Controversial ADHD drug Ritalin banned for kids

Ritalin, the controversial drug used to calm down kids with ADHD, should never be given to kids under-fives and should be used only as 'a last resort', according to new guidelines.

Instead, the parents should be taught psychological techniques to change the behaviour of their kids who can't sit still for more than 5 seconds.

    • NO kids don't have ADHD
      they are kids
they are supposed to be hyper and they are supposed to have shorter attention spans

but the people who prescribe these drugs are too old to remember their childhoods

    • This is very good news. I accidentally saw a bit of Supernanny tonight, and it was incredible how out of hand a couple of little children had got (a five year old calling his brother a bastard while he kicked him in the face, and telling that bossy childcare woman that he hoped she 'fucking dies', for example) just because the parents were too tired and weak and unskilled to set them boundaries. Ritalin should be a last option after every kind of behavioural therapy has been tried.

you are the kind of person i pesonaly hate.

i have a sever impulse ADHD

      it is real
unfortunately people like you are too ignorant to realise

If it wern't or ritalin i wouldnt of made it through school without acting out or taking a swing at my teachers

      im 16
and i can remember being 7 and 10, and 13,
I can remember being percieved as stupid and unteachable, despite having an I.Q. of 137
im now doing A level in Physics and Chemistry and im in the works of getting an apprentiship with Prodrive Race team

had ritalin/equasym not been around i would have no qualifications whatsoever and would have wasted my life

people turning 17 with well above average I.Q.'s are not meant to be Hyperactive with short attension span are they.

i could go on but i doubt you i will change your views on what you seem to see as a made up psychological illness
scientific tests have been done and it has been proved.
