Obama hatred at McCain rallies: "Kill him!"

Worse, Palin's routine attacks on the media have begun to spill into ugliness. In Clearwater, arriving reporters were greeted with shouts and taunts by the crowd of about 3,000. Palin then went on to blame Katie Couric's questions for her "less-than-successful interview with kinda mainstream media." At that, Palin supporters turned on reporters in the press area, waving thunder sticks and shouting abuse. Others hurled obscenities at a camera crew. One Palin supporter shouted a racial epithet at an African American sound man for a network and told him, "Sit down, boy."
------
That both McCain and Palin are willing to go to such extremes to win the election is a disturbing look inside the mind of people who are close to assuming the office of the President and Vice President.
Will Obama survive all the way up to Election Day -- or are Palin's followers already loading bullets into their high powered rifles?

jawnybc asks for it again,
"Cite one example of oversight that was removed by Republicans."
Glad to oblige.
I'm sure you just disremembered the details and momentarily forgot this was 'veto proof legislation' Right?
So let's refresh your memory, K?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gramm-Leach-Bliley
"The Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, also known as the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Financial Services Modernization Act, is an Act of the United States Congress which repealed part of the Glass-Steagall Act, opening up competition among banks, securities companies and insurance companies. The Glass-Steagall Act prohibited a bank from offering investment, commercial banking, and insurance services.
"The bills were introduced in the Senate by Phil Gramm (R-TX) and in the House of Representatives by James Leach (R-IA). The bills were passed by a 54-44 vote along party lines with Republican support in the Senate and by a 343-86 vote in the House of Representatives. Nov 4, 1999:
After passing both the Senate and House the bill was moved to a conference committee to work out the differences between the Senate and House versions. The final bill resolving the differences was passed in the Senate 90-8-1 and in the House: 362-57-15. This 'veto proof legislation' was signed into law by President Bill Clinton on November 12, 1999
The banking industry had been seeking the repeal of Glass-Steagall since at least the 1980s. In 1987 the Congressional Research Service prepared a report which explored the case for preserving Glass-Steagall and the case against preserving the act."

A new troll joins us with an avalanche of assumptions!
You are so full of omniscient confidence that you know that the people who shot an unarmed man thousands of miles away weren't Republicans? Is that right?
So, of course - you were there?
You interviewed the shooters? They contacted you? You have hard evidence? You understand their motives? You astral traveled to investigate the scene?
And you think the whole scam - played out in the UK of all places - could have been a secret ploy of Democrats out to help their guy because he's winning in every poll, right? Winning made him more desperate to, uh, win...Funny he doesn't seem that insecure.
But those UK Democrats they just randomly targeted a black make to raise publicity here - for Obama?
You are that credulous? Interesting.
And the imbeciles who shouted "Kill Him!" at Obama those were probably just Obama supporters being sneaky, you say? Obama wasn't beating McCain enough on every issue so they had to make him look even more credible?
Then you say, "And funny, no vital organs were damaged... hmmmm ... makes me wonder.... Think people... Dont always look at the obvious...life is complicated."
For someone either paranoid or psychopathic you're right - it would look just the way you describe it!

The youtube video requires no reading just watch and listen to McCain flip and flop all over himself.

This kind of thing is no good For or against Obama when someone yells "Kill him", I think there is a clause in the Secret Service guidelines that says that people running for the office of president are protected as if they are. therefor shouldn't the one that yell it at least be escorted out or questioned. And if he were to say "I'm gonna kill Barack Obama " Shouldn't the treat it the same as saying you're gonna kill the president?

jawnybnsc:
The shout "Kill him !" was at Palin's rally, after her rant about Obama's ties with Ayers (see the link on top this story).
I believe that McCain, for all his shortcomings and lies, is essentially a good man at heart, who has no intention to stoke anyone's emotions such high (as Palin?). We saw him smile, slap somenone's shoulder, gave condolences etc.The same cannot be said about Palin : although she is "connected with spectators" (with her direct gaze and beautiful smile), and "is very appreciated in Alaska", she can be RUTHLESS towards her rivals or rivals' friends (see stories about her ejecting almost all of Wasilla's former mayor's staffs, the librarian, her ex-brother-in-law's boss, etc), and her reaction to Biden's loss of family.
Have heard about her being called IRON LADY?But, if she become a TRIGGER of the murder of a very would-be USA's next president (and I think McCain WILL NOT BECOME OBAMA's REPLACEMENT AS A PRESIDENT, OF COURSE) , then we should be CAUTIOUS about this USA's IRON LADY!

