda leaders, destabilizing the world's oil supply and all that trickle down super-charging of the economy, you guys might have gotten even more things wrong.

Whoa! Wait a second. There was no justifiable reason for congress to be subservient to the warmongering of the president. Yet many within congress were, including the left. For that reason you cannot lay the blame for the Iraq war solely at the feet of the president nor the Jewish or Christian right. If you are going to condemn an entire group for the actions of a group of individuals then you have to include the Democrats as warmongers for voting in favor of the war.

Inofuilwell:
Oh please, I never attempted to insult your intelligence. I merely argued against the opinion of the Iraq war being exclusively produced by the religious right. The war was not sold to congress as a religious crusade and it certainly was not voted for by the members of the Democratic Party as such. Therefore your talking point becomes moot with the consideration of all those secular democrats who still voted to kill thousands of Iraqis.
Now your idea that my opinion only becomes true if Bush was also deceived by the evidence is bullshit. You can’t honestly believe the war with Iraq was justifiable by anything Bush said no matter if he believed the intelligence or not? Pre-war Iraq was by no means a safe haven for religious extremists. Saddam Hussein wasn’t even a Muslim. Holy hell man are you actually supporting a pre-emptive war strategy to absolve the Democratic party of any wrongdoing?
Like I said before Info, bullshit. It didn’t matter if Saddam had WMD’s or not. Those dead Iraqi civilians did not deserve to die so that a couple of chicken shit politicians could sleep at night.
The other reason why I couldn’t keep myself from leaving a response is your assessment of the right and the death penalty. Again this is an issue that does not fall solely to one side of the spectrum. This is especially true given the Democratic nominee for the vice president is an ardent supporter of the death penalty and has authored legislation on that same particular subject!
In the end it doesn’t matter why Geo defends the life of an animal just like it doesn’t matter why congress justified the war in Iraq. Granted Geo did bait you with a discriminatory comment, but instead of taking the right path you decided to fight fire with fire without considering the shortcomings of your own argument.

I believe in compassion towards Animals based on the Old Testament! Adam had dominon of all creatures. In other words Adam had stewardship. Many Christians have made the mistake of thinking that G_d gave Adam the right to harm and abuse the animals which is not Stewardship. So I believe Christians and Jews should be vegan. I know there are many Jewish Scholars that promote Vegan as G_ds plan for our diets.
What is intresting is that the ones of the left, are Pro-Life only if you are a animal.

As I said in another pod on this same topic, those wolves could have been darted and radio collared, especially during the portion of the year they were feeding pups in their dens.
There is absolutely no way to know how many of those pups slowly died of starvation or were eaten by other predators because their parents had been killed by some guy who paid $8K to a "Big Game Outfitter" to run their mother down and shoot her.
Her actions were nothing more than full acquiescence to the sport hunting lobby and its bosom buddy the NRA.
There are states among the lower 48 that have lost all of their wolves. In Texas, we are not sure that there is a single pure-blooded Red Wolf left. They were last seen in the 1950's when a bounty on wolves still existed.
The only red wolves that we know for sure still exist in Texas today belong to a different sub-species (the Mexican Red Wolf).
I have a friend who called the Alaska Department of Fish & Game before Sarah Palin was nominated for Vice-President and the director of the program tried to blame wolf and bear predation as having a detrimental effect on caribou numbers in a certain area where outfitters took "trophy hunters".
These outfitters are paid thousands of dollars per hunter to guide them to the caribou herds and shoot a huge "trophy" animal.
He sent my friend a link to a chart on predation showing that "large predator" predation was the reason this particular area had fewer caribou.
I fully understand the principles of wildlife management and selective harvesting that insures the health and balance of nature but artificially protecting caribou so that wealthy hunters can kill them instead of wolves is solely economic in purpose.
Even then, my friend and I STILL would not have had a problem with darting and relocating wolves if they were truly overpopulating an area but to actually turn the aerial killing of these animals into ANOTHER form of "killing for pay" and to reap even higher fees because of the thrill of chasing them down by air was a mistake that I hope sinks Sarah Palin.
The Alaska Department of Fish & Game didn't even supervise the killing. They let bush pilots and outfitters pile up big bucks flying wealthy private citizens around to do the killing.
This guy with ADF&G bragged that Alaska has over 11,000 wolves! Woo Hoo!! What a moron. Texas has 50,000 Bobcats and they are considered to be in a sharp decline due to habitat destruction. Alaska is over TWICE as big as Texas!
No ma'am, this stinks, Sarah Palin! Your arrogance and those crocodile tears you shed for aborted rape and incest victims' fetuses is as screwed up as putting the hundreds of thousands of unused frozen embryos fertilized in fertility clinics in medical waste containers and letting them thaw and die on the way to the bio-hazard facility. How many evangelical abortion rights activists feel that they are doing anything wrong when a fertility clinic fertilizes 50-100 "extra" embryos and then freezes them for you in case a couple becomes barren or one spouse becomes sterile later?
You know, whether it is deciding to spend the lobby money from outfitters on darting and collaring those magnificent wolves and allowing them to be transported to other areas in Alaska or adopted by other states instead of killing them or it is allowing frozen embryos scheduled for disposal to live as donor cells in stem sell research projects, Republicans have some mighty twisted values.
Just keep on letting a great percentage of those lobby dollars find their way to your campaign war chest and you're gonna find out that Karma can be as big a B____ as you are. Maybe her daughter's predicament was a little Karma payback for deciding that "abstinence only" would be the only thing kids would be taught.

