It must be nice to be so rich that you don't need any of the government's benefits.

If you are retired, I guess that means you aren't working, either.

You are lucky to have the military take care of your whole career. Guess where that came from? Taxpayers.

For someone who's entire life has been paid for by government, tax free, you sure do hate taxes.

    • You may hear that raising taxes on a damaged economy is a bad idea.

At first glance this sounds like it is a viable argument, but it's not.

Here is a question for naysayers:

Why has tax revenue jumped through the roof, and yet we have had stagnant growth and the average American is making less money?

      Answer:

Money is accumulating in the top tax bracket.

I don't see billionaires having much trouble.

The banks are biting it, because when people don't have enough money to pay their mortgage, the rich can't get much richer unless they take from other rich people.

If we elect McCain, we will see world records being broken in personal wealth on the top. Mark my words.

There is more than plenty for everyone to have whatever they need. This is an abuse of surplus labor value and approaching serf labor. Marx speaks a lot about this.

More taxes on the top causes these rich people to HAVE to pay out on the surplus labor in the form of government financial assistance and jobs.

If we have the 200 billion in additional revenue from taxing the top 1% in accordance with Barack's plan, that would mean that the government could create 5 million new $40,000 a year jobs.

There are about 115 million taxpaying households in this country. This could drop unemployment by over 4 points (down to 2% from 6%)

Put that one in your pipe and smoke it.

    • Nice, leveled sided article to take from there. I'm glad we use such non-biased stories to start debate and rally support.

So in response to a response, raising our taxes under Obama is a good thing? I'm sorry but I can barely survive with what I make after taxes as is. Cutting taxes for war effort may not be the answer, so why don't we complain about the war propaganda, not the tax cuts. We should be complaining about the $600 tax credits Bush had mailed out this year and the billions that cost. And where is McCain promising war? But please, how in the hell is Obama's tax increases going to be good for the economy? Tax the hard working more, and redistribute to the poor (or in my terms- tax me more to supposedly help ME?) Are we socialists now?

Why don't you Obama fans (and Mccain fans) listen to someone like Ron Paul with strong fiscal policy but won't tax us to death and will keep government out of our lives and steer away from war? Is it that bad to have the best of both and not the lesser of two evils?

Your right I really do like Ron Paul.
Im a centrist, Ron Paul doent have a chance even though he makes better sence then Obama and Mccain>

I cant afford no more Bush policies which McCain advocates.
      So the choice is clear-
Im pragmatic about this- its Obama over Mccain easy for a middle class guy like me!

    • Vierotchka:

Thats ironic, RN. Please explain that point.

It would seem to me, that economically a company must maximize profits by balancing infrastructure with workers, hiring each worker until the next one doesn't yield any new profit. Therefore, regardless on the level of tax on the PROFITS each and every employer will employ the same number of people. Since everyone else on the top pays the same taxes, the COMPETITION between people is the same, thus resulting in an entrepreneur needing to expand in order to ascend at the same relative pace.

The only difference it has on business behavior is that it gives an incentive to business owners to distribute wealth in the company rather than taking and keeping the dividends. This flattens the pyramid of our economy with the only difference in lifestyle is that the income DIFFERENCE between top and bottom is a smaller number.

It won't put any rich people on the street. The only side effect of this flatter society is that rich people have to invest more carefully if they want to get the house on the hill.

In addition, the middle class grows.

      What's wrong with that?

Yes, liberals DO know how the world works. Can you explain using an economic model that you are right? I highly, highly doubt it.

Again, I don't expect you to respond to this, because that would require thought, and distract you from your work of spreading your gospel around these boards.

Besides, who cares if our economy and society suffers, as long as you can think you are smart.

    • I would not worry about taxes, the Bush oil company will have all the money, no one but them will have any money. It does not take a brain surgeon to figure this out.

    • And yet McCain goes around the country, preaching about how Obama will raise your taxes, as if its a bad thing. I'm sure he gets his talking points straight from the Billionaires themselves.

    • The GOP plan, despite what they say, would NOT provide tax relief for the average American. Instead, it will tie up our taxes with businesses already in control of the debt, banking system and mortgage loans. Their "hands-off" claims are getting thinner by the day.