This is tacky, but Obama made this a race issue when he "implied" and his media friends put it out there that if they voted for anyone else it was because they were racist. I'm sure there are plenty of wacko fanatics who would yell out like that in rallies... but don't be so naive to think these kinds of tactics are not on the tactical "list".
Here's my inspired guess at a tactical checklist for the McCain/Palin camp in order of ugliness.
1) Speak rhetoric to get votes.... didn't work.
2) Speak buzzwords to get votes... didn't work.
3) Find a semi-attractive naggy person to get votes (don't forget to wink a lot and speak colloquially -- redneck dialect)... didn't work.
4) Twist facts to make Obama look evil... didn't work.
5) Twist facts to make McCain/Palin look good... didn't work.
6) Avoid the press, they are seeing through the rhetoric... didn't work.
7) Avoid the light of reason in debates... didn't work.
8) Debate with rhetoric... didn't work.
9) "Surge" of attack ads... didn't work.REACHING DESPERATION LEVEL
10) Start instigating mob behavior to reinstill fear to drive our base back to us.... in progress.
I'm sure the list just gets uglier from there.
Cheers.

McCain and Palins hypocrisy and transparent attempt at smearing will focus back onto them. Obama was 8 years old when Ayers and his wife where charged but never convicted. His anti-war philosophy, although very radical at the time was unpopular but he was not involved in blowing up toilets in federal buildings himself. Ayers was voted as Chicago’s citizen of the year for his work on teaching school children peace and funding raising for impoverish communities in need of school supplies. I think it’s safe to say if he is a terrorist in this day and age, he’d be in Guantanamo right now.
However, the Palins have no excuse. I’m sure they wouldn’t like voters seeing video of Todd Palin’s mentor and peer member Joe Vogler founder of AIP and Governor Palin’s warm welcome to the AIP into her Governorship in her own words captured on news archives along with Vogler in his own words here.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vmYqRfp6-x8
"The fires of hell are frozen glaciers compared to my hatred for the American government," Vogler said in the interview, in which he talked extensively about his desire for Alaskan secession, the key goal of the AIP.
"And I won't be buried under their damn flag," Vogler continued in the interview, which also touched on his disappointment with the American judicial system. "I'll be buried in Dawson. And when Alaska is an independent nation they can bring my bones home."-Joe Vogler.

Fascism is rising all over the world. look around. Also look in old news magazines of the 30's and you will discover that it was then as well. There are many within the republican party that are drawn toward fascism, many find it comforting. The Bush administration has been sidling up to it as much as they can get away with and the amount that has been tolerated is truly frightning. If don't get away from the republican temptation to drift toward and fall into fascism that is always fueled by fear, we will find ourselves in as fascist a regime as any in Europe and our country will be effectivly dead.

above we see the typical conservative twisting words. No one WISHES death on McCain. They are pointing out a fact. He has recurring melanoma. He is 72. There is a chance that he could die in office and leave Palin who IS uneducated in office.
What YOU guys are doing is saying go out and kill Obama. Murder. BIG DIFFERENCE. Left side actually does respect McCains time overseas although most of us see no reason this would make him a better leader since he is very out of touch with the current reality.
But YOUR side is calling Obama a terrorist and calling for death out of racism and bigotry.

Funny this community is upset over the painful comments about Obama while the majority of you state worse things about McCain and Palin.
Talk about hypocritical to the max.
People wish death upon McCain on this site with "he's going to die in office" and such....and yet it's horrible that someone shout kill Obama out right. I guess they have guts and y'all have none..since you do it in the more subtle manner. The coward manner--so to speak.
If Obama were smart he'd continue talking about the issues and not pander to these attacks. But he's not. Not right now. Obama is an idiot for falling for anything that is being tossed at him...such as Ayers and the like. He shouldn't have retorted with something from the past....as easy as it was to pull that senator five out of the ashes of hell...he should have left it alone.
He doesn't have to play nicey-nice...but he sure the hell needs to play it smarter...because right now he's being too stupid to consider smart.

No, I personally think he could be more aggressive on some issues, but I dont see anything that he's proposing that would be a significant step backwards whereas just about everything McCain is proposing would be a monumental step backwards for the country and very, very damaging to the middle class.

But you are so adamant that it must be your way or your country be damned? There is a place for you - Alaska.

Maybe the whole point was to distract us?
McCain SUCKS on the economy....so he pulls this stunt and sudenly we all stop talking about the economy!
Obama was right about distractions and this is exactly what this is.
McCain is in a win/win situation by shifting the focus to this non-issue because he can talk about how the "media filter" is attacking him AND he can get away with ignoring the economic meltdown happening.
Maybe McCain is smarter than we give him credit for.
He was getting his ass beat on the economy -- so he starts pulling this bullshit (coordinated with his gal Friday Sarah) to change the subject.
John McCain was for the massive deregulation that created this mess and he should be held accountable for it.
We cannot allow 4 more years of Bushinomics to continue to destroy the middle class.
There....I've changed the subject back to the one McCain (and his follwers) are desperate, desperate, desperate not to talk about: the economy!

Deregulation has nothing to do with our current crisis.
Raising capital gains and corporate taxes will do nothing to help.
A Trillion dollars of new spending won't do a damn bit of good either.
There . . . I talked about the economy!