Kudos to you Dabne for not feeding the collectivist prejudicial mindset.
That being said I don’t support this hunting method at all. Shooting at things while riding shotgun in an airplane does sound fun but I wouldn’t support the tactic when applied to the hunting of wolves. I’d rather use the airplane and twelve gauge shotgun combo to hunt Patriot Act supporters and the likeminded.
To me this sounds like the actions of a fake, mid-life crisis wannabe hunter. These type of guys belong to the same fraternity of hunters that spend thousands of dollars on air conditioned deer blinds with big screen TV’s and whatnot. That’s not hunting at all. It’s elitist cock wagging.
A real hunter does not drive or fly throughout the wilderness looking for the perfect trophy kill. He also does not attempt to minimize the harshness of the wilderness. He deals with it. Most importantly a real hunter eats what he kills and the only trophy he keeps is a tooth or picture.
Simply put what most of these guys do is not hunting, it’s exterminating. Real hunting is hard; it takes skill, patience and knowledge. Any douche could take pop shots at a fleeing wolf from an elevated position with a shotgun. It takes a real hunter to actual deal with the difficulty of the environment and the very real possibility that all his hard work can amount to nothing.

I think people need to just realize how big the divide is becoming between liberals and conservatives. The issues are becoming so divisive that the two can't even have a logical discussion. Is this story really so big an abominable that we have to attack Sarah Palin?
At what point do the two sides find middle ground.
One side calls religion an abomination, the other calls gay marriage an abomination, etc. Everything the other believes in is an abomination!
At some point the two are going to have to settle down and quit insulting each other. Both sides really need to start listening more to better understand each other.

My opinion as a Brit that admittedly knows little about the woman except the stories and speech I've seen in the last week is I don't like her. She believes a load of absurdities better suited to the middle ages. She believes she is acting out God's will. She's a fundatmentalist wrapped in cotten wool giving the right smiles at the right times. A glimpse at a photo of her parents house with it's walls covered with dead animal heads and skins didn't reassure me. In summary all I can say is if America is stupid enough to vote them in then you deserve what you'll get.

I definitely don't agree with the killing of wildlife period....but why do I have a feeling this might be just another quick smear that may not come to fruition as planned?
It is barbaric, and in no place should we kill wildlife to make room for success of humans, but it will take more than a 1 minute video of wolves getting shot by who knows who for who knows what reason. Post an article that states her current support to do so, why, and facts and figures as to why she believes so- as I do not trust any politician, but at least look for facts first before making decisions.
I WON'T be voting for McCain/Palin already, but for the best interest of Americans I wouldn't vote Obama/Biden either.

This woman, as a human being, has lost all respect from me.
Shooting moose is one thing, I can (barely) tolerate but will frown upon that. Even with the cowardly shots from helicopters, if you're not in danger of being killed by the animal it's wrong. But shooting wolves is another thing entirely, it's intolerable. They're beautiful animals and there are very few of them left in the states because of our dickless rangers and game administrators.
I pretty much fucking hate this woman now, she's despicable. Seriously, she has -zero- redeeming character traits.
