Kucinich on the bailout bill: The Dumbest Thing I've Ever Seen

SeaJade
"Congressman Dennis Kucinich, who voted against today's bailout bill in the U.S. House, tells Fox News that a smarter approach would have been to directly help homeowners facing foreclosure instead of giving the Treasury Secretary the power "to pick winners and losers"."

    • If this were a smarter country, we would have more than 3 political parties - we would have, no confidence, recall elections.

If this were a smarter country we would have a REAL education system that teaches everybody, with a system of teaching how to think instead of teaching just what to think.

If this were a smarter country we would have a level playing field in the market place with power going to the capital side of the equation AND the labor side.

    • i guess i'm surprised because i have definitely seen dumber at 23 years of age. like clinton in the oval office, or Palin with Couric, or Cheney and his shotgun, or tax cuts for the wealthy, or 7 years of war over something as vague as terrorism, or the vague war on poverty, or ...... 700 billion is stupid, but i've seen worse. this could have gone either way. if we didn't give the 700 billion to the banks we could have a worldwide disaster that would be worse than what we got. the truth is that we will never know. all i can say is that at least a decision was made in a timely manner during a time of crisis.

    • It is my observation that this government (who ever they are) is playing out an endgame with our financial institutions. This endgame is designed to grab even more power from the citizens leaving most of them with an oppressive debt and a disparaging restriction of liberty.

I have been around enough car salesmen to know the art of the pressure sell.

The pressure sell suggest that if the "buyer" (in this case main street America) does not act today something bad is going to happen. This "bad thing" must be so terrible to the buyer that it is unimaginable why one would subject themselves to is horrors, such as "the interest rate will go up next week" or "that old car you drive may not make it much longer then you will be broke down alongside the road". Upon convincing the buyer of impending doom a shrewd salesman offers them something called "reciprocity" this infers that something will be done for the buyer (still the american people).

      It is the same scam!!!!!!!!!!

Pay attention to the these phrases in the Bill
      1. purposes of providing stability to and preventing
disruption in the economy and financial system.

Can they do that? Who decides what is "stable"? What is the deffinition of disruption? Who's economy are they protecting mine or yours?

2.protecting taxpayers, and for other purposes
Who do we need proctection from? What are the other purposes?

Look at the questions and ask them as if it were a new car and not a 700 billion tax burden. This is a decision that will effect all others for generations to come I think it should take a little longer than a week to know the best possible solution has been found.

    • Kucinich had read (and understands) Jared Diamond's book: Collapse: How Societies CHOOSE to Fail or Succeed. Society destroyes itself by idiotic beliefs of the culture ....Example: The Republican "Trickle Down Economics" theory -- drench the rich in money and some of the crumbs will fall to middle/lower classes. WRONG!! It actually trickled into owning more land and houses (like McCain) and Swssl Bank Accounts. But neocon friends of mine tell me we are in our "last days" they (not us) are going to be "raptured" away to heaven and God will punish the evildoers in his "tribulation"..... And 60% of Americans believe bullshit like this. ...zowie!! We are definitely F****ked. Vote for Palin/mccain and let the end come swiftly.

    • Congressman Kucinich, in my opinion, has always seemed to share his opinions and ideas in a way that makes him appear to have tons of integrity!

He actually answers questions that the media asks, instead of simply saying what he wants to say, like so many other politicians.

I have always felt that he would never make it to the presidency because of that; He says exactly what he believes, and it makes me sad that regardless of who the candidate is, we may not be ready for that in the U.S.A.

    • I like Kucinich... too bad he had to go public about his UFO sightings... not that I don't think it's possible, but it's pointless when a man who has such clear understanding on the government to allow himself to be labeled a nut.

Uh... it's only weird for a person to state he has observed UFOs if what is meant by a UFO is misconstrued, which many people did. He clearly states that when he said that he saw a 'UFO', he meant he saw an 'Unidentified Flying Object'. If when someone hears 'UFO' they think of alien spaceship, flying saucer, or whatever else that is alien-like, then they are misconstruing what he meant by 'UFO' (as I suspect you to be doing). At no point in the debate, did he say he observed some sort of alien space craft.