Violence cannot be condoned on any level. Never. We have lost great leaders because of the horror of a few.
Violence in Darfur cannot be condoned and we need to act with the UN to see that it is stopped.
We need to stop being a violent nation that allows children to shoot children all because some people want the right to own handguns. How incredibly stupid is that. Ask any parent who has lost a child or any sibling or friend who has lost a loved one due to handguns and racial intolerance.
I am sickened by the ugliness of this election. I am not talking about the mudslinging as I ignore that. I am talking about Palin's attacks with McCain's full approval. He is not a patriot nor an honorable individual if he does not have the balls to stand up and say NO MORE VIOLENCE OR THREATS/.

Talk about Darfur ... In the Democratic Clinton administration ... Did anyone notice how he let so many Rowandans in Africa get massacred without lifting a finger and the Branch Dividians in Texas (nonfighting women, children, and men), and so Serbians before he finally decided to help them. That the surplus felt in the Clinton Administration was because he rode on the coattails of the previous Republican administration. That because of him we were ATTACKED on 9/11 in New York, almost in the pentagon, etc...after his administration was out of office. And that he had many opportunities to get Bin Laden and didnt. That he allowed FannyMae and FreddyMac get out of hand so it would appear that everyone could own a home in his administration? Open your eyes America!

The media did not shout out Kill Obama. The media did not call him a terrorist. It is the "republican base" that bulldog Palin is inciting. She is doing it purposefully.
When racism and hatred is part of a campaign or religion then I will speak out against them. Palin is preaching hatred and it is very thinly disguised. FOX is only one media and yes they are despicable.
As to Bush, Cheney, et al yes they did manipulate and steal the election and we should have had a civil uprising when the supreme court favored bush and stopped the recount with Gore.
We better WAKE UP AMERICA or there will be no country left to live in.

As we all climb in our camps and scream
Liberal and Conservative
Democrat and RepublicanWe find ourselves stuck in a mob mentality where we are rationalizing bullshit.
I say this to supporters of both candidates. What are we rationalizing? How has this mob mentality taken us down. How are we stepping outside of ourselves.
This is all getting dangerous and we are showing our true colors. But maybe that's a good thing.

If you examine the policies of George W. you would realize he has put in place mechanisms which go into effect in the event of civil unrest. Is the Republican (neocon) goal to ignite civil unrest enabling them to use extreme measures against us and win the election? Bush, Cheney, McCain and Palin are from the same mold.
Do they think they can get in power using fear and racial divide? Yes, they can! They know they don’t need to worry, Americans no longer hold people accountable for their actions. Move along, nothing to see here.
I think its good they are getting people pissed at mainstream media. Mainstream media has failed America. Not by what those people think, but by enabling George W. to do the things he has done. They are going to be victims of the ones they supported. Talk about irony.

Their rebellion could come in the form of reporting fact over spin. They could stop the spinners and shame them for trying to mislead. Republicans would be afraid to spin and be shamed live on TV. Mainstream media could do for us what they have done for them. They can tell the truth for us and shame their spin. OOOh gives me chills just thinking about it. Mainstream media controls the "Court of Public Opinion", they could let facts speak for themselves and the "Court of Public Opinion" would be making informed opinions instead of dizzily moving along.

If McCain has any honor he will stand up on TV tonight and tell all his followers that he abhors violence and any thoughts of harming Obama is the most horrific thing that anyone can do and that he does not condone it.
I realize McCain cannot control those who want to vote for him yet I see him fanning the flames of racism and hatred and it sickens me.
The USA has a new chance with a new qualified and gifted man seeking the office of President. Senator Obama and his family have a right to live their lives without the ugly threat of death. We, as a nation, need to finally own that race and ethnicity is NOT a reason to be denied any job in this country.
McCain needs to stand up and say this is intolerable.

It's amazing how your mind can twist the story like that just to protect yourself from facing the fact that there are racist people out there who simply don't like Obama out of fear of white supremacy being knocked on it's ass. You must be proud of yourself for coming up with that one.

Its amazing that these two can put out this rhetoric and still have intelligent individuals back them. To back McCain at this point is to back institutionalized racism, in a way. It's not only backing the system as it stands, but its taking us several steps backward to the times of segregation not just for people of color, but for women and for children as well. To take America back to the "golden age of the 1950s" brings back all the spiteful divisions that the 60s and 70s sought to undo. Anyone with a claim to a brain ought to be against this vile hatred towards people for no other reason than their gender or skin color. That doesn't represent me nor my family, and I hope that logic and reason wins out in the end.

This is all explainable by understanding the Conservative mind, the Liberal brain is open too new ideas and understand that fear can be dealt with, on the other hand the Conservative brain needs too have
a dominate control figure telling them what to do, and are scared of change. I figure that this daddy issue that
dwells in the conservative brain has had us restrained and in fear for far too long. We as a nation have not been keeping up with the many changes occuring in our time. - 3 years ago

Its more like they come on here to pick fights and then can't finish them. When something real hits they either stay away or whine about it and cry out that we are "scared." (scared of an 8% lead... yea, got me there).
I have not been scared much in this election. Not yet. Mostly just incredulous at the lack of intelligence spouting from the conservative side.
That being said....
