John McCain and the Keating 5: Repeating his mistakes.

krag2112
Does any of this sound familiar? And before you post that John McCain learned his lesson back in 1989, take a look at his quote from the Wall Street Journal just seven months ago:

"As far as a need for additional regulations are concerned, I think that depends on the legislative agenda and what the Congress does to some degree, but I am a fundamentally a deregulator. I'd like to see a lot of the unnecessary government regulations eliminated, not just a moratorium."

Suddenly today he's the "scourge of Wall Street". Don't believe it.

    • McCain took over $100,000 in campaign contributions from Keating and his wife, Cindy, got involved in real estate deals with Keating. They also took a number of "free" trips to Keating's home in Bermuda on Keating's private plane.

Take a look at the Arizona Republic article link I posted above.

    • During the time of the Keating 5 scandal, why was McCain, a 'so called' pillar of society, going to bat for one of the biggest con artists in the country, unless, of course, he was in Keating's pocket...

The question now is, how many other big con artists have McSame in their pocket and why would we even consider this guy for president..? This whole scheme of things is way out of control...McCain, along with the rest of the crimminals on Capitol Hill, the Mafia and the CIA should all be going to prison already...

    • Thanks.

It'll be in the Motion Picture Editors Guild Magazine, right before the elections. It'll be posted on the Guild website at http://66.155.115.65/v2/index.aspx

Here's the link to the article in the Arizona Republic on the Keating debacle: http://www.azcentral.com/news/specials/mccain/articles/0301mccainbio-chapter7.ht...

      Fascinating stuff.

How this man could be re-elected to the Senate after the Keating Five is a bloody travesty. And to have him doing what he's doing now?

I suppose the most humiliating thing McCain did in public, or so says author Cliff Schecter in his book "The Real McCain," was to call his wife Cindy a "c*nt." Here's the quote:

In his book The Real McCain, author Cliff Schecter claims that John McCain made extremely ugly remarks about his wife Cindy McCain during a tirade witnessed by three reporters and two aides. "At one point, Cindy playfully twirled McCain's hair and said, 'You're getting a little thin up there,'" Schechter writes. "McCain's face reddened, and he responded, 'At least I don't plaster on the makeup like a trollop, you c*nt.' McCain's excuse was that it had been a long day.

If you want to see it in print, if googled it and found one reference in the Drudge Report at http://www.drudge.com/archive/106692/author-mccain-called-wife-****-trollop

    • Thanks, Krag.

Just finishing up an article on Obama and McCain for my union magazine. McCain's relationship with Keating is certainly featured prominently. I took it slightly further, quoting research from the Arizona Republic that said McCain, during his Senate Ethics Committee hearing, leaked sensitive material on his co-defendants that would improve his case. McCain denied this.

Hopefully, Obama will press his advantage on precisely this issue. Even though Friday's debate is supposed to be on foreign policy, I'm sure the questioners won't be able to resist a question on the big meltdown.

      best,

      J

    • The power brokers behind that entire Keating 5 debacle, are the ones still running the show, so don't you guys expect any change, McShameless is having his strings pulled in all directions. If they can convince Americans that he is even close in the election, they will figure a way to put him in there, just like they did for W two terms in a row...

We must be on guard against that outcome...it would be even more disasterous this time for the future of our nation and its people...

    • Don' t worry he will change his position tomorrow to suck up to a different group. Maybe he can' t remember what his position is? The man is a journeyman back stabber.
