It was Ronald Reagan who said that freedom is always just one generation away from extinction. We don’t pass it to our children in the bloodstream; we have to fight for it and protect it, and then hand it to them so that they shall do the same, or we’re going to find ourselves spending our sunset years telling our children and our children’s children about a time in America, back in the day, when men and women were free.
When did he say this? - Read The Rest at the Link...

I imagine that's why they called him THE TEFLON PRESIDENT. It was said of Reagan that he could ride in a open convertible, down Fifth Avneu, in a rainstorm and not get wet. Dean Martin had a similar personality. Calm and collected and after going from the D to the R made NO apologies.

I'm waitin' fer her to pull out the Ayn Rand.
I often wonder how old Ronnie would have paid for his long illness if he wasn't an overpaid movie actor, major state governor and U.S. president. What a guy.
A friend of mine who worked a s a social worker for the DPSS in CA while he was governor. She had one dream. It was for Ronald Reagan to lose all of his money, become old and ill and for her to have his case so she could place him in the board and care home of her choice.
The first thing the man did in his state chair was to take away benefits from those who could never help themselves. The aged and the mentally ill. A real hero and they just can't stop quoting him and mentioning his name. I must be a Martian. Private Ibber

I like apple pie and Chevrolets as much as the next person but I don't want them to be leaders of the free world. All that winking and down home talk to show that she is the average american showed just that. She is AVERAGE! The leader of the free world needs to be more tham that.

sara palin had a lot of nerve for saying constantly to Senator Joe Biden, "There you go Joe, refer back to the past!" Excuse me female idiot sara, reagan was further back than any of Joe Biden's factual references of the allegiances of mccain and bush politics and policies as well as these two men's lack of awareness of reality or real world events or tragedies. palin makes you wonder if her mother and father were twins from her grandmother and grandfather who were syblings too!

Sarah is the Liberals worst nightmare, the next Reagan.
Don't believe the Obamamediapolls. After this debate the numbers are going to be as good as after the convention.
Sarah and Joe's debate had the largest rating for a V.P. Debate, and the largest since 1992 debate.
How did Sarah get such a high rating, because Joe could not attract those kind of numbers.
She did it by flubbing the game show questions from the talking heads in the media.
Those flubbed answers gave Sarah a large audience for her debate.
Sarah used the debate to get her message out. She was bold, when she said, I'm not going to be hemmed in by Joe or the moderator.
Sarah just let it rip, and she did very well.
Think of this, if Perky Katie promoted Sarah by showing those bad excerpts of Sarah interviews.
Without all that Katie's bad promo, which were played frequently then no one would have watched the V.P. Debates.
Thanks Perky Katie.

Well sadly, everyone's blogging about how poor of a choice Sarah Palin is will mean nothing because Rep. are Rep. and will still vote Rep. Just as dem. are dem.'s and will still vote Dem. Like mentioned earlier a true multi-party is the only answer. Otherwise keep blogging until you're blue in the face, shit aint gonna change no matter who's in office.

That says it all, she idolises and aspires to Ronald Reagan. She didn't make any gaffes in the debate, but she didn't answer any of the questions either.

The only canonization in this election has been the attitude of the media and the guillable toward Comrade Obama. We could use another Reagan in the White House. We won't see it but we do need him.
Governor Palin did an excellent job last night. Certainly better than Senator Biden.
Personally I'm surprised that she didn't smack Couric in the teeth during that interview. Couric is a waste of oxygen. Palin was just on the news commenting on that interview. She said that no matter how she answered some of those question she was going to get slammed. I guess Gov. Palin is very aware of the bias in the media. - 3 years ago

She was told to interject god into the debates when she could, so that, and the "so blessed" remarks were the result. Brilliant woman...

Are you saying Sarah offered some substantitive policy positions during this debate clownpuncher?
What exactly is her 10 point plan for creating jobs in Michigan, stabalizing the national economy and what were the specific regulatory oversight procedures she (and McCain) would enact during the first 100 days in office that are not currently on the books?
(crickets)
Annnnnnnnd that would be my point exactly.
There is no "there" there!
She she's a little hottie, but this ain't American Idol.
Texting in your vote for the hot chick who can't sing on American Idol has no serious conequences. Who cares if she wins and never has a hit record? But that's American Idol.
Here there are deadly consequences and we can't vote someone through who is THAT ignorant just because we think she's adorable.

Brinet Spears lip syncs her "live" performances.
Ashley Simpson lip syncs her "live" performances.
Now we got....
Sarah Palin lip syncing to old Ronald Regan speeches!
Palin's management team has issued a statement that those were merely "backing vocals" created by DJ Rove and that all political performance artists use them in live shows.
Well we saw what happens when political performance artists Palin tried to perform on Katie Couric's show without her backing vocals and it was a disaster!
"What kind of magazines and newspapers fo you read, Sarah?"
5 mins of dead silence.
"Uh....all of them?"
Huh?
"I read all of them."
Ooooooooooookay then!

She is also quoted as saying just a few minutes earlier, "why dwell on the past? We should move ahead and not point fingers..."

Not only she quoted Reagan, she recycled his old cliches and mannerisms. As a good automat, she did not obviously deliver the message, as good BS'rs usually do. Sometimes I wonder if that was a debate at all, looks like Biden was a sole man (generically speaking) and there she was bringing old and outdated cliches as old as Reagan and McCain himself.

when did get Reagan canonized? as i recall he was what cranked up the ME generation - that group of selfish bastards that forgot what America was all about. You remember, the freedom to pursue dreams. instead we got "I got mine, fuck you!"
