Ebay camera came with free MI6 'terror suspects' photos

A digital camera sold for £17 on eBay has been confirmed by the Foreign Office as being investigated by the police as it contains MI6 pictures of terror suspects.

The bidder reportedly found photos of "terror suspects, their names and fingerprints and even snaps of rocket launchers and missiles" on the Nikon Cool Pix camera.

Imagine downloading your holiday snaps of Corfu, that's the beach, an that's the hotel, that's the hotel swimming pool, an that's a member of al-Qaeda holding an RPG...

And who said package holidays aren't as exciting...

    • First, re credibility: This might be a hoax, but let's not forget that more than one U.S. military laptop has been sold with highly sensitive data right there for the snooping, not even unsecurely deleted.

Second, didn't I just read that the English cops recovered a truckload of stolen Play Station games, put the truck in their impound warehouse, and then had the truck re-stolen from that warehouse by the thieves on the very same day?

Seems as if George Bush's influence on the English government hasn't yet been sufficiently exorcised.

    • B.S. a spy agency is using a $30 camera and has a picture of an apple computer from the late 90's with supposed information sitting on the screen.

    • This is a funny story, and the idiocy involved in forgetting to clear the memory of a spy camera before you sell it is legendary, but this is from The Sun, so I'm not sure I'm convinced it's not bullshit...

    • That's a great deal! Good price on a digital camera and free terror suspect photos, too! I'd buy something like that. Where can I get one?

    • I would have sold the story but not the information. I'd give that back...pronto.

This made me actually drop my mouth open upon reading it. The smarts that this didn't take is simple dumbfounding. haha. They certainly win the award for trying way to hard to be way too stupid to be part of an elite group of smarty pants people.

    • Two things from this:

      1. How can somebody who has passed all of MI6's stringent vetting and been given access to these suspects/pics be so daft as to not check the memory first? It's a rookie error.

      2. You can get digital cameras for £17 on there? Amazing! And the papers will have paid the buyer for their story so they'll have essentially got a free camera, a bit of pocket money and a great story to tell in bars. A true bargain.
